  1. No reason to buy top of the line rods and reels staring out. I started with a Quantum Iron reel and I don't even remember the rod...Presently I have 3 combos that are probably $400-$600 each...Do these catch more Muskies? Aparently no...But I like nice stuff! $80 is a great price for that combo and will likely be a great starting set-up.
  2. 12"-18" for casting, much longer and it is impossible to do a proper Figure-8 or L-turn when you have a fish follow...And you will have them follow...Dam things!
  3. Good to see you got out finally Eric!
  4. That would probably do it...But the BIG one is only 4"x1" bigger! Why not go with that one???
  5. Go to Bay City Marine in Hamilton, check out the Alumacraft line. 4 Stroke. If you are planning on Great Lakes fishing, bigger is better. 18-20 feet. DO NOT get an under powered boat for the Great Lakes, your life mnay depend on getting the hell off the water fast!!!
  6. A transome bar is one option...You can buy them or make your own.
  7. Wire line or Braid, 50 lb.(braid) is typical. Mono is too stretchy...
  8. There is a French River Prov. Park map that is excellent, basically a topo, no depths...Most canoe/paddling stores will carry it.
  9. I was recently looking at info on Herons and I believe Egrets are in the same family as Herons...
  10. Call Jocelyn Leung, Angling Outfitters in Woodstock.
  11. Nice, I take it that was Lake Superior?
  12. Lew, you out there??? Looking for Lew's email address...
  13. Whats with the glove? Don't like to touch the 'icky' fishies?
  14. Does anyone have a specific model they prefer for Flipping?
