  1. wow that is really close....id probably have said something. I dont mind if someone comes close but they are trolling past or moving quickly, and Im parked kind of in there trolling line, or vice versa. But to sort of just setup next to someone..........
  2. Ive found the Kawarthas to be unusually windy this year. Every weekend ive gone the main lake, even the river, are really windy with good current. Its tough to fish in and maintain boat control.
  3. I never understood why boat launches are a giant secret. Simcoe is huge......Share the lake people. I paid to launch out of Trent Talbot Marina, north east side. Theres a free launch to georgina residents further south, but not sure how it works for people who dont live in Georgina. I got a ticket over the winter ice fishing because I wasnt a Georgina Resident, but they dont even give you an opportunity to pay for parking. Its a weird system.
  4. I think theres pike or tiger musky in there. also some lakers.
  5. This is what Ive been finding. Im less concerned if its 22 or 24 degrees outside. Im more concerned with wind, and its been really off. Last weekend was calling for low teens and when we went out a massive storm with sideways wind pulled through and white cap waves. Needless to say it was more than low teens wind, it was high 20s if not more.
  6. WUnderground seems to be somewhat unreliable lately. A few times ive used it and its been really wrong, sometimes for good sometimes not. It missed a massive storm that ripped through the other weekend. And it was way off on rain for this weekend. Anyone else?
  7. Simcoe has pike and bass, very big bass too. But its a big lake and you need to have an idea of where to go. Otherwise Kawartha Lakes Balsam and Pigeon both are good for Musky. All Kawarthas have bass SM and LM and walleye. Balsam has pike as well.
  8. Alumacraft was not a choice....its G3 or Princecraft lol. $4000 is no small sum, not really comparing similar boats if thats the price difference. I believe that Nanook is bigger in all aspects length and width, and a larger motor. But seeing stuff first hand can really help you decide. I looked at a lot of "nice boats" online and when I saw them in person they were in rough shape, or not taken care of, or really didnt fit my needs. You can figure out quickly by looking at them first hand what you like more.
  9. Until I have 2 grand to get a nicer unit, this one has to do. Try and make the best of it.
  10. It seems the kipawa specifically states it's only 24 and 36 volt for the 3.5" model. I have a 12 volt 55lb motor guide w55. The stock prop is absolutely useless in weeds. Anyone used the machete prop from motor guide.?
  11. Oh ya? Yes it is Scugog River (Lindsay) im talking about. The water was like mud, couldnt see anything. And really high, and also several degrees colder.
  12. Water is about 3 degrees colder than a week ago water level looks up about 6 inches. And the water looks like mud. Can't see more than 6 inches in the river. Super windy today too. Needless to say couldn't get anything to bite. Between the wind and the zero water visibility.
  13. If anyone likes their show, I just saw what looks like all their shows uploaded to YouTube. A lot of the videos were uploaded really recently https://www.youtube.com/user/Fishncanada/videos
  14. Maybe my DI isnt setup properlly but I find the picture quality is low and I cant distinguish anything. I thought fish dont show up on DI, they show up as little dots? kind of hard to see no? The new Helix 7 has 8 hours of autochart live almost as a demo, once 8 hours is full you can stop or delete it all and redo.
  15. I have the Helix 7 DI model. And I actually disagree with AKRISONER, I never use the DI, I dont find it usefull it all, I mainly use sonar/GPS split. I find the DI just shows a more blurry version of weeds and doesnt show fish arcs. I wish I just bought the sonar/gps model. Maybe the type of fishing I do DI just isnt usefull. The autochart live feature is one main reason I got the Helix 7, as it included autochart live. The only problem is, theres no additional memory card slot, so if you have navionics in the slot the autochart live records to internal memory and in 3 weeks I filled the internal memory so I cant record any more autochart live. So kind of a useless feature for me at this point, as I only mapped a small portion of my lake.
  16. I know it made fishing my lake very busy on the saturday and sunday. Tough to say really. People want their tournament season to start right away.
  17. Caught some smallies today. Only fished for an hour or so for bass.
  18. Ya you can go wild with Musky lures. I thought the "regular" lures were expensive at $20-$30. But there is custom stuff for over $100 Canadian. these are $90 USD https://teamrhinooutdoors.com/collections/frontpage/products/supernatural-big-baits-10-mattlock And theres lots of lures in that price range.
  19. Awesome. I tried Pigeon on Friday, was very busy. Tried south to middle, and only saw one. Were you north or south?
  20. awesome report. nice lakers. never done lake trout fishing.
  21. Never heard Balsam called lady B.
  22. Awesome fish. what Kawartha Lake.
  23. Hey Gallie, what Kawartha Lake were you on ?
  24. skunked day one, landed a small one day 2. had one follow and one hooked one day one, but didnt land it. The follow was very slow and swam away quickly once figure 8. Day 2 in the rain was better, other than the rain lol. Not sure about no green weeds, on Sturgeon there's green weeds on the flats up to 9 foot to the surface. The weeds are very thick on the main flat.
