  1. barometric pressure simply affects the weather...if you try fish during a the tail end of low pressure or immediately after, the fishing is typically slow. if you fish before a big change, or during consistent high pressure i find the fishing to be better. Dont know if I have cared much for moon phases, because if i get the opportunity to fish Im gonna fish it... Weather on the other hand...can sometimes put a "damp"-er on things...it doesnt mean Im not gonna fish it...it just means I should know what to expect while I am out on the water.
  2. this is how you write a report...well done man. and friggin gorgeous boat...im jealous.
  3. got a mini tourney happening on opener...was wondering how this heat wave is effecting the water temps on buckhorn pigeon and chemong. Any of you bys been out there? Jimmer? Im sure you were in the vessel this weekend?
  4. thats a kawarthas giant well done! gonna take some casts to beat that one for sure.
  5. nothing like the fight on the fly...love it

  7. good to see another lady killin it in the game. welcome
  8. I once caught a baitcast combo...the combination of my own and the baitcasters drag system plus the branches snagged to the caster combo made it seem like the fish was making runs! What an epic fight. my brother also legitmately caught a rubber boot. I couldnt believe my eyes
  9. PVC pipe all the way. Been hauling rods around like this for years

  11. you can see how he would really clash with less talented quiet players like patches...hahaha perhaps the most enjoyable thing about Subban is how butt hurt Montreal is about it ahahha
  12. good luck tomorrow gents...get some pics of those submarines and post em!
  13. seriously, if you hate subban, you are either A) racist or an idiot yourself you are actually going to dislike a guy because he celebrates when he scores and chirps on the ice? seriously? Can someone please tell me one actual negative fact about PK Subban that would serve as a reason to hate the guy? The guy has never said a bad thing about anyone, he donates a ridiculous amount of time and money to a childrens hospital, is not a "dirty player" and literally never even said a bad thing about montreal when they dumped him for a geezer. my favourite quote ever was when a banana throwing incident happened somewhere and they asked subban what he would do if someone threw a banana at him...."id eat it"
  14. having fun, scoring and winning are such terrible traits...we need to do more to punish kids that like having a good time while playing hockey. More parents fighting in the stands is also a great idea. I get it...the humble approach ala auston matthews, sidney crosby, wayne gretzky, mcdavid is great...but subban catches 100000x more flack than guys like taylor hall, tyler seguin and brad marchand who are just huge coke head d bags...what a joke.
  15. id love to believe that these big class walleye are past their prime and thats why...but catch one of them and you instantly realize, not a chance. I see the 30 inch eyes that come out of the inland lakes and the fish look old ugly and haggard. the two biggest eyes we caught on Gbay were 8 and 9lbs respectively...both were not over 27 inches long and both were absolutely spotless. They looked as healthy as any of the hundreds of small fish we caught. I find it very very difficult to believe that these perfect specimens of walleye are in worse spawning shape than the big haggard monsters that folks are pulling out of the kawarthas. you be the judge...this fish doesnt even have a nick on its fins Im convinced that there are plenty of 10lb+ eyes in lake huron/georgian bay and if such is the case, no one is going to convince me that a .5lb 16 inch fish is already starting to get into the prime of its life and will be done and washed up once it grows another 4 inches and gains another 1.5lbs
  16. no its not...thats the point. lol my cottage sits in the uncharted area near skunk island...weve got navionics platinum....there is nothing. and yes...i have an entire life time to map the area...so what that means is that every time I am fishing, I will be charting. Im not trying to chart the entirety of the PAB area, but over the course of the next 10 years I think I could end up with a pretty significant portion completed.
  17. this is exactly why i need autochart live...unless you are running the navigation lines, its basically useless on georgian bay. To a point...leaves much to be desired lol.
  18. so there you go, which one is better? I am convinced the fisheries guys have no clue at all. I am personally of the opinion that keeping big fish is the wrong way about things. The most important fish are the fish that are spawning...if they continue to spawn and are protected, there should be a concern about the fact that some of smaller ones are being taken. They represent the biggest portion of fish at that point. Pickerel live a long time and it doesnt take long for them to start going over slot...once they are there why stop them from growing to their full potential?
  19. i think I have figured it out and im a bit upset now finally understanding the full details after buying my unit. but its only a minor inconvenience that I am basically going to have to swap cards if I make the decision that I dont just want to use Uni map cartography to navigate. (on georgian bay I am guessing this will be the case) Here is the summary of what I was finally able to decipher after weeks of reading and knowing almost every single feature of the Helix units by model number. I could pretty much sell these things at this point. The Helix 5 and 7 series both only have one SD card port. The Helix 9 10 and 12 have 2 micro sd slots all helix units have autochart live capability, however only the 9 10 and 12+ models have 8 hours of internal Autochart data recording capability. The 5 and 7 series both require you to utilize the autochart Z line card in order for you to be able to record and create autocharts utilizing autochart live. Each autochart Z line card has 16 gigs of record able space, according to humminbird that is enough for a life time of recording. If you own the 9 or higher series helix, you can utilize the dual SD slots to have the cartography maps of your choice plus have the autochart z line card record utilizing opacity, right over your existing cartography maps. I.e. run navionics while the program creates its own cartography over the existing navionics maps. Heres where I am a little upset...I didnt realize the you need to use humminbird Z line in order to record your data. With only 1 SD card slot I am stuck either swapping from card to card to navigate...or simply continuing to utilize my phone for the time being until i can create enough of a chart for the area and have the hazards marked on my autochart z line map. Looks like its gonna be a summer of zig zag driving for me!
  20. god i wish they would friggin introduce the kawarthas slot into georgian bay. Its that kind of inconstancy that makes me question what the hell the fisheries guys are doing. How can you literally have two totally different sets of logic for the exact same species in place within 200km of each other... I personally dont see how allowing people to harvest the biggest fish is good for any fishery. You are literally destroying the gene pool. I shudder at the thought of people throwing 2 lb 16 inch pickerels back while keeping a 9lber. Bloody ridiculous.
  21. the ruling is also not my concern, the rule is the problem. Why are we even reviewing and stopping hockey games for such trivial crap. Takes away from the game entirely. I honestly think the best solution is that if you challenge and lose, your team automatically gets a 2 minute delay of game penalty and goes on the penalty kill. You would literally never see a challenge again unless it was very blatant...and at that point I think we are all ok with it.
  22. holllyyyy crepe now i finally have some perspective....where I have stood to fish is literally in the lake...wow.
  23. Anyone using these chips on their humminbird products. Seems like its based off of lakemaster north america charts. Does anyone have any experience using these for navigation, and more specifically on Georgian Bay. Unfortunately lake master does not have a nice web app like navionics, but it looks like if I want to utilize autochart live I am stuck going with humminbird z line. let me know your experiences with coverage and accuracy of charts. Thanks guys,
  24. frig gulp alive and their containers...i literally just wrap the hell outta mine in like 3 plastic bags and just deal with it leaking everywhere. I try to store them upright but they are brutal. You can buy some special scented bait tubs at bass pro..but whatever i just deal with it. Capt, the juice leaks everywhere.
