Kevin was a great friend. I think I remember that fish fry. My first OFC GTG. RIP Kevin and our deepest condolences to Leslie and the entire family

I'm sure you have a lot of mixed emotions watching that video Lew. I'm sure you and her both served your country with honor
-
I have the date written down to watch this one. we'll just see what kind of monsters Ontario really has.

Appreciate the update Lew. IndeedKevin has been in a very long struggle with this. And let's not forget Leslie and her tireless caring. We'll definitely have to drop them a line.

Need help from some of the Musky guys on here

Funny. Same here. Caught one by accident and never looked back. That's all it seems to take sometimes. -

And make darn sure your clasp is closed and secure before you sling the large baits. I've made that mistake a time or two and zing .... off she goes. -

I always use 80# power Pro and a good strong leader. 100+ LB Flouro is what I am using now. As far as the 6'6" rod - I think you would be more comfortable with a longer rod - especially for the fig-8. I started out using 6' and constantly bending over the boat to perform even somewhat meaninful fig-8. That got to be a pain real fast. I then went to 7' and a world of different even that much made. Now I am using 8' and really like it. -
Hey John. Have a great one.

That there's definitely a keeper. Congrats.

Attawapiskat Taiga Trekkin' 2015. (NF Report)

DANG - THAT LOOKS COLD ... for us southern boys. Always a pleasure to read the report and the fantastic pics from the Canadian North. Thanks for taking the time to put all this up. Great read. -
Only one lure. What would it be?
Rich Clemens replied to Acountdeleted's topic in General Discussion
For Musky - my go to lure us a Double Cowgirl. Black with silver (or gold) blades. I probably thow this one lure 90+ percent of the time. Still trying to catch one on the trolling baits Art had given to me. One of these years, we'll get one on them. -
We haven't gotten a lot of snow - at least in one shot. But, there for a while it seems like we were getting a few inches or so every other day. Getting tired of getting up for work and shovelling the walks and drive-way. Wy can't mother nature just dup it on us - once and done - and get it over with. LOL

Karma... it is a three way street correct?

Sounds like a good thing to do for the week-end Wayne. Let Jen un-wind a bit. All our best, as always, for your entire family. I am still beyond over-whelmed by the courage and strength this young lady has. (That you ALL HAVE). -
It sure has been a long and cold one down here as well. Longer cold stretches than normal. I think I'm ready t start cutting the grass again. I think Spring will be late again and really hose up the fishing for the musky opener. No worries. We'll have some good/close friends to spend the week with while we're up north - and we're looking forward to that.

Spinning Reel / Rod Set-Up for Bigger Fish
Rich Clemens replied to T-Bone's topic in General Discussion
Those are exactly the rods I first purchased when I started fishing for musky and they held up quite well. The more I got into it, those things really about broke my back bending over the boat for the figure 8. I then moved up to some cheaper 7' rods for a while. As I continue to stick solely with musky fishing, I am now upgrading to the St. Croix rods and using 8' or 8 1/2' rods. Sure makes the figure 8's a lot easier and not bending half-way over the boat for the fig-8. My wife likes the shorter rods and she is using the 6' Ugly sticks and they seem to work well for her and casting the larger bicktails and such. -
Brutal winter-Will it affect the spring bite ?
Rich Clemens replied to knightfisher's topic in General Discussion
Yeah ..... It was a fought year last year catching fish while we were up there. Lots of follows, but no takers -
We follow the recommendations for vaccinations for both of our dogs. We also use Heart Guard and something for fleas and ticks. When we kennel them in the summer, most kennels require that the dogs be up to date on all their shots. This is also a requirement for crossing the boarder coming to Canada. We have to be able to prove they are current on their shots and we have been asked for the paper work a couple times coming into Canada. Fortunately everything was in order and had no problems.

Head about it down here. Very Tragic indeed. I can't even imagine the loss of a child.
-
No that's cool. Just imaging how big those musky pictures will look now
-
Maybe you should type it out. UNO Happens here all the time. Too bad you have to call India - just to speak to someone down the road. LOL

Dang. Makin' me wish it was summer already, great trip and thanks for posting on OFC.
