  1. As much as I enjoy browsing a tackle shop, most of my shopping is done online. If the Cabelas in Canada are anything like their website, I fear they may be headed the way of Target. Basspro seems to really be pushing their own house branded stuff. Not sure the last time I was even there.
  2. Very nice! I never liked the arm, mine has a Vexilar float on it. My Marcum hates me.
  3. That's too bad, only 55 too. He was an 80's icon! Most people probably don't know Visage, but when they hear "Fade to Grey" they most likely will recognize the song.
  4. For that budge, I probably do a 1 week trip to NWT, Nunavut or Yukon OR a 2 week trip in Northern Ontario, MB or SK.
  5. Don't have much to add, but I saw this video on a Youtube channel I subscribe to and thought it was interesting. A glimpse into how they make blanks and carp rods from them.
  6. If I were after Trophy Pike, I'd definitely hit somewhere in MB or SK. Won't be too hard to find the famous ones using Google. Otherwise, my Ontario bucket list includes a lot of places(sorry, it's probably too large to really be worthwhile). These outpost/lodges are either on big bodies of water for trophy fish, remote bodies of water for overall quantity and quality or luxury destinations that will pamper you. Lodges: Anderson's Lodge Birch Lake Lodge Hawk Lake Lodge Kesagami Wilderness Lodge Knobby's Fly-In Fishing Bamaji Lake Lodge Mattice Lake Outfitters Ogoki or Whitewater Lodge North Caribou Lake Outposts Thunderhook's Smoothrock Camp Wilderness North - any of their five lodges Outposts from the outfitters above and: Amik Outposts Big Hook Wilderness Camps Halley's Camps Hidden Bay Lodge Kabeelo Lodge Kenora Air Nestor Falls Fly-In Outposts Pickle Lake Outposts Showalter's Slate Falls Outposts Sportsman's Lodge Wilderness Air Hmm, yes, probably far too large a list. Do you want a lodge or an outpost? Food? Trophy's more important than numbers?
  7. I've heard good things about Flindt Landing Camp, another train in fishing camp. Not sure if you can hop on the train at Hornepayne or not though. Otherwise you catch it in Armstrong. I fished Windermere two years ago in the summer. It's a nice lake. Fishing is decent, but not like fying in. No clue on whitefish. I'd go back, but would stay at the outpost so I wouldn't have to boat so far to find the fish! The rates at Happy Day are really good too. You'll have a hard time finding better.
  8. That's very cool. I am sure it's more to test the concept than anything.
  9. I've seen baitfish do that in the Kawartha's, they just happened to be a lot smaller =). It's amazing how they have to get into the water to take a picture with the fish, lol. Those big groupers are insane.
  10. It won't matter. I lived at Yonge and Finch for a long time, and had my share of near misses with pedestrians. People are just oblivious, especially since the iPod was invented. I used to see plenty of people do some crazy stuff and risk their life to catch a bus too!!
  11. Glad to help you out Rick. Hope the event is big success!
  12. Very cool! I've read plenty of horror stories of people crashing their drones on the first day. That would be me, lol.
  13. I've never been out there, but is it primarily a perch fishery? I moved to London a few years ago, but I still travel up to Simcoe and beyond. Would be nice to try somewhere closer to home.
  14. I've been to Evelyn twice and Windermere once during the summer months. Smallmouth fishing was quite good for us on Evelyn. Just target the rocky areas of the lake and you'll land some real nice fish. We didn't target them as much at Windermere but we caught some nice fish in the weed beds when fishing for walleye & pike. On Evelyn, I'd probably stay at Garden Island since it's located centrally and you can easily access a lot of good water. It's American plan only though. Happy Day Lodge is a great place too. The rates are really amazing, so it fills up fast. The only problem is the lodge is located at the far end of the lake so you have to travel quite far every day. So, I'd recommend either staying at their outpost camp or renting the largest boat they have, and they do have a few. The owners also run Prairie Bee Camp on adjacent Prairie Bee Lake. It might be worth checking that out too as I think that fishery has potential.
  15. Nice knot, not sure why I've never used that before! Do you guys tie on a swivel or direct to your lure? I've never tied large test line before, so not sure if it's even reasonable to do out in 'the field'.
  16. Looks good! Your son has the look of "My dad has the coolest job!!" Why the heck are you wearing shorts?
  17. Those are huge! They look like they should have come in a non-descript brown paper wrapped package, lol. Wasn't Canyon Plastics the first to come out with a plastic tube jig?
  18. I went into a Target early tonight to spend a gift card and it was actually somewhat busy! People are obviously looking for deals, but they aren't out yet.
  19. For some reason the map I have appears to be only half the lake. Not sure why. Here is the link (probably better to right click and Save as): www.lineonfishing.com/images/Ontario_Outpost_Lake_Maps/Bobs_Lake_Lg.jpg
  20. I have depth map if you need one. Let me know and I will clean it up and post it.
  21. This is no surprise at all. I cannot believe how badly operated the stores were. The whole Target fiasco will undoubtedly be a chapter in many future Business 101 textbooks. I do feel for all those who will be losing their jobs. Hopefully their failure doesn't scare off any future retailers from setting up shop.
  22. What about those chemical hot packs like Hot Hands? Toss them in your mitts and keep'em toasty!
  23. The only places I can think of within 1.5 hours would be Gilford on Simcoe or Island Lake in Orangeville. https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?oe=UTF8&t=m&ie=UTF8&msa=0&mid=zrxIUdIkvzRw.kpa7eQLd0UmE There are also hut operators at Long Point on Lake Erie, but I have never been.
  24. The cable I posted above is NOT the correct cable. You need a digital audio coaxial cable. Read this on the Philips website. My understanding is that you will need a digital to analog converter. So, you need a digital coax cable going from your TV to the converter. RCA cables then go from the converter to your receiver. Unless of course, your receiver has a digital audio input. The picture doesn't show one. Hopefully someone else can confirm this, I am no expert
