  1. Thanks for the Lodge info. Will consider it for next year's fishing trip.
  2. Thanks, I will definitely contact you if we go there in September.
  3. Thanks, this place looks interesting.
  4. Thanks Iggy. Is this lodge in Quebec?
  5. Thanks will check them out.
  6. I am looking for either place
  7. My 2 fishing buddies and I are looking for a Lodge for a week in September that has good walleye fishing within an 8hr drive from the GTA. The Lodge should have reasonably priced housekeeping cabins or cottages that have a BBQ on the deck. Any recommendations you could give us would be appreciated. Thanks
  8. You never stop learning until they put you in the box!
  9. The fishing is not all bad on Pigeon, my grandson caught this large mouth recently.
  10. Putting a boat on a trailer in and out of a cargo trailer will be awkward. Then you have no camping comforts inside the cargo trailer. Also towing that big cargo trailer will be another problem. If you don't want another truck camper or small RV then get a good quality tent that does not leak in the rain.
  11. There is a portage trail from Stormy lake to Bass lake that you can try. I have not been there for many years so can't say how good the fishing is today.
  12. It maybe tough finding parts for a 27 year old Merc.
  13. I went to the fishing show Friday. It was busy but not big show as in the past. Some big exhibitors like Mercury were missing. Found some deals on tackle but not great. I did met Bob Izumi after his talk.
  14. Many years ago my dad and I got lots of smelt in Parry Sound under the railway bridge, that's gone. Later with a buddy smelted on Simcoe at Brechin, we had to work it to get a bucket. Where have all the smelts gone?
  15. There is Bluebird park launch on the road to the airport on the south side of the lake. If your not a resident with a parking permit then you will have to pay for parking at the parking lot kiosk with your phone. Not sure if the park lot is open or plowed in winter. The other launch at Longford Mills was open this past spring after grading and fencing. I would check it to see if it is rely closed.
  16. Great report! Wish I was there.
  17. I have oak, ash, white pine some maple on my property. Fortunately no ash near the building. Not there year round but when there in colder months heat with oak and ash that has been split and dried for a year. Dry hard wood gives more heat and less creosote. I have more ash at the back and when they are dead I too hope the ash borer does not move to other trees.
  18. The plastic gaff (not sharp) was used to hold the bowfin because of sharp teeth. It was released back into the lake.
  19. My son caught a bowfin in a shallow weedy lake north of Orillia. I have never seem one and did not know they existed in Ontario. The fish was re least. The bowfin has existed since primordial times. It is part of the Amiidae family and is the only living representative of the order Amiiformes, which is traced back to Jurassic times. Bowfin fish are often referred to as a “living fossil.”
  20. The newer boats with more efficient motors will hold their value but the older glass boats that are gas hogs will drop. The older RV's that eat a lot of gas will drop in value.
