  1. yes, the act of carrying a knife and using it on someone immediately comes with the catch of it being premeditated. You can use items from the environment to defend yourself, but the fact that you are carrying a deadly weapon and then subsequently use it on a person means you were carrying the knife with the intent to use it to hurt someone. I am sure the court would hear you out if you were carrying a leatherman while fishing and used it to defend yourself after you got jumped by a junkie in the bushes...but if you carry a knife with you to the bar and decide to get in a fight and use the knife...you are toast.
  2. im guessing simcoe is wide open again as of this morning?
  3. As i thought, Nylander looks like garbage out there. The kid doesnt care and unfortunately thats something you cant teach. You either have determination or you dont...and hes as flat as a pancake. I figured when he was holding out that the guy wasnt the type of player that you "win with" and sure enough, its ringing entirely true. That Subban goal was pathetic, ive seen guys in my M division mens league team get out to the point faster that that off of a defensive zone faceoff. At least this time he didnt flamingo. BRUTAL
  4. Not such great advice, because in 99.9% of situations in Canada any culprit would not be carrying a firearm themselves and as such if you were to god forbid pull the trigger you would be finding yourself facing a first degree murder charge. Especially because you have clearly brought the weapon with you wherever you have gone. its no different than carrying a knife. I know plenty of people who carry a knife on them. They don’t realize that if they ever use it on someone they will be getting an attempted murder / murder charge. i hope the police do their jobs effectively to stop the problem. If you choose to turn a blind eye though and be complacent you are potentially part of the problem. I understand that most of us feel that we can hold our own, but perhaps some neighborhood kids go for a bike ride or hike down the wrong path. We all have a job to be dilligent. im on a streak now of 6 consecutive trips through barrie stopping at either the Wendy’s on Fairview or the shell on Bayfield and witnessing, drug dealing, prostitution, police standoffs and general tweaking by junkies making a scene.
  5. i wish i had intel but ive always wanted to try ice fish quinte as well. Global warming etc just keeps making all of these spots less and less available every year. The window to fish these kind of spots is either non existent or very tiny. Bloody simcoe is hardly safe, and its the middle of january! Bucket list spot for me, add it to Parry sound for lake trout, i may never see the opportunity to ice fish it in my life time.
  6. i thought about this too...the whole (he got concussed by taking a shot off of the mask during practice)???? I saw Talbot take a slapshot straight between the eyes on saturday and no one cared... Mis, i like insider info...and im a fan of Hutch, his postgame interview showed a lot about his character...he almost was in tears he was so overwhelmed with emotion.
  7. i think sparks should be worried. Hutch is saying and doing all of the right things. In his post game interview he genuinely spoke about how special it is to play for toronto and that he is doing his best to take the opportunity and run with it. Hes not the heir to the throne so to speak. I sometimes feel like Sparks believes that he deserves the back up spot because of the season he had last year with the marlies. Babock loves a guy that understands that getting to play in the NHL for the leafs is a special thing. Remember though, Hutch is new, like any goalie it takes the NHL a little bit to figure out your cracks and then totally expose them. NHL players are so good they almost always inevitably start making good goalies look average after time. Thats the world we live in with film and analytics. Teams know where to shoot from and where to shoot. Jesus even Carey Price looks extremely mediocre now. Thats how good these guys are. Good for Hutch though, he definitely has a calmin presence around him as well, which i think sparks lacks with his more wildstyle aggressive goaltending.
  8. man that things like a mythical beast well done!
  9. Lol when the sens win the draft lottery this year, how sweet it’s going to be to see it go to Colorado hahaha. chris d help is the only necessity at this point, especially with the way ozighanov and hainsey have been playing lately
  10. The rare glass tiller..very cool anyone that doesn’t like a glass boat probably has a few screws loose, most likely from being bashed around in a tin can ?
  11. There’s a joke to be made in this thread somewhere...? thanks for the tip though, I use magic erasers to clean my sneakers (also a hot tip) and as such I’ve got a huge supply from when canadian tire was selling them for .50 cents a piece
  12. Hit up sail today, better pricing than crappy can, cabelas and bp and today it was 20% off git a reel glove neoprene reel cover for $4 jackall rythm waves for $5.50 an pack northland buck shots baitfish style with the rattle, $4 a pop yamasenkos $9 a bag that’s unbeatable considering Canadian tire now charges 12 a bag
  13. It won’t be, win now needs to be there mentality the cap won’t allow them to ever be this good again barring another entire rebuild. now is the time to make the moves to try and win now expect a blockbuster trade for a top pairing d man before the deadline I can almost guarantee it. Don’t be surprised to see the likes of kapanen gone. His value will never be higher
  14. Total shame what’s going on out in Oshawa, I fear barrie is turning much the same. Seems every time I go through these days I see junkies prowling.
  15. heres a taste for ya...from 2 weeks ago! more to be done this weekend.
  16. caught my first brown in that spot, wasnt that kinda big tho holy cow lol
  17. lmao kap is gonna make 6 million next year and its not gonna be with the leafs unfortunately.
  18. Damn you got enough fish there to make musky stew for the next 50 years unreal report as always, glad this one popped up while I’m spending some time at the hospital with the girlfriend, makes the time pass a little quicker.
  19. You have to think about the value when considering this move. Kappi at this point is actually of higher value than Nylander...as such teams are going to want him in order for them to give up their big time D man. Other names on contracts that arent up this year are also now being thrown around. I see it as a package of Kappanen + a piece + a draft pick for a big time guy like petrieangelo
  20. you mean to tell me the scugog locals havent brought out their pick ups yet?
  21. thats exactly when you do it Here is a list of UFA D men as of the end of this year of none playoff teams Jay Bowmester Alex Edler Marc Methot Nik Kronwall Michael Del Zotto Carl Gunnarson Adam Mcuaid Ben Lovejoy And lots and lots of talk about Alex Petrieangelo as his contract is done next season.
  22. exactly...you need to win now, you have the cap space to sign a big name rental, everyone is firing on all cylinders, you have the best offense and possibly goalie in the league, sign the big name D man and go for it.
  23. you cant, hes too expensive and hes not as valuable as a high level stay at home d man. Trust me i love the guy but you gotta give up good pieces to get good pieces.
  24. would still much rather just use a rolder holder tip up. I dont want the damn machine setting the hook for me...One of the funnest things in ice fishing is seeing the flag go off and line peeling off of your spool. closing the bail reeling up the slack and setting the hook.
  25. bingo...leafs need to acquire a stay at home D man and their pairings look a heck of a lot better. If you have gardiner there to skate the puck with someone who can protect the house you have a very very good d pairing. Im personally of the belief that kapanen gets traded this year for a star D man. His value is astronomically high because he got to play with matthews all year (on pace for close to 40 goals) Hes going to be too expensive to resign next year if he continues on the way he is...hence you trade a very very high valued young piece plus a prospect or a draft pick and use up that cap for a high quality D piece and make a run at it this year. I think Dubas has to know that the window is about as wide open this year as it will literally ever be again. If I am him I am going all in to try and win this year.
