  1. The Pool was really slow today.. That might even be an understatement. Dunno if the rain lastnight turned the fish off, but sheesh we worked really hard for a couple of small dinks.. I got home around noon, had a nap, ate some dinner and decided to hit a local trout stream. Water was gin clear.. Lure of the day was a BlueFox #0 silver spinner. Picked up about 10 or so small bows, biggest about 10inches. Had a pic all setup for the biggest fish, but she flopped loose and back in the drink she went, lol.. I did get a pic of this little beauty though. Hopefully you guys had better luck today then me!
  2. I would love some backwoods musky action! Musky or Specs, if you need a young buck to carry a canoe anytime, just let me know :) Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I am going to go hit the local trout stream tonight!
  3. Now if I could only get some hints on how to find the crappy in this lake
  4. Stirring the pot eh Dano? lol!!!!
  5. Oldman and I decided to hit Gloucester Pool again this morning. It was going to be an early day because we were sure the boat traffic was going to be heavy as the sun came out and warmed things up.. We were on the water by 5:10, early enough for it to still be dark First fish came at around 5:30, probably one of the biggest smallmouths we've pulled out of here, the belly on this fish was huge, easily pushing 4lbs. We have found that all the fish are keying in on the rocks.. A rock/weed mix with access to deep water has been the ticket for is this season for sure. We've been fishing topwater almost the entire season and have done quite good. The big weedflats that this lake has many of, seems to produce the best for us at dusk. I am sure some of you think we are crazy for only throwing topwater, but it's just to addicting I have a dropshot setup on my spinning rod, but it hasn't hit the water yet, lol. This pattern might not fill the boat, but you just can't beat it for the fun factor. We were off the water at around 9:30am, and went 10 for 13. Nailed this little scrapper off a big rock flat in about 3ft of water. Next cast and his hog decides he wants to chow down on my Zara Spook Jr.. What a pretty fish, a few pics and she was back in the lake. We've also decided that the only fish making it into the livewell this year will be pike/pickerel. The bass are just to much fun to keep.
  6. Portage for ski's? Sounds like it could be interesting!!!
  7. A used Chronarch or Calais.

I think GCD is onto something here with shrink tubing...
  9. Some of you guys/gals get into the booze early!!!!
  10. Traffic was light today coming in from Barrie to TO at 7am. Drive home will most likely be a bit busier as a lot of people skip out of work on Friday and make the trek up north tonight. Traffic tomorrow morning will be light, but I'm working from home I'm not going to chance all the citytards.
  11. The best weed point isn't even marked on that map
  12. Wow, those things are absolutely monsterous!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Raf, that is what I am really after.... Catching a fish would be just a bonus. Mouth shut, ears open
  14. I've been skunked this year while actually out for muskie.. Tried the French River for the opener, 3 days 14hrs a peice, not even a follow Got back out about 3 weeks after that trip to Balsam trying to get the skunk off my back, but no luck either... Finally 2 weeks ago while out on the Pool fishing for bass, this thing clobbers my zara spook I am really thinking about giving the guys at Georgian Bay Musky Charters a call and booking a charter, I'd love to get a chance to hook into, or atleast see a monster. (sorry for the crap pic, but I am still excited about it, lol) If you want to email me the pics, I could host them for you in my Photobucket account! Just shoot me off a PM...
  15. Any chance you have the model # of that box? I need something to put my muskie lures in.... keeping them in a big cardboard box is getting a bit old
  16. I saw a monster pulled out of the Bay on another musky specific board I've only got one so far this season, but I am hoping for a few more. Welcome aboard!
  17. Mike, we really need to get out fishing
  18. There is a rock shoal in the main lake basin directly across from the private kids camp. Should be the only white bleach bottle you see out there Excellent place for pickerel.
  19. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Dick Pearson has a nice writeup about LOTW in his book Muskies on the Shield.
  21. Sheesh, I gotta start reading up on these moon phases, lol
  22. "I think we are going to need a bigger boat" I only dream of seeing a fish like that behind my bait, let alone getting it to strike!!
  23. So who determines the cause of the failure? I think this is where the problems start. I'd suggest a Google search, there are a few reviews and they aren't very favourable, lol.
  24. Moon/French River basins, Blackstone Harbour are a couple of known good spots. Be warned though that GBay can get real nasty really quick. Personally I wouldn't venture out there until I had some good hydro maps and a chartplotter. Many people believe that the next world record will come out of Gbay, I tend to agree with them.
  25. I have heard nothing but bad things with 3rd party warranty companies... Make sure you read the fine print
