primarily C&R ,,a picture usually does the job . a good scale you can trust just makes some days a little more fun. berkley gets the nod. definitely will use the weigh-in-the-net idea. old practise ,, i just don't weigh fish but i might start. once again ,, thanks guys ,, great site

like the net idea. i held a berkley scale tonight but didn't see any numbers on accuracy.

weight measurement has always taken a back seat to a length measurement. i've been catching some pike of similar lengths and was curious to the difference in actual weight. just don't like the idea of hangin' a large fish vertically to get a LB-idge on it. i guess this is a two part question ,,A what are your thoughts on holding large fish vertically {is it damaging? } and B,, what is the most accurate weigh scale on the market?? hand-held.

love my strikemaster auger!! love it even more at $2oo cheaper. some would prefer to bring their gear out in a COACH purse just to get noticed.

a good friend and i are planning on lake joe this weekend. problem is that we don't have a sled and the walk is of concern to me with regards to snow depth. he's a good buddy but i'm not draggin' his fossil butt off the ice 'cause he's winded. {especially if he out-fishes me} any info would be much appreciated.

i agree , seats in my canoe are a bit clumsy. i choose to either kneel and paddle or when it's flat stand and throw. ofcourse ,, pfd all the way.

canoe fishing is great for me as it opens the door to some of the smaller lakes in s. ontario where gas is not permitted. forget gettin' way in the back of the huge weed flats with my aluminum w\15hp merc. but the canoe gets me in and out of the slop , and with less of a impact on small eco's. fishing solo with trailered boats can be tough with launching \ loading in windy conditions and requires a fair bit more planning than firin' the canoe and some gear in the truck in under 15 minutes and launching in even less. i sometimes troll for trout with portable downriggers or cast the weed edges with spinnerbaits for pike , but really favor throwin' top-water baits in the slop for buckets. my sports pal canoe is so wide that i can stand and throw large baits confidently when alone in the canoe even though it's only 13 1\2 ft long . oh i love my aluminum too but for other reasons,, but the canoe is one awesome little raft and will probably see more water than the alum. again this year.

i also fish on a small shallow lake. deep hole of 17ft but i stay well away from that. i fish exclusively in water between 6 and 7 ft close to a mid-lake island and an adjacent shallow flat. big females seem to stay close to this flat throughout the winter and the fishing gets even better at ice-out. cruising in and out of feeding areas on weed breaks with subtle depth changes is where these big girls hang out. big pike don't always seek out the deepest water come winter. store-bought frozen sardines are great bait 'cause they stink and are very soft for great hook-sets.

i take a camera everywhere i go hunting\fishing\driving. unfortunately i got a skunking this year but have many photos when not actually hunting so still had a great year.even a 130 class at the GTA airport. another 10 pointer goes even bigger but just a bit out of 4x camera range. that's C&R . hunting aint always what you kill but more like what you take home without taking anything.

damn ,i'm hungry all of a sudden. nice !!!

have to agree with you mr. obanion,, as i was fortunate to grow up on the east coast and have also seen many varieties of coyote\coy-dog mix .both with varied coloration. the strict rule excepted by rural families then was a dog in the woods close to hunting season was a dog that shouldn't be there , hence, AKA a coy- dog,, shoot it. they were proving to be a big problem for wintering deer in deep snow . attitudes have changed but the meat of it lies here, that dog looks nnothing like a coyote ,especially when it's in close proximity to a residence . media grab or not, bad call

have to agree with garry2rs here , what's your target species? pikin' requires no fluoro[but i do under some conditions]braid is very fine and disappears in many fishing applications.love the new stren sonic braid.

no snares south of the french river guys, that's the rule. wish that was not the case. way to go !! cograts all the way!! great lookin' snare ,,but you might want to put a bit of branch material over the top side of your snare . many a time wary bunnies jump over a set-up that makes them a bit uncomfortable . a natural circular entrance thru branches works very well as long as doesn't seem to constricting .cedars are soft and hide you snare well 'til it's too late .snare on on full moons with calm winds to increase you efforts . bunnies run hard during these conditions.

thanks for all the imput . i knew this might ruffle some feathers , but getting your take on these two trucks ,good or bad , seemed a good idea. the nissan guy left a message with a good drop in price .a nice tight little buggy for the money yes,but let's see if he's done dropping. thanks again for your responses. much appreciated. -

how does a floor mat cause such a big concern? is the pedal lever too low to the floor and becomes trapped by the mat in the 'o8's??
