  1. I have a single and love the room and the ability to run about. While there are times I envy the full top full winshield crowd (mostly when I am a passenger in my own boat), I have never wished that I went the other way. There really is a lot of room in a single. Jim
  2. Congratulations! You have just realized the great intangible in fishing....the fish. They don't read the articles that we do on fall fishing (otherwise known as fall fishing advertising). We ran into the hunting thing a couple of weeks ago on Rice Lake. There was gunfire everywhere and every time you stopped the boat the calls would start. These guys blasted one about 100 yards from our boat. Then pumped about four more shells into it to get it to stop flapping (I think in the end it sunk from having about five pounds of lead in it). I never felt in danger at anytime but they did have the tip of my favourite island covered and the mouth of the Ouse river. Jim
  3. Nice photos Joey. We are heading up to Big Doe next week and the forecast is looking much the same as the weather you had. Thanks for posting. Jim
  4. Gold "eyeball" jig head from Northland with a YUM smoke with silver flake grub. Good luck! Jim
  5. Congratulations! She's a beauty. Jim
  6. Thanks for posting the "made in Canada" stuff. They are definitely the next boot I will be buying. Jim
  7. Nice fishes!!! The pictures are great but the background is all messed up. Work on it, kay? Jim
  8. Truer words were never spoken. My brother-in-law has a beautiful house in the woods, and complains non-stop about the squirrels and rabbits . Jim
  9. Thanks to all of you for the many great responses. I really do appreciate you taking the time. I am not sure how we will go but you certainly have given me lots to consider. Thanks again! Jim
  10. classic!
  11. Holy crap Wayne, couldn't you have sugarcoated it a bit? I mean put a smiley face on it or one of these Jim
  12. Hey all, I was wondering if anyone here might be able to help me with some ideas. My son is seven and an only child. He is very clever and plays house league hockey in winter and soccer in summer. He has just started in Beavers and it is the only hour and a half that he is out of our sight (other than school of course). The question that I have is what to do with him other than that? For instance, I have missed the boat on French immersion but would love him to learn the language (although Chinese would probably be of more help in the future). Is there perhaps a French club or something like for kids? The other thing that I would like him to do is learn to play an instrument. Any thoughts on types of music programs for kids (successes or failures that you can pass on)? I guess that I am trying to round him out a bit and also keep him engaged in learning, hopefully while having some fun. Also some other influences in his life wouldn't hurt (he has already mastered crabbing 101 and advanced smart ass from the Mrs. and me.) Thanks in advance! Jim
  13. Dave, I am not sure if this is one for DTV or the show, but I would love to see how you attack a unknown piece of water. I know on one of your shows you talk about driving the lake looking at your sonar etc. But looking at at map, what are you looking for? I love the little graphics that you have on the show to illustrate boat position etc. more of that. I liked John F's suggestion about boat differences. We want to be educated Dave, can you help us??? I enjoy the DTV vids. Thanks! Jim
  14. After reading your last post that got locked down I agree with the title of this post "What were they thinking". Jim
  15. Hi All, I have read many reports here and elsewhere that talk of the harvesting of Pike as a means of population control. But I have not ever found out what is really wrong with having Pike in a lake. I understand that they eat lots and I gather that they spawn more often(?), are those the reasons for removing them? Also it seems that Pike in Toronto get released and Pike in the Kawarthas get removed (and Pike in Rice Lake causes people to scream like a school girl). Please educate me. Jim
  16. Jacques, you are the man! I always thought I wanted to be Irishfield when I grew up but I have changed my mind. It's Leechman for me!!! (sorry Wayne). When do you find time to work? Jim
  17. Good question, me too. I am still using my golf rain suit and it ain't cutting it. Jim
  18. Fishing Canada was a re-run again, eh? Jim
  19. Uh.....eh? Take some time and get to know your computer. Splash's directions were very good. Slow down take it one step at a time and it will work out. Photobucket can be a little daunting at first (lots happening on the screen), get one of your kids to help you (or a neighbour's kid, or whoever knows their way around a computer). Relax all will be well. Jim PS. No pressure, but this had better be a hell of a report.
  20. Congratulations are in order. Well done! Jim
  21. Yah, now everyone will go to that culvert on lake Scugog. And try getting your hands on slip bobber now!!! Jim
  22. I'm laughing just thinking about it. Thanks. In these parts it was done on Q107 by a guy called Brother Jake (Jake Edwards) I think. But I remember someone doing it before him, I think. The you-tube clip sounds like I remember it on Q107 with Jake Edwards. I think. Jim
  23. Are you telling us that Botbot is the best 52lb Taekwandoer in the country? Wow! Congratulations to you both. That is very impressive (when does she start to get Olympic funding for training?). Good luck (fishing and fighting)! Jim
  24. My insight would be to ask your family that lives there what the fishing is like. Jim
