  1. Man you sure were taking some heat in the other thread for being a "closed minded bass fisherman". lol people.... Looks like a great year!
  2. This went sideways fast. Ranger makes all kinds of boats, mainly fibreglass but not necessarily bass boats. They make lots of deep boats for big water, along with deep v aluminum. And they make just as many multi species boats as bass boats, just because it says ranger doesn't mean its a "bass boat" I think he meant you don't see trolling rigs on a two seaters bass setup.
  3. Maybe try and carry stuff you can't get at Canadian Tire. Mega Bass and Lucky Craft are hard to find baits.
  4. Lots of people will be on Sturgeon and it applies to the scugog river from the Lindsay dam all the way to Ops boundary, which is way past those cement pillars everyone thinks it is. Its closer to bottom of Goose bay.
  5. No one will give you precise spot. But any lake with public access will have fish. Lots of lakes within 2 hours of gta that have public launches. Sounds like your new to fishing, make sure you read and respect all the regulations and follow whatever license you buy (sport or conservation). Bass doesn't open until late June, and walleye isn't till late May. Theres usually limits on perch and crappie as well.
  6. I don't know what a bluebook value is, but resale value (kijiji) of my boat is around $20,000. Im not worried about crashing it, more so covering it if it gets stolen or damaged when Im trailering it. Or theft from the boat when its moored.
  7. The company I was using the rate when up 50% this year so Im shopping around for another company. Anyone have companies they can recommend? I am currently with Harbour Insurance, but I imagine I will cancel with the recent rate hike.
  8. 17*c tomorrow. Top of scugog was wide open the other day when I drove by Valencia.
  9. Sorry about the cottage. Any reason your looking to sell now? Id imagine rebuilt it'd be a nice new place. I don't know if insurance companies will offer a cash settlement and leave an empty lot; I actually think they will make you build something. Id imagine there would be stipulations stating something must be built; otherwise the insurance money could be spent on something it wasn't intended for.
  10. How else can I justify a new boat? step 1 is more rods. Ill share one of my rods with you if you'll feel better about it. Ive got some snap swivels too lol.
  11. Rapala husky jerks, megabass vision 110, lucky craft pointers. Those are pretty common jerkbaits for bass. thanks for all the replies guys. I was was looking at the maxima ultragreen coply.
  12. Casting setups. I actually intend to use it for pike in the spring. And switch it’s use to bass later.
  13. I’m finding the sportsman show to be more of a flea market now. Lots of junk for sale completely unrelated to outdoors. And even the outdoor stuff is either full retail price (when Sail does 15-20% off in the spring) or it’s bottom barrel stuff. Theres a couple useful booths and and I spent the better part of a day there. Just feel like it’s a big flea market now.
  14. Bought two dedicated jerk bait rods this year, time to put some line on them. Been reading different opinions on all the options. I was going to just do braid + Fluoro leader.
  15. I was on couchiching and it had 3 feet of ice, my auger barely could get to the water.
  16. We stayed at the best western on Carlingview. It wa a cheap $100 for a night. They didnt have extended parking though, they offer it but it was completely full. So gotta check the hotel to make sure they have extended parking. The best western was $12 a day for extended if they had availability.
  17. Ya I imagine the used market went up with it. A new Lund Tyee is $98,000 lol.....
  18. Ya that would do it. Hard to justify $60,000 for an aluminum boat. Most of them were actually $65,000 and thats without freight, PDI and tax. So Id imagine well into the $70,000's once all thats added. And this isn't really a fancy boat by any stretch.
  19. Seems like the prices of boats has gone way up....Was looking at 18' aluminum boats from all major brands (Lund, Crestliner, Alumicraft, etc). All the boats in the 18' range were north of $60,000.....And obviously higher the bigger the boat got. Makes it hard to buy a new boat now. Boat costs more than my vehicle lol.
  20. Most medium lakes are frozen now. If you don't know the lake or currents spud bar always and float jacket. Just because someone on the internet says one thing doesn't make it safe. Be smart when on ice.
  21. If its out on the water the first thing people say is "catch anything?". Close second being "what are you fishing for?" If its online, "where did you catch that" Would be #1. People want your spot, they don't want to work for it.
  22. Im not trying to pass guilt here. I think regardless of what took place before what they did was wrong. I can't see any pretext that would justify torturing it. And to be clear, they didn't just kill it. They chased it down and tortured it and laughed about it. Did you watch the video?
  23. 3.5 billion loss so they could close it all down a few years later....solid investment
  24. Since I posted that the lake has opened up again with the warm weather and rain. Well at least the south end of the lake is open in lots of areas. Chemong south end didn't freeze at all actually and is still all open. Pigeon south end opened up as well.
  25. I don't think any pre context changes what they did. I don't see anything justifying chasing a coyote down with a snowmobile and then grabbing it by the hind legs and smashing to off the snowmobile. Not to mention laughing while doing it; the video shows them enjoying it, not mad that it bit them or killed there dog. Honestly kind of surprised people are okay with this....this video has nothing to do with hunting or coyotes being a nuisance. Lots of things are nuisances you don't torture them.
