  1. Lots to see in Arizona The Grand Canyon is a great place, we drove there in 2011 in August and had a great time. At this time of year the south and north rim parks will be closed for winter until April or May, 5000 ft elevation. South Arizona should be much warmer.
  2. Still using my dad's home made box trailer with 50 year old tires with tubes. Some of you may remember the tire size 6.00 x 16. Probably can't get new tires for it any more. I check the visual condition of the tires and they still hold the air well. I have been thinking of replacing the trailer for years but it still does the job. I don't use it much but when I do take it easy, stay on the right side on the road, have no spare tire.
  3. Merry Christmas to all.
  4. I like to be with outdoors people/friends any time of the year otherwise I enjoy being myself to see nature's display.
  5. Nice sled and lights.
  6. Thanks to everyone's reply. We are thinking about an over night hut. Are there any over night huts on the main lake?
  7. I am thinking about taking my summer fishing buddies on their first ever ice fishing trip to North Bay this winter. I have ice fished in the past on Simcoe but the other 3 have never ice fished. Any hut operator recommendations or location advice would be appreciated, thanks.
  8. Why does your Yammy have a timing belt when a timing chain would last the life of the engine? Like car engines the timing belt is an unnecessary expensive repair when timing chains last the life of the engine.
  9. Sorry for your loss Cliff.
  10. It only has 42K on it and needs battery, brake work, rear wiper motor, fluids replaced.
  11. Finally bought it for $3800 uncertified. Passed Etest but needs $1500 of work to certify.
  12. Great work on your "cabin". You certainly have a lot of technical know how! I have been following your thread since the beginning with great interest as I have also been rebuilding my cottage at the same time. I had to get building, plumbing and ESA permits with follow up inspections. Is it the same or different up there?
  13. I checked the body top and under it is good no rust. It has been towed to Dave's who is a good and fair mechanic. He is busy and can't look at it until the end of the week.
  14. Most bikers have an accident or fall at least once. A friend of mine fell a few weeks after I mentioned this fact, fortunately he was not hurt bad, sold his bike after. Another friend hung his broken bone pins on his handle bars as reminder after he healed up from a fall. You may not fall but I think the odds are against you.
  15. Got the keys and it took 30 minutes to get it running. Fluids appear to be ok. Going to have it towed to a mechanic for an assessment.
  16. I am still considering buying it but if I do will tow it to a mechanic to have it checked out and the tranny fluid will be replaced.
  17. The van body looks good, but I did not have access to the keys to check under the hood and inside. I doubt the oil has been changed in the past 3 years.
  18. Thanks Dan
  19. I am thinking about buying a 2009 Chev Uplander from an 80 plus guy who is in a retirement home and can't drive anymore. It only has 40K on it and should be good enough to tow my 16 ft Grumman with a 25 Merc on it. The problem is it has been sitting out side for about 3 years and not driven at all. It definitely will need an oil change, new battery and brake work. What other repairs do you think it needs to get it on the road and how much is it worth in this condition? Thanks for your reply. .
  20. When the mechanics and dealer employees are paid low wages that is what you can get poor quality people and service.
  21. That is the proper stove pipe flashing for a metal roof but is much more expensive than regular metal flashing. It looks like it has some flex in it, not sure that is a good thing for the pipe. Notice is has some sheet metal covering the up side to prevent water seepage under the flashing. Put your pipe near the roof peak so that the snow siding off will not damage the pipe. Great job and know how info!
  22. Your roof is looking good! How are you going to get your stove pipe through the roof and flange it?
  23. If the Robin's nest is successful last year they come back to the same spot, put something there to block it.
  24. Looking good!
