https://jamieschmale.ca/walleye/ General info: https://jamieschmale.ca/walleye/updates/ Saw this on another board. Just sharing it. I like that the MP cares about the area he belongs to. I personally feel the walleye fishery in the area suffers, but thats not based on any hard facts just anecdotal.

weather underground is pretty accurate for me.

More about the guys comment of its worse than when he brought it, which obviously isnt the case. I understand the previous condition has no bearing on the final product. The guys work is obviously unskilled and a hack job and Im sure he has very little knowledge of how to actually do boat work.

joke or serious? hard to tell. Airbnb if your serious.

Lots of guides offer this, its not unreasonable to offer a "free day" if you dont catch anything. Most guides are $400-500 for the day, if you dont catch anything you just spent a lot of money for a boat ride, in hopefully a nice boat. The entire purpose of a guide is to show you spots, techniques, lures, presentations, etc. Did he show you any of this? or was he just going to his hotspots and hoping for the best without much else. I really dont see the need to tip, but thats me, if the guides policy is to offer a free day, then thats his policy you shouldnt feel bad about it; if anything the guide should feel bad for not landing any fish for the day.

good to hear, was considering going there as well.

Looking for a somewhat technique specific rod, for bass and walleye. Would be used for vertical jigging, ripping hair jigs, shaky heads. I have another rod Ill continue to use for t-rigs, wacky rigs, and drop shotting. Not sure to go with fast or xfast. I find the kawarthas weeds pose a problem for fast tip and it often isnt enough stout to pull the lure through the weeds effectively.

Winds were high yesterday and today. Hasn't stopped raining all day either. Hopefully tomorrow is okay. Haven't found any fish lol. Lots of boats out though.

Pete guides with Sam Ecker on figure ate. now. I believe his prices went up with that as he is now a certified guide and charter. Don't hold me to that, Pete is a member here and sure will chime in.

Fishing Lake Muskoka Pike Open this weekend
Tjames09 replied to FishFinder17's topic in General Discussion
Looks like a good list according to the website, 53 teams. My advice would be to have a map or route in mind with a timeline in mind for each place. Thats what I did for GBay, had a route, and stuck to it. That would be without knowing the lake or spots that hold fish. If you know some key spots, Id drive right to them. As for the Bay fishing, Im not a tournament guy, but just out of respect Id want to be further than 50ft away. Your lines shouldnt be able to cast anywhere near each other. Some bays are pretty big though, and can definitely hold more than one boat.- 16 replies

I believe only either 29" or 31", somewhere around there, not huge, and not much bigger than the ones we pulled in. Lots of people bringing in pike in the low 20's.

On GBay it would only display the map in sort of big sections of contours with numbers scattered about, no matter how far you zoomed in it wouldnt display 1 foot lines. But if i scroll the map over to another lake, like Balsam, it shows all the contour lines, so its not a setting issue ( I dont think). Is the map card just out of date?

thanks guys, we tried all different depths, and found them in between 3-8 feet. We started at the back of a bay in 3 feet and were catching and kept moving out to deeper water and kept catching.l The fish seemed to be more in the shallow water though, less of them further out we got. The lure that ended up doing well was spoons. Reeled in really slowly. I tried all my lures at one point or another, and spoons was the only one that caught. We saw a big school of gar pike (fairly big ones), just right beside our boat in shallow calm water. At one point my lure hit the side of the gar and it didnt even flinch, they were not interested in lures lol. Would have been neat to catch a Gar Pike, but they just swam on.

Well thanks for everyones help on here from before, we did alright in our first pike derby, we placed 3rd of 22 teams. We've never fished Georgian Bay before, and it was a bit of guess work finding fish. We actually didn't find fish until 6 hours into the day lol. But once we found them we landed 6 pike in a row. We fished pretty much every bay and island in the Waubaushene area. Water was nice and calm so no issues boating around. Probably could have boated further than we did, but not knowing the water we decided to stay closer to where we started. Water ranged from 53* to 55*. Anyways, heres our two best fish. We total 78.5" for 3 fish, those both are 27.5"

Silly question. Can you hose out the inside of a boat?
Tjames09 replied to Tjames09's topic in General Discussion
Thanks guys, I noticed theres really nowhere for the water to go on the inside vinyl area. At the back is the rear folding seats, so the water has to sort of drain through the floor and the seat wall. Theres no quick access for water to escape anywhere. -

Well my greeness of being a boat owner is showing. Can I hose down the inside of the boat? Carpet and vinyl. Any concerns I should have if I do. -
Thanks guys. Would you recommend staying shallow like less than 5' of water. Or should I move out a bit as well and try around 10'.
