Here's the KKFC 2020 schedule

If interested check out "Kawartha Kayak Fishing Club" and "Hard Knox Kayak Fish'n" on Facebook. We have very regular get togethers and often get 20+ kayaks show up to attack a lake. I've met a lot of good fishing buddies through those clubs.

For sure. I've got the Hobie paddle the boat came with and it's always with me. In the video I posted in the kayak thread you can see it sticking out by my fish finder.

Gordy - I got mine lightly used from a friend and at a friend price or I'd not have been able to afford a Hobie myself. I'd still be in my WS ATAK 120, which I also loved but I have a bad shoulder so I wanted pedals before I needed pedals if you know what I mean. There are so many great kayaks out there now (and a bunch of really cool new ones dropping this year) there's really a kayak for everyone.

Yes I have the 180 Mirage Drive (180=with reverse). It's a game changer for hands free fishing and boat control. Also a game changer at days end when it's time to head back to the launch. It's pretty fast and walks away from most paddlers. I am also blown away by how much it holds. I did a pedal in water access camping trip last year and it held more than 3/4 of my camping gear inside the hull.

That's funny! The reason I asked is my first kayak was a Perception Pescador 120. I recognized the shape cause Perception used the old Tarpon molds.

Maybe we need a OFC "No Motor" GTG just for us paddlers/pedalers....

I've got a lot of seat time in kayaks over the last three years and I'm super impressed with how stable they are. Obv some more than others but I never considered needing a stabilizer. I'm looking to get this one out on Simcoe this spring so maybe that will change 😂

I enjoy kayak fishing so much I sold my boat and now only fish from a 'yak. I've bought a new (to me) fishing kayak each of the last three years and finally settled on one I love and won't be selling - a 2018 Hobie Mirage Outback. I love pedaling and wouldn't go back. IMG_9244.MOV

Welcome back Roy. Glen if you were at the Lakair meets I went to they were in 2002 and 2003 (yikes thats a long time ago!)

You can buy it as an upgrade to your existing motor or factory installed on a brand new trolling motor. One good thing about doing it this way (for kayakers at least) is you can get a cut down shaft option with full warranty as Pronav are Minnkota authorized. Being able to look at a screen on your phone and touch drop route waypoints on an overhead satellite pic (or Navionics map) is pretty slick: I was thinking of putting this system on my ATAK120 (kayak). But I started doing more backcountry stuff (wheel in or paddle in) and decided a Hobie made more sense - no batteries to charge and less weight. Otherwise I think this system would be killer on the right kayak (or boat).

I get the same from people at work when I tell them I'm going ice fishing on the weekend. "You're crazy" "that's dangerous" Etc Always amazed when I ask "oh what are you doing this weekend" and I get the answer "oh we're going downtown to a club/bar" I tell them "You're more likely to be shot, stabbed or run over than I am likely to go through the ice"

I'll put in a vote for Anglers Haven. Had a great trip with them two years back. They didn't have the weekend I wanted this year or I would be back with them.

I have 3 and all work great, no problems here. Some people have problems using 5# tanks, again no problem here. Key is to use the right hose AND a propane filter. Also, always turn off the propane first and let the heater run out, that way there's no gas still in the hose (which can degrade the rubber if you don't have the right hose). Finally if it doesn't want to start/stay running hold the dial down for 30 seconds after starting the pilot until it warms up a bit.

I have to agree with you here. I was probably part of some of the more contentious threads that got the "No political threads" rule implemented in the first place. Since then I have dutifully avoided commenting in the political threads while watching everyone else carry on as usual. What is the point of a "no political threads" rule if in actual practice it's a "post Politics all you want and it will be locked after everyone is divided about the subject" rule? Either allow political threads or don't, but the half measure is doing just as much damage as not having the rule at all imo. I'm going back to not posting in these threads this is just food for thought for the mods.

Thanks - believe it or not I get quite a few that size every year at this spot. I cant seem to catch a damn thing there during the day though so it's a good thing I like the night shift!

You still taking the toon out on the Simcoe or are you done for the season? I've got about another month to go. Starting to mix in the river already though.....
