  1. a quick once over to bring you up to speed . i'm in my 40's but still in decent shape for my age . the guys i fish with on a regular basis are all over the place with their age groups. problem is here,, in shallow water i refuse to use a power auger in my vacinity,, deep holes like simcoe etc., give 'er! i enjoy caching fish and put forth a lot of effort to ensure i stand a chance at doing so. what sucks is that when the boys come out to play in the shallows on my fav. pond ,, i suggest i cut the holes with the hand auger just to keep things on the Q.T.. it sucks 'cause ,, what would you do if you have a power unit and a friend says "no, keep it quiet",, you're goin' to want to cut your holes with gas ,, damn straight . i have one but use it only in certain circumstances. am i being a bit anal on the noise factor ? do you think that it matters that much? between 6 and 10 ft. is the target depth. love their company ,,not their practises. tough bein' me. thanks
  2. great question!! i don't have an answer ,, just another question to add to yours. if you have a jug of gulp alive and add it to other brands of plastic would they assume the gulp flavour and become a close fax of a gulp bait? don't mean to nub your thread , same idea i think.
  3. poor bugger. atv snorkling isn't a recognized sport yet . do the damn homework before heading out on it!! atv's don't come free with a tank of gas ,, do they? that's ugly ,, hope he's ok. nice eyes that you did get ,, no complaints at meal-time i'm sure! well done.
  4. don't know the gun , but that is an incredible calibre. remember reading the stats against my .270 rem. fast but sooo flat. i think some one was mad at 'yotes when they designed that round. nice choice .
  5. that many fish in 2 1\2 hrs., who cares 'bout size? great to be busy!! nice fish all 'round ,, great day!
  6. some gals just don't understand ,,, being stubborn is a good personality trait. way to go,, you were catching fish today if it was in the cards or not!! make it happen!! thanks for sharin'.
  7. that's one chunky hen,, the girth dwarfs her pretty little head . you big river guys are a brave bunch. well done .
  8. you did very well in a short time . nice lookin' whities alright . surprised to here 'bout the lack of wind ,, that's a blessin' . yet to hit simcoe this year,, thanks for the tease. i'll get there !! good job on a less than balmy day.
  9. sounds like a blast !! enjoy your hunt!!
  10. smallgame licence says it's ok to do so.
  11. 3 hours later a deer has disappeared ,, i hate to say that ugly word but maybe ,,,,, bounty!! shouldn't loose wild game to coyotes . don't know about others but , hunting deer is a big financial strain on our family budget . the tags , the equipment , the gas ,, you guys know what i mean .. a full freezer is a great accomplishment . a decent rack on the wall would be a true testimony, real
  12. was talking to the owner of a hut renting operation a couple of years ago ,and he told me in"confidence "that the best time to catch lakers is between 4 and 5:00am on a still day. so we rented the hut for the night bite . although being the big baypoint operator he was out fishing like us,,,,he had two big lakers on the ice next to my hut at 7:00 am when i woke up from a hard nights ,,,,,," fishin' " he asked ,"how'd you sleep?"then asked " how"s the fishin'?" i saw his big forks tails on the ice ,, i said ,,,, missed a few good bites. big lesson learned ,, listen to these guys ,, but with a grain of salt.
  13. just want my rod back!!
  14. sorry , but what fishing gear is half off?? reels,, rods ,tackle ?? i've asked bps to put me on the mailing list but haven't received anything yet . i have just lost my fav. rod & reel down the hole to a pike ,, don't ask ,, it's still too painful. looking to replace it before the seasons end ,, i know , good luck , it's all gone . i know !!!!
  15. man ,, i don't mind the cold at all ,,, it's the dang wind that spoils the party. scimmin' holes is no problem ,, bringin' one on the ice is no problem. performing a delicate surgery on a beauty pike with a deeper than perfect hook-set in a howling gail when time for that big girl is an issue ,, is a damn near emergency , even on a small lake . simcoe with the gails ,, -15 to -17 could be a rough ride . be safe ,, be smart. i might stay home too! maybe.
  16. disciplinary action ,, huh? a group of workers leave the mail terminal with a sense of encouragement , or positive "umph" heading out to complete the task at hand , and someone sees a fault in this . happy , content employees do about twice the work and do it with more vigor than dead , discouraged spirits do. let those interested have ther 3o seconds of prayer , and hit their routes with some sense of direction , or even unconscience drive. no fouls here. we all get inspiration from many different directions .
  17. that's ugly . but at least you don't have to grunt through loading it.
  18. i was just on the 407 on monday near oshawa, nice buck still carrying his rack in an open field with a doe at about 10;30. being up high in a 5 ton truck offers a great view i sometimes miss from the seat of my pickup. the waste i'm refering to is the fact that it was killed by a car and no one got to enjoy some great steaks . [except for coyotes] nature's incredible in all aspects , these scavengers may not be pretty to some but i agree ,the roles they play are important to the whole balance of the eco system.
  19. no ,, you could see where the deer dropped in the ditch ,,got up moved further into the field ,then finally expired , then was surrounded by coyote tracks. like i said it snowed 2 days before this deer was hit . you wouldn't see any of this 2 weeks prior to the collision. this took place on jan 10.
  20. great photo's ,, just beautiful. a lucky guy who gets to buzz around and see that every once in a while ,, good for the soul,,, i would think . envious.
  21. to loose your deer that fast to those thieves ,, wow. they are definitely enemy # 1 to your friend ,, with good reason. ouch ,, did he get his deer after that to fill the freezer? another $37.50 tag thanks coyotes.
  22. thanks for the spelling check clamp-it.. it was getting to be a long day at 18 or so hrs. i'm up every day at 5:20. good to know your payin' attention. i should hit the sack soon or i might make another spelling error it's another 18 hr. day. thanks
  23. heading out to meet up with a buddy to hit lake st.lohn orillia for some pike action. heading east out of bolton on king road i first notice a huge part of a fied is turned upside down with a small dark spot right in the center. the closer i get i understand what has happened. road-kill deer just off the road about 40 yards . i couldn't believe how many coyote tracks there were. even the crows would have a hard time finding a bite. long tines on that spike horn . it snowed 2 days before so it didn't take those jackals long to clean this deer to the bone. wish i was close by when this happened , what a waste . i have a lot of guys asking for a "treat "of deer meat ,, hey man ,, it goes fast to many hands,, i have to say "no" to most , sorry , it wasn't a moose ,,but i'd be like santa if i had that one on ice
  24. great bunch of photo's . 3 really stand out to me . 1\ the colours on that football shaped brown 2\ rainbow in the shot with the wall of ice surrounding you 3\ the girth on the city pike , what a gut. all great fish for sure. thanks for sharin'
  25. yes jacques , she fought like a freight train . this really surprised me 'cause she hit very lightly 3 times . expected a hammer. set the hook on the third tap and she took a good off on a good run . thank god for braid . she was still making some strong runs once she got near the hole ,, that's hard on any line. got a 39in. outta this same lake {pond almost] last year and "heard " someone released a 44in. that'll keep you out there a bit longer even on the slow days .
