  1. Some call it pink, others call it "salmon, the tough fish" colour... Me, I have moss green braid, camo braid and some std. floro. lines so I guess I'm not sure what to use. But as Lew said, red is the first to go black as the line (or lure) goes deeper in the darker water. I DO think that the "black" is harder for a fish to pick up on and that is why there has been a trend in red hooks on the deeper diving lures. I could be wrong though, as I often am.
  2. they make a great pink or orance with a hit of garlic smores!
  3. I was thinking the same thing... I've had herring jump out of the water like crazy before in a known walley spot on the lake.
  4. Nice to meet you Ryan and thanks for picking up those prizes. I hope you all have a good time.
  5. I think I missed 78. Geoff W - Brooklin...

  7. Well at least the winner was VERY happy. Congrats to Daro (not sure of the spelling).
  8. HAHA, then we won't even need the boat, LOL!!!
  9. Update, change of plans. If anyone has a boat and hasn't fished 4 mile lake, tomorrow you are more then welcome to join CCMT and I. We are going to hook up and get out in my boat at the cottage. I can show you around and where to go and where to avoid for future trips. BTW, there are no fish in the lake unless you want perch, blue gill's and WGSF...
  10. Hey all. Does anyone want to get out and go fishing tomorrow? I'm in the North end of Whitby and my boat is up at the cottage so I'm boat-less... Cheers. Geoff
  11. We still good for Friday Ryan? Headhunter will be there too (I work with the grumpy bugger )
  12. I too say spend the $ on the reel and less on the rod. the new shimano voltaris rod is a great bass/walleye rod for the price. I swear you can feel a perch fart if you use braided line with that rod. A GOOD reel you will have for a long time, a rod can get broken in a second (like my wife broke one of mine in the door of the van) so I tend to stay away of the high $$ rods for now.
  13. for me, think of it as the man in the boat, I go right to the honey hole and if I get a good one worth eating (not to big and not too small) then I'll eat it. most is CPR but some times a man's got to do what a man's got to do.
  14. google "fly bait and coke" is all I have to say...
  15. ya should have kept your bait on rather then take a pic... have fun next trip and good on ya for the report.
  16. Look up Halimar in Haliburton. Tell Jan (sound like Yawn) and Suzanne that Geoff and Trina (sounds like Tree-NA) told you to check with them. I have been there maybe 5 years in a row now and I'm very happy with everything they offer/provide. http://www.halimar.com/ It's more a family place but when you look at what the lake has to offer then maybe it's a good fit for you, provided they have room... Good luck and I miss those trips with the boys when something causes a big mess... Geoff
  17. Um Billy Bob. I smoke and if you ever catch a lake O salmon and do not plan on eating it msg me. it can go right in to my meat smoker...
  18. I think he did splashhopper and that's why he went 3 to your 1... PS, I see a dreaded white bucket of death in these pic's too... oh the horror...
  19. No Art, the fact that "smoking kill's" is layed out beside the dead catch of the day is good. Yes I had to spell it out for some that just didn't get your post... either way, nice haul!
  20. It's not bad but the braid is loose, IE at times you can flex it and see through it. I like the regular moss green stealth better.
  21. DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did I get my point across?!?!?! NICE FISH!
  22. circle works too
  23. welcome to OFC and where are you from? You never know what OFC'er might live close to you...
  24. BTW, take a big map, draw a circle in red around the "too far to drive zone" and throw a dart and see where you look...
