  1. Not to hijack this thread, but i may as well ask a couple of questions too then? is it actually that hard to catch 5+ bass in florida? the boys and I have considered haulin the tinner down there to do some camping/bassing yes ive fished salt, and I am obviously aware that it is literally insane...hook into a baby tarpon and youve got 12 lbs of high flying pure fury on your line. My concern is with boat access etc. Obviously if you are going to pay a guide, then yes go salt 100% but if you are hauling a tinner down for the spawn, then what?
  2. i started a thread about this last year...seems no one has actually made an purchases...ive heard of the skeena gloves as well, but the price is hefty...lately ive been using some thin underarmour running gloves with heat packs on the palms...works fairly well, but itd be nice to not have to get your hands soaked every time you catch a fish. The search for me continues as the weather continues to get colder... I dont know about you Landry, but once my hands get cold they actually begin to go completely useless, to the point that my fingers literally stop working. Poor circulation is a curse, and im generally a pretty healthy guy...i looked up some information about it and unfortunately its mainly just genetics.
  3. god, Tiger is official bucket list update for me...i need a 40 and to make a mount...i swear they are the most badass looking fish in the world.
  4. This whole city is doomed, the AA removal, the friggin lewekie replacement...good god. Ive lost all faith again.
  5. watching this video is making me sad im not back out there this weekend...after the best weekend of fishing in my life last weekend, watching this video might tide me by a bit.
  6. im interested to see the rainfall totals, its been relentless in toronto
  7. strange pattern here, but this might change in the fall? I fished last weekend before the saturday storm...friday was clear and the fishing was garbage...after the storm was ok...and obviously during the storm was straight fire... but it seems like in the fall the calm before the storm is no good, while in the summer it is?
  8. lol to people thinking babcock is shook...he took the job knowing this exactly what was going to happen...why do you think they sent all of their best players down to the AHL...everything is going perfectly according to plan.
  9. i think they are spot on if not under estimating this storm thus far. I havent seen driving rain like this in toronto in a while. We get this kind of rain when it comes off the bay up in Parry Sound, but in toronto we dont see extended hard rain like this very often.
  10. i sure hope you saved the cheeks, thats the best part!
  11. the tinner is really really stable when gear is in it...ive had one close call running it close to empty by myself into a wind storm. I pulled a big catwalk and nearly flipped it over backwards in late november...that one was scary. But as far as taking on waves when its full of gear, ive never had much of an issue, she is generally very very stable as far as tinners go. Its just when you get too comfortable and both dont think to not reach over teh side of the boat at the same time in those waves that you run into trouble. Lesson learned for sure!
  12. lol at some of these stories out in the chop, thats nuts.. Ive been in 10 footers with my dad but that was in a 28 foot boat. Also i forgot to add! When dave was in the water, his primary concern was not to ruin my phone hahaha (hence i still have the photo of the smallie)...he actually said to me while in the water "scott, your phone!" while holding it above the water ahhaha I quickly responded "DAMN THE PHONE THROW IT!" ...to which he reached in from outside of the boat and threw it on a seat so it wouldnt go in the bottom of the boat and get wet...what a crazy guy ahahhaa
  13. if the wind is blowing, fishing the in an area where fish can escape from the chop just outside of the mess usually produces.
  14. weather and fishing are 10000000000% correlated. Went up friday...literally didnt even get a bite...saturday came, we caught 25 walleye in 2 hours, headed out for smallies and caught 7 with 5 of them being over 4lbs. sunday morning, the walley bite was a lot slower, caught 12 in 3 hours. but then headed in and my buddy caught an 8lber of the end of the dock. Storms are the ticket, fish during a storm, you will catch a lot.
  15. dont get me started about Dave and his insanity, he is probably half crazy but thats another story.. just a few points here, one...dave was standing on a casting deck...it was the fact that we both inadvertantly decided to go to the same edge of the boat at the same time plus a wave hitting us at the same time that caused the problem. We learned our lesson the hard way there to ensure that we are coordinating how we move around the boat while handling fish...that was learned the hard way for sure. I know for me, i wear my PFD at all times, and it would have saved my life regardless of what happened...I woulda have been cold and sad but I know I would have survived...a drift would have pushed me right on to a nearby shoreline with a cottage on it. It does show you how things can sure happen in a flash though. Id like to point out that I was not out in the big part of the bay...and nor have I ever gone out in the big water in the tinner...i know how insane that part of the lake can get in a blink of an eye.
  16. This past Saturday I was fishing out in open water on Georgian Bay hunting smallies. Heavy winds, rain and general stormy weather made for some sketchy boating. After arriving at our location I was happy to see that the majority of the heavy wind was being cut off by a point providing us with a bit of protection from the direct storm. (there was no way you could fish in the complete open, 4 foot breaking chop) we get the trolling motor in and even in protection the waves are still rolling a bit with the odd 3 2-3 foot rogue roller throwing you off balance. within 3 casts I catch this beauty image share literally 2 seconds after this photo was taken i reach over the side of the boat to put the fish back...and dave with my phone still in his hand stepped to the same side, a roller caught us and the side of the tinner went underwater and in dave went. Dave having the death wish that he does, doesnt wear a lifejacket, his boots and bib fill with water and he feels himself being pulled down, he manages to swim back to the boat...grab the side and pull himself up in over the side of the tinner. If he was not young strong, and good at swimming, he very easily could have drowned. The crazy bugger told me to not worry about it and we continued to fish for another 2 hours before he finally admitted that he was getting cold...thankfully he did because I put a 21+lb bag of smallies in the boat!
  17. thats one of the fattest kawartha skis ive ever seen lol
  18. and so concluded the best fishing weekend of my entire life thus far...over 50 walters boated, and a 20+ bag of smallies

  19. now thats the best point, when criminals are hoping it doesnt get legalized...something is up lol
  20. are there actually people still in the anti camp? Dont get me wrong, im not going to vouch for people doing anything to their bodies, be it weed, liquour or even fast food...but everyone dabbles time to time in some kind of vice do they not? if you dont, well holy crepe good on you! I think the biggest point of contention with all of this is people driving under the influence...which i will never condone be it, the drink, the weed or the pain killers or any other mind altering substance. i think that has been the biggest difficulty in the whole legalization discussion. Aside from that though, the idea of taxing it like alcohol not only saves on, enforcement, and legal costs, it also removes billions of dollars in funding from organized crime as well as increasing public safety. All while becoming an additional revenue source for the government...how can you lose? Manitou, in the essence of the government being so concerned with public safety, ive heard of people having bad trips...and getting in to trouble...dont get me wrong people do terrible things while drinking too...its just all relative i guess.
  21. lol #blamekessel lmao...systems, coaching and perhaps the chemistry has gone stale. This is the NHL, other teams adapt, when you see the same system/lineup for so long things just go meh, theres not much spark and the system gets solved by other coaches. Coaching change and things will pick up.
  22. Im not a believer of killing fish for mounting purposes with the replicas that are available these days. But!.... if its dying anyways for verification purposes, why not get a mount? What else do you think you should do, throw it in the trash?
  23. lol pretty sure that blood on his shirt is just a design...still hilarious though...i wish it showed the slow motion cam to show exactly what caused it to ricochet so bad.
  24. The smallie opener is by far the best opener of them all...the action is absolutely insane, and the fish absolutely hammer top waters early and late. You cant go wrong.
