  1. I checked out the high efficiency model at Culligan and they quoted $3,500 plus tax. It will take along time to save on salt to cover the extra cost over a regular softener.
  2. I think the rental at Culligan is more than $15 a month but will check it out. Thanks for the offer of your old softener but need to know more details first about it, make, size and how old.
  3. My water softener is 20+ years old and needs to be replaced. Town well water is too hard and a softener is a must. I plan to move in 5 years and do not want to spend big $ on a new softener. Any commendations on good reliable reasonably priced water softeners would be appreciated.
  4. Thanks for all your replies. I did find a West Arm fishing map:
  5. That one will not fit into my frying pan!
  6. West side of Hwy 64. May also go to the east side (West Bay).
  7. I am planning a fishing trip to the West Arm early July. Need some advise as I have never been there before. Where can I launch my 16' aluminum boat and park for 3 days? I am planning to camp out, are there crown land sites or park sites available? I usually fish for Bass, Walleye and Pike, any recommended spots to fish? Thanks for your reply
  8. Bought a 98 3.3 Grand Caravan new with tow package. Towed loaded hard top camper, box trailer and my 16' with 25hp. Caravan lasted 11 years 330,000 kms with no trany problems. I did change the trany fluid about 3 times.
  9. I will continue to carry a roll of duct in my Kevlar canoe. Coleman still makes poly canoes, not the best canoe but they don't break.
  10. If he is cutting dead trees I would not worry about it. He probably has run out of fire wood this cold winter.
  11. For $1800 a week I would rather rent a nice water front cottage and go fishing.
  12. Interesting but Les does not tell us how much it costs to fix up the buildings to make in comfortable for is family. He must have good friends or lots of money to helicopter in lumber, bring in crews and heavy equipment up a bush road to his back 150. Not everyone can get completely off the grid but something to think about with increasing energy costs.
  13. I was there Thurs after 4 pm after a few years not going and it was just ok. It was not crowded and the exhibitors were available to talk. There seem to be less of everything as I remember from years past. Liked the new Toyota Rav4 found it several locations in the show.
  14. There are lots of website design sites out there, just check them and compare. If you do it your self go to site that has drag and drop web building software, it is easy to modify a template with your pictures and wording. You will have learn how to use it but make sure they have good phone support. I used GoDaddy, got 2 domain names and a 5 page website including 1 year hosting for less than $100.
  15. Check: http://www.carcomplaints.com/Toyota/Sienna/
  16. It is 17 to 18 miles per US gallon.
  17. Get a pair of Microspikes made by Kahtoola from MEC, $55 last year. They don't fall off and have great grip on ice. Most of the people I hike with wear them in winter.
  18. Great report and good time with friends. I am going with friends to my back lake with great bass fishing in August, see pix.
  19. Lake Dalrymple is a big lake for canoe fishing. If it is not windy you should be ok. Launch near bridge crossing at the narrows, try fishing in the shallow weedy south part of the lake.
  20. Thanks for both of your replies. I will not be making a special fishing trip to Hastings but when in the area, will check it out.
  21. I read an article in last Saturday's Star about Hasting's (east of Rice Lake) claim to Canada's ultimate fishing town. The locals say there are more fish per acre in Hastings than anywhere else in Ontario. The bridge into town is the only road crossing in the province where fishing is allowed off the bridge. Has anyone fished there? Is their claim true or are they stretching the facts to get more tourist business?
  22. Where is the public access to Mitchell Lake?
  23. I go to long Lake every year and camp. The fishing is good, I fish mostly for bass. You have to keep your gear light on the carry in, I take the right fork in the trail to avoid the 4 x 4 and ATV water holes. My kevlar canoe and pack comes to less than 100 lbs, add a few more lbs for brown pop. If you want good fishing you need to go remote where the heavys dont go.
  24. has not set their status
