  1. Many of CN tracks are very busy and the trains are now 100 cars or longer. With the increased rail traffic it looks like derailments will continue to happen.
  2. I wonder how many people out there think that they are insured went they are not!
  3. Insurance companies are in the business to make money not spend it.
  4. I have not used real sauna soap for a long time but remember it. My parents use a birch vasta in the sauna but I did not care for it. Nothing like a cold swim after a hot sauna, even in January. Make sure your ticker is still good before trying this. A Sauna is a great way to relax and keep clean up at the cottage or anywhere you can have one.
  5. Being a Fin, I have had both wood and electric sauna stoves. Electric is slow, does not heat up as hot and is hard on your electric bill. It is also hard to find an electric stove that you can safely put water on the rocks. If you can't put water on the rocks then it is not a sauna. You can regulate the heat with a wood stove by the amount and type of wood you put in, also by the air draft. Wood stove is the way to go and get a hot water tank attachment.
  6. Leafs need to get rid of the foreign players who are just here for the money and bring in good local Canadian players who want to play with heart and pride.
  7. I have had 2 Caravans since 1998. Got 330K out of the first one and presently have 246K on my 2006 model. I did the regular maintenance and have had no engine or trany problems. There have been other repairs but where reasonable considering the kms. Am looking at buy another Caravan before they are discontinued after 2016. The Honda and Toyota vans are good if you have the extra $10,000. Check out this site for more info: carcomplaints.com
  8. There is another free launch and parking just on the north side of the Trent canal where it enters Balsam at West bay. I went there for a day in July and found the fishing tough.
  9. I was at West Arm east of 64 for a few days just after Canada Day. The water levels looked normal and the fishing was not good. The scenery was great.
  10. I always have a tire gauge and air pump in my van. First time you need the air pump on the road for your trailer tires or vehicle it pays for its self. All tires have the max load and air pressure ratings on the side wall near rim.
  11. That sucks! I was looking forward to free retirement fishing in a few years.
  12. I checked out the high efficiency model at Culligan and they quoted $3,500 plus tax. It will take along time to save on salt to cover the extra cost over a regular softener.
  13. I think the rental at Culligan is more than $15 a month but will check it out. Thanks for the offer of your old softener but need to know more details first about it, make, size and how old.
  14. My water softener is 20+ years old and needs to be replaced. Town well water is too hard and a softener is a must. I plan to move in 5 years and do not want to spend big $ on a new softener. Any commendations on good reliable reasonably priced water softeners would be appreciated.
  15. Thanks for all your replies. I did find a West Arm fishing map:
  16. That one will not fit into my frying pan!
  17. West side of Hwy 64. May also go to the east side (West Bay).
  18. I am planning a fishing trip to the West Arm early July. Need some advise as I have never been there before. Where can I launch my 16' aluminum boat and park for 3 days? I am planning to camp out, are there crown land sites or park sites available? I usually fish for Bass, Walleye and Pike, any recommended spots to fish? Thanks for your reply
  19. Bought a 98 3.3 Grand Caravan new with tow package. Towed loaded hard top camper, box trailer and my 16' with 25hp. Caravan lasted 11 years 330,000 kms with no trany problems. I did change the trany fluid about 3 times.
  20. I will continue to carry a roll of duct in my Kevlar canoe. Coleman still makes poly canoes, not the best canoe but they don't break.
  21. If he is cutting dead trees I would not worry about it. He probably has run out of fire wood this cold winter.
  22. For $1800 a week I would rather rent a nice water front cottage and go fishing.
  23. Interesting but Les does not tell us how much it costs to fix up the buildings to make in comfortable for is family. He must have good friends or lots of money to helicopter in lumber, bring in crews and heavy equipment up a bush road to his back 150. Not everyone can get completely off the grid but something to think about with increasing energy costs.
  24. I was there Thurs after 4 pm after a few years not going and it was just ok. It was not crowded and the exhibitors were available to talk. There seem to be less of everything as I remember from years past. Liked the new Toyota Rav4 found it several locations in the show.
  25. There are lots of website design sites out there, just check them and compare. If you do it your self go to site that has drag and drop web building software, it is easy to modify a template with your pictures and wording. You will have learn how to use it but make sure they have good phone support. I used GoDaddy, got 2 domain names and a 5 page website including 1 year hosting for less than $100.
