  1. Unless line twist is an issue, Just use the snap. I use stay lock snaps in 30-50 lb and they are small and light enough that they dont effect the action of most baits. For small jigs and live bait I like to tie direct to be a little more finesse.
  2. S-4; not more than 1 greater than 46cm (18.1 in.) C-2; " " You really should get a copy of the regs.
  3. I've always wanted to ice fish for bass, maby this will be the year for it. Only 11 days left.
  4. I find breathables a lot more comfortable. And if you buy them big enough to fit 3 or 4 layers of fleece under them they are plenty warm.
  5. Great technique. I read another artical by In-Fisherman that suggested that 80-90% of fish released with a hook in there thoat or stomach die within one year.
  6. I dont know about this time of year, but in the summer Theres lots of pike, bass and channel cats around the wolf island ferry docks.
  7. Your absolutly right. I just havent seen much difference in functionality between the cheaper and more expensive ones. It seems, as the price goes up they just look more fancy.
  8. I have had one for about 5 years now and its worked great for me. But I dont think I would buy one again, for I dont see the point in paying so much for such a simple style of reel.
  9. I'll be out there looking for muskies. Looks like a wet day, but there will probably be a good bite with a cold front coming through. Could anybody tell me what the water temp. is on any of those lakes. Just curious.
  10. Nice Niagara steel. I hear that area is bad for vehicle break-ins. Its a shame that its not safe to leave things in a locked car.
  11. To catch the fish I've got the gear, a rod, a reel and a case of beer, a fishin' boat to get me there, twelve dozen plugs and lures to spare. There's just one thing thats buggin' me, I've added and subtracted til I cant see, with all my equipment I have found a fish costs $150 a pound.
  12. It displayes in exact real time. So it shows how a fish reacts to how you present your bait with no hesitation. this can be a big advantage when the bite is tough.
  13. I read an article on this and it suggested that walleyes move into the bay of quinte in the fall for 2 reasons, to feed on the baitfish that move in, and to stage for the spawn so they dont have to move as far in march when they are bloated with eggs and the water is colder. Both thing have to do with both water temp and date(shortening daylight).
  14. Oxygen levels get higher at actual last ice, when the shores start melting. And big pike are easy to locate just before the spawn.
  15. I have found the notty to be really tough on high water falls, like this one. There is just nothing to hold the fish back so they blow through so fast its hard to intercept them. I would try something that will really get there attention like huge bright roe bags or big obnoxious lures.
  16. I've eaten sheapshead a few times, and I have found that out of warm water they taste bad and the meat is soft. But out of cold water they taste great and the meat is firm.
  17. Funny stuff, I heard that one a few times in my mohawk days.
  18. Nice pike. I dont think thats a jake, Ive disected them before and they are plastic. I think the grandma lures used to be wood and they look the same.
  19. I know its stupid but technically that is the rule for pictures, but most CO's wont bust you for it. As for a net you are allowed to use one only for the purpose of getting the fish unhooked and realeased quicker and easyer.
  20. Best time for a big one is after turnover (below 50 degrees). Fish deep steep breaklines.
  21. Yes, it is legal. Its just like fishing once you have your limit, or during catch and release seasons. Once the fish is cought you must release it immediatly. Technically that means no pictures, or mesurements. But most CO's wont care if you take pictures or mesurements as long as you treat the fish respectfully.
  22. I'm pretty sure you can be charged for drinking and boating the same as if you were in a larger motorized boat.
  23. Put on the maximum amount of clothes you think you will be wearing under them and try some on. Thats the only way you'll get a perfect fit.
