Transit strikes should be OUTLAWED - NF

The above may be a little harsh but the sentiment is probably sound. Remember that the media's job is to get you irate about things like this so you will tune in to find out the latest. Percentages of raises and benefit gains etc. are seldom as actually reported. I would also ask everyone to look at your own situation and say "you know what I get paid plenty for what I do, I never want a raise again" Won't happen. It is human nature to want to better your own lot in life and if it isn't then you've got a bigger problem than waiting for a bus. Jim -
Wow, this went south faster than Garry and Buck. I would like to take this opportunity to publicly apologize to all that I have offended. Mike The Bass Fisher in particular as there was clearly no room in this thread for anything other than technical pontification. I will renew my efforts to not slime anyones soap box in the future. Jim

Based on what I have just read in this thread, I am no longer going to make fun of those that lay their float reels in the water then post questions about bad bearings. When taking brand new reels apart becomes standard operating proceedure I say "let me wedge my way to the river bank and dunk me good, I'm a float lover!!" They don't call you guys master baiters for nothing. Jim

Didn't you just void the warranty? Jim

Skis and gators together!?! Isn't this what has them crying "FOUL!" in Rice Lake? Looks pretty good to me. Next you're going to tell me that there are walleye and bass as well. Jim

All the best for a speedy recovery! Jim

I think that most of us can relate to this. It is my intention to try ice fishing this year for the first time (My seven year old is asking me to take him ) this year. When I start to feel as you are feeling now I get on the web and start booking cottages for next year and buying way-too-much crap on the INTERNET. I think it would be cheaper to actually be a crack addict. Jim

That is a beauty! How heavy would that go? Jim

Thanks to all that replied. The overwhelming sentiment seems to be that I need to relax and quit getting so worked up about nothing and I think that it is sound advice. And probably applies to more than HNinC. Now, If I could just stop worrying about steelheaders and those goofy reels........ Jim

Here are some of the links that I have used in the past and have enjoyed great success in every case. Jim http://www.cottagelink.com http://www.cottagesincanada.com http://www.cottageconnections.ca

With my fishing season being over, and the fish snagging season being the only game in town until the ice comes, I thought that I would make this post. Please feel free to comment, pro or con. I hate the way that I feel (why can't I just watch a game and not think it to death?) and would love to have someone convince me that I am wrong. Because I can't seem to exercise my right to not watch. - When Don Cherry is busy patting himself on the back by showing past video clips, how come he never shows the clips where he predicts that the Leafs will make the playoffs every year? How does someone that knows hockey soooo well, get that wrong every year? - Mike Milbury is a bully. He just shouts down anyone that has an opinion different than his and seems to have a loathing for anyone that hasn't "played the game", which is most of the people that he is on the Hot Stove Lounge with. And Ron McLean has been relegated to peace keeper and behind kisser to keep Milbury from running rough shod over everyone. You need to have Healy on (the hot stove) to at least counter-act Milbury on occasion. - The CBC in general (and Don Cherry in particular) are at least partially responsible for the woeful state of the Leafs because they have propagated the notion that we are watching really good hockey, and if we don't think so it is because we don't know anything. Please help, Jim

I know what you mean. I have good luck on Cotton Cordell Wally Divers (not that they are cheap necessarily) and a fire tiger Frenzy thing that I can't seem to loose. My B-in-L swears by "AC Shiners" (again not cheap, but not Rapala either). It could have to do with a confidence level that you have with certain lures over others? Jim

Don't let it bother you. It's not really fishing anyway. Jim

Has your friend tried any of the cottage rental websites Rick? I have two or three that I use and they are super handy. Let me know and I will post the links if required. Jim

She lies and says she still loves him, can't find a better man... She dreams in color, she dreams in red, can't find a better man... Can't find a better man Can't find a better man Yeah... She loved him, yeah... she don't want to leave this way She feeds him, yeah... that's why she'll be back again (Better Man, Pearl Jam) We've been fed crap for so long that we are becoming more than acustomed to the taste, we are telling ourselves that we like it. A bit sad really. Jim

Congratulations Garry, you're living the life (I've said it before). You might be the last generation to live it that way, but you're living it. Good luck on the water! Jim

Thanks for asking, as I am an expert. It matters not what you buy, they will all be garbage in a year or two after you lay it in the water while you take photos. Or as twenty morons step on it while you all fight for your square yard of river bank. Best wishes! Jim

You are a good boy for even putting thought into this but I don't think that what you give matters all that much. That is to say that she will honestly be thrilled that her daughter has a guy that is thoughtful enough to show up to the party and bring her some flowers and a quality bottle of wine. Good luck! Jim

How many horsepower does your leaf blower have?

Wayne, is that a Rebel or a Maverick? Thanks, Jim -
Yes it was Rice Lake. Unfortunately I don't know the lake well enough to pick shore fishing spots. Sorry. Jim

The smile says it all brother!! And the picture in the boathouse/garage captures perfectly what the weekend was all about. If you could bottle that and sell it you'd be a rich man. Thanks for posting! Jim
