  1. Sounds great. Just received mine in the mail today as well. Looks like a lot of good reads ... as soon as I start.
  2. All in and all done until next year. Gonna be a looooong winter.
  3. For Dad ... they went up through the urethra to get it ... no external surgery. You're right ... they suck. I'm still wondering how much of this is heredetary and I get to look forward to this.
  4. Envy is setting in. Should have a fantastic time. Appreciate reading the details.
  5. Man's equivilant of giving birth I heard - so your pain is felt. My dad just went through this several months ago and ended up in the hospital - the thing got too big to pass. They went in, broke it up, and pulled out the little pieces. I understand my grandfather had problems with kidney stones as well, so I may be in for the same thing one of these days. As the others have said, don't put this off. Keep well hydrated and get it out of there before any damage is done. My father drinks a lot of tea and the Dr. said that tea can be a contributing factor to these things. Needless to say ... no more Tea.
  6. I recall driving over the apline passes in Switzerland several years ago. No guide rails, maybe a small concrete post every few meters. Ya look down over the side of the road and it take you a heck of a long time finally hit bottom if you went over the edge. Those mountains are truely impressive. This is definitly on my list of things to NOT DO BEFORE I DIE. Cool video though.
  7. Somebody has been playing around with Photo Shop. Come on now ... show us the real one.
  8. I surew hope you didn't try to wiggle your boat in through all that. Very interesting looking place there. Nice looking fish none the less.
  9. Man that must have been blast latching into that one and hauling her in. Top wager eh ? Great catch.
  10. Pic showed up ... Beauty of a pike there.
  11. Several years ago my daughter and I were travelling through Western Europe and stopped at the Canadian memorial at Vimmy Ridge. It sure made you think about H*ll on earth and what those men had to go through. Seeing the trenches, artillery craters. They won't let people walk on the battlefield because there may still be live ammunition scattered about ... after almost 90 years. I can't imagine what living through that would have been like. I still think of my visit there from time to time. Just travelling the roads through France, seems like there is some type of miliatry cemetary every several miles. It was a very somber moment for me visiting that site and the bravery of those Canadian Soldiers. My hat's to all of them. I wonder how many are yet still alive here in the states ?
  12. From "South of the Border" ... Thank you. We're staying home and having most of the kids and grand-kids over for a late afternoon meal. Already have an appointment set up with the men in white coats to come over 1/2 hour before they all arive. Total chaos coming our way.
  13. That is great and so much well deserved. Too bad, being south of the border, I couldn't vote with the rest of you.
  14. Wow ! THat must have been the trip of a lifetime. Some real beauties there. Sounds like this trip desreves another. Thanks for sharing.
  15. I have this wite as one of my 'favorites'. Lists a number of out-fitters in the area. http://www.fishingontario.com/nipissing.html
  16. Thanks Rick ... I knew something didn't look quite. You can delete my reply here so as to not change the direction ChrisS post.
  17. Here's a few of our girls. They go with us on all our fishing trips and just love it. They are both very good in the boat as well .... until someone gets a fish on, then everyone is hanging over the side of the boat. The Airedale is 6 years old and the Lab is 1 year old.
  18. Fishboy. There is a 'pinned' post on the first page. I understand you need to know how many posts you had on the old board. Post a reply in this post and the mods should take care of it.
  19. Welcome aboard and we all needtofish ... don't we ?
  20. Well I was RICHESOX on the old board, so I too switched over to my real name, which I had used as my signature line before. Been fishing as far back as I can remember, mainly from docks and along the shore for whatever would bite. Started out fishing with my father and eventually, when my daughter was little, I'd take her along for some shore fishing at a local lake. In the early 1990's, we took our first big trip to the French River and stayed at Bear's Den Lodge. Met the owners at a local show, and they only live about 1/2 from here. Well, after the first trip, we fell in love with the area and remain so to this day. We returned for a few years in a row to the point where it seemed the fishing dropped off and got tougher, so our fishing trips stopped. Late in the 1990's, we started to make the treck to the Rideau System in Eastern Ontario for basss and small pike. Became great friends with the owners and have been returning each year ever since. After a few years of renting boats, we purchased our first one. Targe Pro-Angler V-16. Had that one a few years and upgraded to a Tracker V17 WT, which we have now. A few years back, I had a strong desire to return to the French River, and so we did. Was trolling and landed my very first musky, a nice 29", which we CPR. We''l that did it .... bitten by the bug. We take a two-week trip to the French the last two weeks of September, splitting the time with one week at Rainbow Camp on the North Channel and the second week out of Wolseley. My PB was caught on the North Channel at 43" (CPR of course). Got Skunked this year for skis, but that's just fine. Three weeks of fishing in Canada each year. Third week of July out of Rideau Ferry (bass) and last two weeks of September at the French (Muskie/Pike). Actually, with my schedule at home, this is about all the fishing I get during the year. Being in Central PA, I've not even purchased a fishing license here in the states for the past couple years. Sad huh ? I'm considering coming up for the OFC outing at Lakair, so we'll see what happens. I'd be boatless and would need to find a place to sleep. I have yet to meet any of the OFC'rs, but I'd really like to before long here.
  21. I assume this will be available on the OFC Store. Can't wait - haven't played that game in a lot of years.
  22. Yup. "BIG JIM' seems to be pretty well known around the Rideau Area. I fish there for a week each July and it's common to run into Jim in Smiths Falls. Hangs at Bennet's Bait and Tackle from time to time ... including the local diners. I think it was a couple years ago, my Dad and step mother had the chance to spend a day with Big Jim and had a fantasic time .. they still talk about it.
  23. Well on your way to a kick-butt site already. You guys put a lot of work into this and it shows. Great job !
  24. Yeah - This is gonna be a learning curve. Seems like there is just so much here, gonna take me quite a while just to see what all the mods put into this one. Looks like a lot of great things here.
  25. Welcome aboard. Just got the new site up and plenty to poke around at. Yeah - we like reports and pics too.
