  1. Great report and good time with friends. I am going with friends to my back lake with great bass fishing in August, see pix.
  2. Lake Dalrymple is a big lake for canoe fishing. If it is not windy you should be ok. Launch near bridge crossing at the narrows, try fishing in the shallow weedy south part of the lake.
  3. Thanks for both of your replies. I will not be making a special fishing trip to Hastings but when in the area, will check it out.
  4. I read an article in last Saturday's Star about Hasting's (east of Rice Lake) claim to Canada's ultimate fishing town. The locals say there are more fish per acre in Hastings than anywhere else in Ontario. The bridge into town is the only road crossing in the province where fishing is allowed off the bridge. Has anyone fished there? Is their claim true or are they stretching the facts to get more tourist business?
  5. Where is the public access to Mitchell Lake?
  6. I go to long Lake every year and camp. The fishing is good, I fish mostly for bass. You have to keep your gear light on the carry in, I take the right fork in the trail to avoid the 4 x 4 and ATV water holes. My kevlar canoe and pack comes to less than 100 lbs, add a few more lbs for brown pop. If you want good fishing you need to go remote where the heavys dont go.
  7. has not set their status

  8. Looks good but I will fish the back lakes with my 16' kevlar canoe.
  9. Glad they got out ok but how do you get the truck out with the ice so weak? Leave until spring and lift it out using a barge?
  10. On Friday it is half price admission if you are a senior, $6.
  11. On Friday it is half price admission if you are a senior, $6.
  12. Caster Thanks for the back ground info on Red. He must have been doing something right to live to 92!
  13. I remember watching the Red Fisher show as a kid and think this was the first fishing show on TV in Canada. If I remember right it was a half hour show with video of Red fishing in an open boat then a shore lunch and then his show finished with a "lodge" chat. I dont think Red threw all of his catch back like they do in today's shows. Does anybody know what happened to Red?
  14. When a player gets hurt by a "legal" hit then there is something wrong that needs needs to be corrected!
  15. After a good day of fishing!

  16. Check Out: 1. Torrance Barrens on Muskoka 13 (Southwood Rd) 2. Hardy Lake Trails on HWY 169 between Bala and Gravenhurst 3. Canada Trail near Coopers Falls 4. Ganaraska Trail Wilderness section at end of Black River road from Coopers Falls, you need a map and GPS as this is wilderness. 5. Stop at Muskoka Info place on HWY 11 between Washago and Gravenhurst. Ask for Muskoka trails info booklet.
  17. We did in St Catharines, just a small vibration.
  18. Any body have any info on the fishing in Lower Eastern Lake and Eastern Lake located just north of Orillia? It looks like the access is via Long Lake and I will be using my canoe. Planning to check it out this summer. Thanks
  19. I am planning to fish Red Cedar Lake north of North Bay Ontario and camp on the lake. Does anyone have info on fishin this lake, where I can put my boat in and park the car & trailer for 3 or 4 days. Thanks.
  20. If it breaks through on thin ice how do you get it out? Will it pull it's self out or do you stand on the thin ice and pull it out? You are stuck out there and in big trouble!
  21. I have camped at Massassauga PP for 10 years and never seen one other than a few water snakes a bears.
  22. I lost my boater card and had the same experience trying to get a replacement. This card is a money grab and a joke!
  23. Here is how I understand it now: When there is a full moon the earth is between the sun and the moon and in a gravitational tug of war between the sun and moon. The fish feel this affect go crazy and bite. When there is a new moon the moon is between the earth and the sun and moon's gravitational pull is added to the sun's onto the earth. The fish feel this affect go crazy and bite. This gravitational affect on the earth by the moon is not only felt by fish but also by animals and people. Therefore during a full or new moons lookout for lunatics, good fishing!
