  1. just asking from an ignorant point of view. i hunt exclusively from hang-on archery stands.if you have the means ,,, ofcourse build it at home!!just looking for your perspective . look forward to seeing the finished product. by the way , always enjoy your posts 'bout hunting.
  2. never go wrong with suckers during the off periods. a lazy ,easy meal in cold water works well in spring or winter. hardest part is finding the confidence where to throw the bobber and have the patience to wait it out.where is she and why.spinnerbaits killm in these temps .
  3. why not pre-cut and build on site . must be a huge pain getting the stand to locatrion , no? scent and noise be the same?
  4. a great start to some awesome fish fries ! its early! congrats, thanks for the early post.
  5. great to get responses on a topic i thought might get little interest from the community 'cause of the close proximity to TO. just a great 5 hours of paddling ,, it's amazing how quiet toronto gets from such a short distance away, quite unexpected tranquility really. thanks for all your input,, just great ,.thanks
  6. these are the photos from yesterday on the leslie spit while fishing solo from a canoe.i was very surprised i didn't rocket the camera from my hands like a wet bar of soap into the lake.a small camera in cold wet hands is a recipe for disaster[ while fighting a decent pike].anyway, excuses aside ,, this is my trophy lake o pike!!
  7. fishin solo in a canoe is an awesome way to escape but it does have it's draw-backs. great weather today for tour of the leslie spit today but man,, that one fish kicked the snot out of me!!!! at first ,,damn snag ,, the weight of the initial hit was so strong and steady it felt like a huge drifting log ,,, wrong !!! the headshakes and deep continuous runs after that convinced me otherwise. this was a brute. 38in long and 17 3/4girth. this is something i've wanted to do for a long time ,the spit at ice-out,this is why. dealing with a pike this size in a canoe is one thing ,, solo is another. the winds were light and she was very cold. boatside release seemed impossible with double-treble hook-up but i remained patient and finally got the 2nd set of trebles free of her upper jaw. she was too big to be in the canoe with me so this worked out well. solo fishin' sucks, that is the pic's do.the ones i did get i can't even show,, tech crap!! even my daughter can't figure it out. so exuse the absence of pic's ,, the comp. has them on file from my camera but for some reason can not upload to this site. any suggestions before i go to GEEK SQUAD? thanks
  8. a bps prowler 40 lb thruster electric troller is my first taste of creature comforts in boat control devices.wanted one for a long time but only now did it make financial sense.a buddy gave me 2 ministry\road sign grade rechargeable batteries , can.tire had a great charger sale and i had $30 can tire moneys saved , just couldn't say no.lookin' forward to tryin' it all out. perch opener will be the try -out .
  9. sorry ,.just gettin used to the new deal here. that little doggy mangled the bumper of a police cruiser. i think you'd be a bit alarmed [ or should be ] if your kids were close .that's outside the realm of playful.not knowing the dog is a crutch but it doesn't look good from here.
  10. good on ya ,any size to these pikers and what was the trend in successful lure choice?
  11. weather permitting , gonna hit the leslie spit tommorow . gonna toss soft and hard baits in the warm shallow bays.hope to find a parking spot and fire the canoe in some quiet , wind-sheltered areas.
  12. who pays for the training of this aggressive dog?
  13. talks of a bounty being placed on coyotes\wolves in the near future in perth county. $100 per. being a hunter,,i understand all too well what happens when the number of canines exceed the carrying capacity of a given land acreage,,, trouble. sometimes justified for any species on whatever level on the food chain. there is a stew ,, a good broth,, on this topic brewing in TO. dogs and cats, are not coming home in the morning. coyotes are becoming very much a part of some urban communities and not in good way. they're adaptable ,skilled hunters and very cunning. being a scavenger , the coyotes appettite knows no boundries which is why owners of small pets should be very nervous. i've walked up within 20 feet a coyote in oakville just beyond the fence of swimming pool where 3 yr olds played while i was working. HEY!!the yote ran but wasn't too concerned about my presence until i yelled.they seemed to be a little more timid not too long ago. problem is i get a kick out of seeing anything wild while i'm flying across the 407 , deer, gosset hawks or coyotes. forget your in the city for a minute. setting traps or snares is one way to go but it's kinda sad. ofcourse i understand the concerns from all sides,, but it's just another huge workboot stompin' down on another fragment of inter-city wildlife. late night rant
  14. an incredible tragedy. report with some sensitvity.
  15. the dorsal fin is of a laker , the anal fins and tail are color and shape of a brookie. a lot of snow on the fish in the pic but that's what i see from here.
  16. record gold count ,, humm ,, ya ,, GREAT ACHIEVEMENT, and we're not done!!
  17. oh, and by the way,, i'm not at all jealous of anyone who lives north of barrie. ok,, maybe a bit.
  18. great heads-up on the probable spring sale at CTC. just that brampton is a different time and place for most outdoor enthusiasts. sale ,, no-name lures ,,who- made- lines and size 15 boots. i'll wait for BPS sale.
