Hi All, Last year my wife had our back yard drawn up by a land scape designer. It looks good, I mean it looks like the research on plant types etc. was well done, but I have a concern. There is a divide between our neighbours and our driveways that is about two feet wide and all on the neighbour's property. The plan shows a line of cedars right down the middle of the property line (there to hide the neighbour's house, which is most heinous). They are split between properties because, I assume, that they would eat up too much of our driveway if they were all on our side. My wife says "No problem, I will talk to the neighbour and I'm sure that she will agree". I think that even if this neighbour agrees, when the next person moves in and has a survey done, they might say "Hey, those trees are half on my property, move them or loose them!" Am I right to be worried? Thanks, Jim

Thanks for posting that Dan. I am in the same boat (well actually, I'm in my boat) but it is neat to chronicle your kids lives through fishing pictures. Jim

Well, not in the Algoma region probably. I bought two on the weekend for 20% off of 74.00, so $59.20. This was for two med. 7 footers. But the next model up (the USA made models) were also 20% and the base price was about $110? This was in Hamilton, at Bill's B&T. (Even got two free St.Croix hats!) Jim

I agree with the low end St. Croix rods. I have four of them now and they have been great(and you can get them for way cheaper than 90 bones) Jim

I use this set up as well (except with a Diawa 2500, and a 7' Cabalas rod) but the line weights are bang on. I personally think it is a marketers dream that we start to buy rods and reels for specific baits. I mean groups of baits, or fish size, or fishing methods, sure, but I don't want to put that picture in my head that a certain set up is for a certain bait (meaning if tubes re not working, I want to throw on a senko without thinking that I have the wrong tool for the job, ya know?) I think that the above mentioned set up is good for lots of uses. Jim

Thanks for the original post Mark (I would not have known about it otherwise), and it was nice to meet you there today. Greg and Tim are fantastic guys. Greg gave my son two free lures on top of the one that he bought, and I grabbed a couple of St.Croix rods that were 20% off. It was busy in there, I hope the guys had a good day. Jim

I have four Daiwa Excelers. Two of the 2500's and two 1500's. They have performed flawlessly so far and I would buy another in a heart beat. I have not tried any others so I can't offer a comparison. I got lucky with my first choice and didn't go anywhere else. Jim

That was a good read Joey. Thanks for taking the time to post. Nice to throw some cash around southern Ontario as well. Jim

No, it didn't. Ignorance has no colour. Jim

Ya, ya, what Wayne said. Modify the one you've got. The local high school welding class can probably do it. Jim

Which will be trying to catch my Crestliner.... Jim

Remember Wayne, 8 hours from bottle to throttle . Jim

You hit the nail on the head brother! It is shame really because I enjoyed the beer and the thought of supporting a locally made product. As a lifelong Molson drinker, Labatts has always put me off (well, my guts anyway) but now they've pissed me off as well. I think I need a drink........ Jim

I am not sure, but that might just be for the camp. When I threw out the $3000 figure it was from Union Station and back (and honestly a quick estimate)for two. Not far off I bet. Jim

How are you getting there? I think taking the train in to the point where you pick up the aircraft would be very cool (but obviously very expensive). Jim

Hi all, I made the mistake of watching Fishing Canada this morning with Will and they were Walleye fishing at a place called Lodge 88. It is one of those places that there are multiple ways of getting to, making getting there half the fun. It brought up a few questions: Are train/plane/American plan trips hard to organize? Is there a service that puts these kind of things together? Are trips like this remotely affordable for the average guy and his kid when it is all added up? Are they at the end of the day worth it or would I be better spending the $3000 renting cottages locally for the entire season (or two)? Is the fishing that much better for all of the effort and expense? Have I just fallen for the bait that Fishing Canada threw in front of me? Thanks! Jim

I think that I have it figured out: Because I am looking at threads from the "view new content" tab, when I click onto a thread it takes me to the newest response since my last visit. I have noticed that if it is a thread that I am looking at for the first time, it takes me to post #1. Problem solved, marriage saved! Jim

Hi Gang, When I click onto a new thread I am immediately landed about 2/3 of the way through the thread instead of the first post in the thread. Does anyone have any answers, or should I leave my wife? Jim

No, but I own a Crestliner and know that you won't be sorry if you look at one of these: http://www.crestliner.com/sport-angler-sport-fishing-boat-1750/ Good luck!! Jim

Have a great trip! Jim

Yah, but she probably took her time though eh? Kind of sashayed out slowly with a "I'm better than him and I was on my way out to the coffee truck anyway" kind of attitude, eh? Mary!!! humph! who needs her!?! That's how I read it, anyway. Jim

Hey CW! I wanted to respond because I am glad that you have found this site and didn't want you to think that we are not looking for fishing partners, or are a bunch of snobby terds. Keep an eye open for various fishing activities that members run, some for charity and some for the sake of getting together. If you are not a float or fly guy, you are okay by me and welcome to marry my sister anytime! (Marry your sister Sir? Absolutely! you should hear the noise she makes when she eats a boiled egg. Bonus points for anyone that can identify that exchange). Anyway, welcome and keep your eyes peeled for future get togethers. Jim
