I would suggest Mackinaw and Mackinaw Island area for a stop over........FANTASTIC area with lots do along with fishing.......Mackinaw Island is must go thing......no cars allowed and you have to boat over there in the many people ferries they have there. The GRAND HOTEL is something to see and take the horse draw carriage for a narrated guided tour.

Whatever guy you pick, NEGOTIATE with him. There is a LOT of room in those quoted prices when it come to stuff like this. Their quoted price is not in stone........if they say the best price they could do it for is $5000, tell him you are budgeted for only $4400 ( for a example). Good Luck and hang onto that wallet because they want it ALL..

I hope you guys that are interested in ice fishing have a great year. I now like my ice in a glass with rum & coke......I am more interested in when is the lake gonna thaw . . . . LOL

Our wood burning stove is a convection stove that draws in the heat naturally and no fan is need to heat the house. Great way to build it and I wonder why more are not built this way..... this is the stove we have in our living room. http://www.lopistoves.com/product-detail.aspx?model=208 Another thing is that we don't vent the pipe out the wall but instead out the ceiling as it's a single story ranch house. This way even more heat is being distributed because the pipe is also hot before it leaves the living space.

If I can I always buy refurbished items and have never had a problem with them. My cell phone, Keurig coffee maker, 2 DVR's and this desktop computer just to name a few.

The wife likes good WOOD . . .

That's when fishing is the best and I go to my drift mode . . . sit back, drink a good cup of coffee, maybe a cigar and let mother nature push that boat around until the rod bends with another Lake Erie pickerel. . . .

I use my Power Drive V2 70 lb with i-Pilot all the time to slowly pull worm harnesses on Lake Erie. Once you get the speed you want you press the "cruise control" button on the remote and it will hold that speed even if the wind picks up, etc.......also once I set the direction I press the "N" button on the remote and it will insure the boat maintains that direction also. Can't beat that with a Ugly Stick . . . LOL It is also great with spot lock for perch fishing on Erie. NEVER use any anchor again while fishing perch. Because of this TM I have no need for a "kicker" on the back of the boat.

So how much do you think the gut pile weighs, I have no idea but I'm guessing about 40 lbs......might of heard that somewhere.

Right away with trying to call me a A$$ without knowing the facts. This is why many newbies don't return here. I'll take the high ground and let it go. Buddy of mine has a deer processing business and has butchered thousands of deer of the years. He was asked to do a demonstration of how to butcher deer at Cabela's a year or two back and I dropped by to see him do this. One of his first questions to the crowed was how many of you shot a 200lb "doe".......many hands were raised and he laughed and said he could count the number of 200lb "does" on one hand and said how heavy is this deer hanging here. No one came even close as it field dressed out at 87 lbs. BTW when talking weight of deer, we always field dress our animals before putting them on the scale.

The only times I have been close to a crime is when threads are locked/deleted for almost no reason when they were just getting interesting. I hope this one continues well into the night.

200 lb Doe...........now that's funny.......

Boat away for the winter: full gas tank or empty?
Mister G replied to KawarthaAngler's topic in General Discussion
Right from BoatUS article : Winterization and What You Need to Know About E-10 Gas Putting a Boat Away for the Winter? What You Need to Know About E-10 Gas. Nearly full tank or nearly empty tank? That is the big question facing boaters now in the midst of preparing their boats for the long winter hibernation. The concern is ethanol - an octane enhancing gasoline additive that has some unfortunate, harmful side effects on marine engines. Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) has some tips learned from fuel industry insiders on how to store a boat with E-10 gasoline (containing 10% ethanol) over the winter. The octane issue: Some boaters choose to leave their boat's gas tank mostly empty over the winter, and then refill in the spring in the hopes of "refreshing" the fuel to regain any octane loss. However, a nearly empty gas tank introduces a bigger problem: the strong possibility of phase separation with the E-10 gas. Incidentally, over long winter storage periods, E-10 gasoline loses octane at about the same rate as non-ethanol gasoline. The path to phase separation: Ethanol (an alcohol) can attract and absorb water - about 10 times more than regular gasoline - and still burn harmlessly through the engine. However, there comes a tipping point when the ethanol can no longer absorb the water, and the alcohol will separate out or "phase separate" from the gasoline. When this happens, the solution of water soaked ethanol will settle to the bottom of the tank, which is where the engine's fuel system pick-up is located. Can you see where we are headed with this? More water, less absorption: The problem with leaving a tank mostly empty is that it increases the tank's "lung capacity" to breath in moist air (water) through the tank's vent. If the tank is mostly empty over the winter, there will also be less E-10 gas in the tank to absorb the moisture. This combination of more water and less capacity for absorption greatly increases the chances of phase separation. Adding fresh gasoline in the spring would not remedy the problem - the phase-separated ethanol remains separated at the bottom of the tank. The Water Separator issue:E-10 can hold up to 1/2 percent of water by volume and up to that concentration the water molecules will dissolve in the gasoline forming a soluble mixture that will pass through a water separator and burn harmlessly in your engine. The only time water will collect in a tank and not be absorbed is if phase separation has occurred, and by then it will be too late. A water separator is not a solution to the phase separation problem. The Fuel Additive issue: Fuel additives are good for many reasons and should be used when laying up a boat for winter, but no additive will stand up to a good-sized slug of water. And once too much water has entered the tank and the gas has begun to phase separate, no additive will return the fuel to its original state. The only solution to phase-separated gas is to have a professional drain the tank and start anew. The best advice for storing E-10 in your boat's gas tank over winter:Keep the tank nearly full. This greatly reduces the volume of moist air that can enter the tank via the fuel tank vent when temperatures fluctuate in the fall and spring. With any fuel, an antioxidant (found in many additives) will help keep it fresh during lay-up. Finally, never plug up a fuel tank vent - it creates pressure that could cause dangerous leaks in the fuel system. -
Boat away for the winter: full gas tank or empty?

I do the same.........I hate when I go with someone's boat and they stop for fuel on the way to the launch......grrrrrrrr With the plastic fuel tanks I don't think moisture is a problem like in the past but I still fill up my boat and run 2+4 through it starting in late October. -
I can always tell which are mine, I even give them names.......like breakfast, lunch and dinner.

NICE....looks like some Good Eats there . . . . . . . . . ENJOY ! ! !
