  1. To bad that chip is only for US waters.
  2. That thing would be great for cleaning up all the squirrels and chipmunks I'd leave him be.
  3. Only trucks that have ever seen our driveway are GMC and Toyota. No complaints on either of them (Except the mileage on the V6 Tacoma was horrible for the size of the truck.) Currently the oldman has a '07 GMC 2500HD Duramax, absolutely loves it. A '06 Jetta TDI also is stashed inside his garage.. Personally, I don't buy cars that aren't diesel My '00 Jetta TDI has 475,000km's on it and there is no sign of it giving up anytime soon. Only thing that isn't original engine wise is the starter. Besides a few sets of brakes, some e-brake cables its all original. Maintenance is the key to having your car/truck last a long time.
  4. A big musky will have its way with you on that setup. Also, the longer you play a muskie, the worse chance it has to be live released successfully. The reason all the pros use heavy tackle (XH casting rod, 100lb PPro) is to get the fish in quickly and get it back into the water. (And probably not to lose $30 baits, lol) Crank the drag down if you happen to get one. If it gets off, it gets off. If you play it for 30mins, the odds of it surviving aren't very good.
  5. I'm allergic to all freshwater fish, and not a big fan of saltwater to tell you the truth. A bit ironic eh?

There is a nice fella by the name of Mark who represents Okuma in the US. I purchased it from JB's and noticed on a US message board he was offering a free power handle. I PM'd him and asked if that offer was extended to his Canadian customers. 1 week later I got a new power handle in the mail Can't beat companies that do that little extra for ya...
  7. Get out before the sun comes up and break out the topwaters You should have NO problems connecting with some big smallmouths... Same thing goes for the evening bite.
  8. Lew, that is great news!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The air up north does wonders for recovery time
  9. The palomar knot for braid is a no brainer, takes all of 5 seconds and it probably the strongest of them all.
  10. For the wacky rig are you guys actually piercing the senko with the hook or is there another way of rigging it?
  11. He'd be better off on Gloucester Pool.
  12. I run Power Pro and Spiderwire Invisibraid Ultracast on my muskie setup. I've snapped off Power pro 3-4 times, never the spiderwire.
  13. As it was mentioned, big muskie lures will snap off 14lb test like it was string.... I've had a TopRaider snap off 50lb PPro a few times, luckily I got the lure back
  14. Happy belated Roy!!!! Sounds like you had a good time with the family!
  15. I thought letting the big ones go and keeping the little guys for the table was common sense? I guess there are more people who lack common sense then I originally thought.
  16. Thanks guys! While I was reeling it in, I think I said "It's a musky, it's a musky!" about 100 times Even my oldman was pretty pumped up about it! Now, to find that elusive 50incher
  17. I have a Garmin StreetPilot C330 that I'd be more then happy to lend you for the trip if needed. Updated with the latest 2008 maps.. Just let me know.
  18. I like the Trilene knot for mono, palomar for braid.
  19. Jose, this thing casts a mile.. Atleast an extra 20-30ft beyond my Citica.. Even with the 30lb braid and the small spook, zero problems.
  20. Yeah, I think the Moon/French River delta is probably one of the best places to pick up a giant. I'm ready anytime, just let me know
  21. For boat control, nothing beats a bowmount. But I think you are pretty limited to a transom mount on your boat.
  22. I wish I actually caught it while musky fishing with all the new gear I've picked up in the last 6 months, but I'll take it any way I can. My PB before this was all of 12 inches, lol.. I'll have to hit Balsam again soon, and maybe Pigeon. I am itching to get some slime on my musky setups!
  23. Yeah, quite a good test for the new rod and reel My dad was teasing me pretty much all night about my virgin setup, lol...
  24. Finally finally FINALLY!!!!!!!!!! Dad and I went out to Gloucester Pool tonight to try out my new rig (Shimano Calais 200 + St.Croix Avid 7") on some smallmouth bass. Didn't hit the bass like we have other nights, I think we got 4 in the boat and missed atleast that many.. On our way back we stopped at a new spot I knew had some nice structure.. First cast netted me a 3lb smallie, a few casts later a monster bass rocketed right out of the water, completely missed my bait but gave us a good show none the less.. A few casts later with my Zara Spook Jr and the water just erupts and my rod doubles over... All hell breaks loose as I try to tighten the drag down because this fish is running like mad.. I get it tightened down and start to make some headway.. Maybe 30 seconds later after some bulldogging she comes to the surface for a big headshake.. I yell out "HOLY IT'S A MUSKIE DAD!!!!!!!!!!!" He starts to yell at me, "Don't horse the wrong word thing!!!" lol!!! I get her coming towards the boat and one good scoop and she is in the net. Not a monster by any means, but atleast a new PB for me. We didn't get a measurement on her because I really wanted to get her back in the water, I would guess somewhere around 36" or so and maybe 10-12lbs.. Gorgeous fish, no marks at all and extremely feisty. Hooks popped out in the next, 2 quick pics with my cell phone (ugh, they turned out like crap) and back she went! Here are some really crappy cell phone pics.. In the one pic she looks tiny for some reason The other not to bad. Even with the crappy pics, I sure you can see the big eating grin I have on my face. What a night!
  25. Sounds like a Bowfin. :EDIT: Whoops looks like someone already mentioned it.. Also, they aren't very friendly fish (watch your fingers and toes, lol)
