There based on moon phases, wich are usually a minor factor in fish activity. But it is the only factor that can be accuratly predicted long ahead of time. So its not a bad resource for planning trips.

B.C., Oshawaw, and then the moon. Thats quite the road trip.

Some nice steelhead there, good job!

Fished the lower river from shore yesterday. Started up in the glen area and the water looked really nice, 7-8 foot of vis. and blueish green. Tried roe bags and all kind of artificials, but couldent get bit. Then I tried some dead baits(3-4 inch shiners) I had left over from ice fishing and hit a couple steelhead and my brother got one on a power minnow. Nothing for the next hour or so. So we decided to try a different spot. Saw this on the walk back and thought it looked pretty neat. Down lower in the river there was only 3-4 foot of vis. But we got into a few browns using power minnows.

I have only used dacron on tip ups. But I have heard about people using it for trolling when banging structure. They say the stretch keeps the lure from snagging, and the thin diameter gets it deep.

As far as I know, if it is a navigatable river you are allowed to be in a boat(someone cant own the water). But they can own the land on shore.

I havent used much pink, except for steelhead and salmon, and it works great for them at times. But purple has become one of my confidence colours in clear water for almost all fish.

Definitly In-Fisherman. They are always at least one step ahead on offering new ideas, and they explain them in detail. They also get into the nature of the species more than others, wich goes a lot further than just tips and tricks on the water.

I've been really noticing this in the past couple of years too. This past fall I cought a silver chinook with a lamprey hanging off it. It was about 10 lbs, fought like a bullhead and just tumbled down stream when I let it go.

A lot of the new "ultra realistic" lures that just look like a hokey cartoon version of the real thing. They catch more fisherman than fish.

Nice fat pike! Is there much open water around there yet?

Runners will definatly extent the life of your sled. But when it gets slushy and cold, they freeze up really bad and make it really hard to pull.

I've really enjoyed checking out all the other year end reviews so I thought i'd put together my own. My musky season was ok, I just didnt get out enough. Out of the few times I got out a couple of the trips were successful. Had this one blow up and totally miss my jackpot. About 20 casts back to the same spot and she inhaled it deep. cut the hooks, revived her and she swam away with lots of energy. I really hope she made it. A nice little fall pig for my brother. My bass season was pretty good. No real huge fish but a lot of really nice ones, a few of my biggest this year came while musky fishing. I tried a new kind of fishing this year, open water trolling (down rigging, planer boarding, that sort of stuff). I learned this is not one of my favourite ways to fish, but cought some nice fish doing it, including my PB. walleye at 8.6 lbs. Didnt do much ''trib fishing'' this year, but got out on the big river a few times with decent success. One of my highlites of the year was catching a 54'' sturgeon while dragging a tube on lake Ontario for bass, took close to half a hour to bring it in. All around it was a pretty decent year, my only regret is that I did not spend enough time on musky.

Good job, I guess there are still some true jumbos in Simcoe.

I was out there too, it was a pretty tough day. The screen on my flasher would light right up, I'd catch a few, then they'd dissapear. So I experimented with some different baits and found the best way was to jig aggressively with a large flashy spoon, then when they came in I dropped a small jig tipped with maggots and cought a few at a time. That stayed consistent throughout the day and I cought about 80 with 30 keepers.

At least 6'' of solid ice and about 5 or 6 small groups of people out there.

I fished a couple of small local lakes with my brother the last 2 days. The weather was beutiful, around 0 degrees, light winds, mix of sun and clouds. Cant ask for much better in December.Cought a real mix of fish wich made for a fun couple of days and a nice meal today. 9 pike 1-3 lbs, a bunch of crappies up to 13.5'', a few pumpkinseeds up to 10'', lots of small perch, a largemouth and a bullhead. heres some pics.

I went to get my sticker today and I was told there are none in the KW area. Looks like I'll be doing it online. -
Nice fish, that 11 lber. is a pig.

It was always nice having a semi local spot to catch nice size pike through the ice. Hopefully next year.
