a contained power-plant is much more eco friendly, more quiet, exterior design friendly[better looking] and weather resistant than an outboard ,, but that's where it ends, sharply. unless you have 454 big block ofcourse , no further discussion required really. an outboard offers accessiblity to controls ,hydraulic lines, and quick visual inspections which are a must. fluid leaks are very obvious immediately and easier to assess . if infact service time is required , the outboard is far cheaper to repair than an intricate outboard due to accessibity. what if you decide to upgrade in power ? nightmare . buy a bigger boat . the average joe has a sporting chance if his outboard doesn't fire while out ,away from the dock. there are obvious check-points that are accessible to you to pursue ,not so much with the inboard. fuel systems are far less complicated too. that's just my two cents.

i'm not 100%,, but didn't the record come out of the bay of fundy at 60 odd pounds ?? let that set the tempo ,guys.

what's wrong with you ? you can't learn nothin' from a dang book!! your priorities seem to be in good standing,,, lots of time to fish when the exams are done and regular sleep patterns return. hang in there ,, good luck on nipissing if you get out .

looks like the weather was kind and the fishing gods were too!! nice pic's a great outing. wtg. enjoy the feast.

great report on some really tough conditions . guess you didn't get too bummed out when you're catchin' beauty bows like that with the new reel!!! big WAY TO GO . that's nothing like ice fishing ,, i hope they [viewing OFC'ers] get the difference and appreciate this post . glad to see things are payin' off ,, great job!!

bring on the rain ,, lose the cursed snow .plenty of ice to weather a bit of rain. just makes it easier to get around. a foot of ice doesn't disappear overnight. insulated rubber boots are dry and warm enough for anything on the plus side. don't fear the chinook!!

world class stripers runnin' thru the mighty saint john river . never fished for them myself but "fishin' canada ", well pete, did a show on stripers . dig into their web site ,, i'm sure you'll get all you need right down to the gps locations. not sure of the web address ,, maybe some OFC'er can help with that . it's been a while since that show aired ,, good luck.

another pike fan is born!! good job guys!! wtg!! -
ever watch the "charlie whites' fishing show ?[a noted pro.] he claims to catch more fish from the bilge juice than a scent-trail made from natural . the pioneer of underwater fish cameras ,, after all . not that i'm a believer in that thinking ,but some may be.

my friend ,, that's some crap luck right there,, ofcourse i'd blame the wife!! lol

i'm a big fan of winter pike,,,, firm flesh..yummy!!! matt ,, that's funny!! you are so right . one hole will produce all day when others within 6 feet get nodda. i'm talkin' shallow ,, 6 to 8 ft. here. 6 guys ,, 2 holes per.... 1 guy same bait gets 90% of the action. just weird . don't have an under-water camera to study why.
-
adventure ,, yes ,, great day? ,, i don't know 'bout that. gettin' out is the cat's no matter what happens ,, you are absolutely right, sinker. tough day though, no doubt. hey doc.,, sorry i can't offer any help but good luck in the search for brookies. great pic's ,, and ya ,, i do smell something. lol. no worries ,, most likely someone will post somethin' you can use ,.great bunch here.

fished for specks thru to my late teens growin'up,, even walking the banks of small streams on soft water is enough to scatter cagey fish. stealth is the key.
