that's when that stubborn streak others just don't seem to appreciate becomes a good trait. lol. way to stay on it. hoping to get out soon ,, thanks for the heads-up.

oh yeah , that was a good blow all right . i was out on it too! glad you got into some pans . keeping a few is always cool .but she's been closed for a while due to over-harvest,,if you enjoy fishing the lake ,,keep 6 on your neighbors . sometimes a lake could use a buddy to suggest some restraint on the catch&keep if you bare witness ,, ya know what i mean? i find most are receptive.

great day on the river !! congarts on some good lookin' pike ,,and that bucket's definitely a nice pick-up in the bonus round .

be safe out there the ice rain is here
waterwolf replied to Handlebarz's topic in General Discussion
was in the big city of t.o. for the better part of the day, driving was rediculus. 2.5 hrs. to get to brmpton . 35kms .with 4x4 guidance system. it's actully entertaining if you keep the right frame of mind . be safe out there . -
gbw ,, can't agree more . that stuff doesn't get a 2nd chance ,, i disliked it that much. thick aukward dental flloss, i thought. stren super braid is a god-send , especially for ice fishing for pike . it's been 3 years on some rewound spools without issue . i'll keep inspecting , but i've heard 5 even 10 years is possible 'cause light doesn't affect it like mono. exaggerated ,,maybe . frays are your best indicator. check every retie is the rule.

what's your target fish? they would appreciate you taking a pike or two if you're in . small perch,, a few decent crappy and a few bluegills are possible.if you get good ice they are usually pretty good with info at the desk about where and how. there's bait as well.

find the deeper weed-beds with transition to shallows close by . stay flexible ,, cut your holes in various depths early and be prepared to move if certain holes don't produce. on a shallow water-body stealth is essential ,, cut early , move quietly . i prefer SMALL portugese sardines dead-stickin' than any other ,,,. good luck.

10 x 6,, should be lots of room for 4 .ample room for stow . you're not sleepin' in there .i'm sure there are outside lines to tend to for a good % of the time . $35 a head 's not bad at all. been in tighter spaces and caught fish. it might be a bit small when the cheerleaders show up.

Sports Pal, rewards of fishing from a canoe
waterwolf replied to knightfisher's topic in General Discussion
some great testimonies to a great canoe via the camera. my first intro to the sportspal was with a buddy on sparrow .he's 6 foot and stood up and casted with some umph with a baitcaster,, i did the same . two adults standing ,, casting from a canoe . knew then i would own one very soon. nothing short of incredible. it's so wide it comes with oars not paddles ,and like some of the previous photos suggests has a modification to house a sail. this craft is unsinkable and only weighs about 3olbs . my first blue pike from that trip. -
probably a great idea , much easier on the ear drums ,, more eco friendly and faster cutting . the catch must be the cost, no??
-
way to go , bravehearts . great pic's ,, especially that slab crappy,, beautiful strain .

Some Goodies i got for my birthday!
waterwolf replied to MCTFisher9120's topic in General Discussion
good lookin' birthday score. the great thing 'bout gettin' gear as a gift is that it's the perfect excuse to get out and try it out right?? happy birthday mike -
at that price matt who would even consider resharpening?

i asked this very same question a year ago on this site,, trying to save a few dollars. the advice i went with was the new blade approach. the aggrevation versus the cost ,, no contest. the thought of another perfect day ruined on the ice because those blades were less than razor sharp will never happen again . new blades every season . depending on how many holes are cut each year. that dremel idea does sound interesting though . i'd try my handy-work close to home before goin' on trip , that angle gets screwed, 4in. of ice just became 3 feet.

flex ,, i now am more aware of the reason for your posting . yes , is my response . be quite concerned leaving a good friend outside for extended periods in close quarters with coyotes.they are very capable animals . intelligent .they'll figure out a way to get to a meal . keep a close eye on things , with a short leash .

Sports Pal, rewards of fishing from a canoe
waterwolf replied to knightfisher's topic in General Discussion
just bought a 14 foot sports pal ,, couldn't believe my good fortune . seeing those great photos is the reason why i bought this canoe. there is so much to be said for the low impact approach a canoe brings to a sensitive environment. thanks for sharin' -
always makes me smile seeing those litle guys within the city . doesn't happen often so when it does ,, stop what i'm doin' ,, and watch. good times. thanks jacques .

great lake . haven;t ice fished it yet but have had decent soft-water success. gotta be soon . stay safe

what's really disturbing is that i've seen the video of the lead-in picture to this thread,, that cormorant actually eats the pike!!! the tail hangs out of the birds? mouth 3-4 inches [lack of digestion track] not of this world i say!!

look forward to your future posts from the ottawa area . welcome aboard karlin .

this a crock . 150 lb deer don't disappear under the hood of BMW's. i agree with the dog idea .. fox ,, no!! at 140 a deer would destroy a car .

i have a sheppard\collie mix of 4years old who loves to run and protect the castle from intruders. 27and kirby area ,, i've seen many yotes too.i bundle up [most times] and go for the walk\listen while she hits the bush . she's a good dog and returns soon after a couple of blasts if she's too long . ,,but what if?? am i wrong in taking a couple yotes that could potentially see my dog as supper . i think you'd have a good debate on your hands to prove otherwise. the need for a cull is becoming very apparent in the upper gta .

thanks are headed your way too paulyboy, very helpful guys ,, thanks a lot , plans are now in place to hit the ice this weekend. can't wait.
