  2. Great pic Lew. Couple more weeks and you'll have a lot more.
  3. Maybe TJ has some of the old memorabilia lying around.
  4. Correct. The French is not charted. I made my own from MapCreate just to get contours and for basic navigation, but that's it.
  5. Really cool pics from the good old days
  6. Great to hear. :clapping:
  7. Awesome country up there TJ. Would love to make a visit some day.
  8. Glad to heAr you made it through this Lew. Our one grand-daughter ran into a nest of bees in the ground some years back and they really did a number on her. Nasty little buggers. Thank goodness you are not allergic to,bee stings. Drink a cup of coffee for me this morning if you will.
  9. HA HA. Saw that one on FB the other day.
  10. Looks like a great time and one to remember for a long time to come. Thanks for Sharing.

  12. An OFC'er shared this with me a number of years ago/ TREAT ME KINDLY Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, For no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me. Do not break my spirit with a stick, For though I should lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me learn. Speak to me often, For your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps fall upon my ears. Please take me inside when it is cold and wet, For I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to the bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. Keep my pan filled with water, for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger. And, my friend, when I am very old, and I no longer enjoy good health, hearing and good sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having fun. Please see that my trusting life is taken gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I drew, that my fate was always safest in your hand. --- By Beth Norman Harris 1968 ---
  13. Just a lot of beautiful country up there. I think could spend the entire summer in that area. Winter .... hmmmmmm. May need to think about that one. Lot of folks from our neck of the woods travel up there. While at Mashkinonje, we met a few guys who may live about an hour or so from me. There's a reason a lot of us keep coming back year after year.
  14. Supposedly, at Lakair, new wiring and plumbing as well. The owners are fixing up the large cabin there and plan on living in it. Really gonna make the place look nice. They were working in the. One right beside the launch and it looked like the gutted the whole thing. Put all new bracing underneath as well. Just working in the aiding when we went past a few times. Dang - really gonna miss that place. Lots of great times there
  15. Yeah Jeff, I know where that camp is now. We passed it quite a few times when we stayed at wolseley lodge a few years back. Never went back that direction for fishing though, so we never got a real good look at the place. Heading up to the French myself here in September for a couple weeks. Staying at Rainbow Camp - also on the road to Wolseley bay. Hoping the big girls are hungry then. Couldn't find them when we were up a couple weeks ago
  16. Yeah. That's a tough call to make, but we have to do it. Sorry for your loss as I still recall the day I had to us my girl down. Some years back and I still miss her.
  17. Great report Jeff. I have heard of the Fish Tail .... Where a outs is this located ? I've heard a lot of great comments about Memquisit and the owners as well. We have been really blessed with the camps we stay at up that way. all great hosts. From what we learned about Lakair, the camp was sold. The new owners are doing a lot of remodeling. Looks like they are basically gutting some of the cabins and re- doing them. Starting with those down around the launch. From what I understand, they are planning on re-opening, but are renting the cottages on a seasonal basis. At least that is what we heard when we were at Mashkinonje a couple weeks ago.
  18. It as indeed a great week and we are already booked at Mashkinonje for next year's opener. I think we spent more time sitting around gabbing than we did fishing, My grand fish total for the week ONE pike. Patsy out fished me this week. Now we look forward to our Two-weeks on the French here in September. Maybe the catching will be better. See you all next June.
  19. Glad to see some folks were having some success. Was on the west arm of Nipissing last week and never saw one.
  20. Great day. I waited a heck of a long time between my first and second ski - and you get three that quick. CONGRATS
  21. I'll be lurking right around the corner
  22. Sounds right here as well. I've lost a fish or two due to not having a good hook set. Either that was my own fault on the hook-set or the hooks were not sharp enough for proper penetration. I keep my drag tight, but ust loose enough should the fish want to take a run. Always try to keep the line tight and not give any slack line. Some good reminders as I prepare for my opener this week-end up north.
  23. The real senior moment is when said Orange jug is used and is placed back into the refridgerator. Now that would be funny.
  24. Interesting thread. We have none, but a number of years back, one of our dogs fell out of the boat and I had to go in after her. She was a lousy swimmer and the water was a bit rough. Yes, my life jacket was on when I went in. After lifting her back in, I also used the engine to get myself back in. Not the best idea, but was my only option. Might be a good idea to pick something up that we could just hang over the back when we need it.
  25. It's on Animal Planet down here right now. Takes home the entire show to finically catch one - but that's typical.
