  1. Prayers sent for Peanut's speedy recovery
  2. Very cool Edwin…Glad you liked the pics I often get asked repeatedly by people why I fish…More often than not, I ask why they golf and there usually is a mutual understanding. First and foremost, I fish to catch fish. Sure I enjoy the scenery and the sound of water, but I certainly could enjoy all that a couple mins away from home in the small ravine by my house and without a fishing rod in hand. To me fishing is another form of science that allows for the opportunity to study, observe and interact with things of another world. Similarly, fishing is an outlet for other sciences as well: Physics, chemistry, biology, political science, computer science, and more…I’ve used them all to become a better angler. I also enjoy the opportunity to enjoy the art in fishing. Through rod building, fly tying, photography. I tell most people that I do 70% of my fishing at home before I leave the house, 10% of the fishing on the water and the other 20% of the time I’m catching fish. Being able to look at a flow chart, topographic map, weather report, regulation booklet, stocking records, soil composition report, piece it all together and know exactly where in that river fish will be holding, at this time of year, on this day, at this time of day, and predict it all, is something I’m always striving to do.
  3. Incredible pictures guys Lew, you should blow that picture up and hang it up on the wall...Just amazing
  4. I chummed every lake O river this morning with my secret amino acid and pheromone enriched roe...I’ve programmed the fish not to hit anything else
  5. Steelhead for me until I can walk on water for lakers.
  6. Nice vid Shawn...That Buffalo that Mark caught was awesome...Great to see they're in there. Mike, it’s totally different in Hamilton compared to the St. Lawrence. Hamilton is very developed with miles upon miles of easily accessible public shoreline to fish (which nobody other than carp anglers really uses) – This summer I was on my rollerblades helping to weigh and take pics of fish during one tourney.LOL Can’t say the same for your neck of the woods when in spring time, it’s often a 2-3am race to rocky and treacherous swims to beat the other carp anglers.
  7. Nanofil is better than Fireline, but inferior to electro-shocking the fish you want to take a picture with.
  8. Putting a mustache on the fish would truly make this thread, fish-porn!
  9. I was in there from 9-10:15pm chatting with myself on the pros and cons of using Berkley Nanofil.LOL
  10. Sweet fish Brady With the nanofil, are you running an additional shot line below? Wouldn't mind trying it out next season.
  11. Too funny! I was actually thinking the same thing Sweet fish guys
  12. Very sweet fish Good point about still fishing. There's a number of spots on that river I'd love to go back and try where I blanked with the float and lures.
  13. Sorry to hear Mike. Condolences to you and your family...Thanks for sharing some great pics with us
  14. Zippy is an elitist But he is also partial to Kingpins In my case, looking at all the different rivers I fish (and would like to fish in the future), there isn't just 1 rod + reel combo that I'd like for everything...That in itself gives me an excuse to buy more tackle
  15. Sweet chromers guys Definitely itching to get back there in the future When I was at Chris's place a month ago, the smoked steelhead he fed us was AMAZING
  16. I prefer Z-axis Nice fish
  17. Need to find a bead that perfectly matches chummed Atlantic salmon roe Very sweet pieces of chrome Mike
  18. You could always just tell them you're just going over for the fishing... I remember the first time crossing over the border with 80lbs of corn, 50lbs worth of hemp seeds, 40lbs of boilies and a whole bunch of other things for a carp tourney...Never had a problem crossing any border yet (knock on wood)...Only once did the border guard pop the trunk open and look into a couple of our bags...Good thing they didn't find my 'Kreature' baits Like Bill said, it's probably best if you get something from your HR department.
  19. Just looking for something in the 13’ range that I can build around my 4.5” offset reel. Would like something that handles 4lb leaders OK but with backbone in reserve to pull big fish away from logjams. I originally built my current ‘Frankenstein’ rod for the 4” reel and it’s a bit tip heavy with the bigger reel...After fishing around 15.5hrs straight yesterday (took a couple bathroom breaks), it definitely made me want a better balanced setup
  20. Brian, you’ll be glad to know that I already Christened it with a trophy creek chub on your home waters and encrusted it with roe juice to enhance its mojo...All Spiel's rods must first be Mikey Approved before they are shipped off to demanding anglers looking for the finest tackle I'm also looking into both the 2pc and 3pc Rainshadows for myself
  21. Very nice fish. Paul definitely is doing great out there. The record has been shattered a many times (unofficially of course). You'll be hard pressed to find dedicated carpers willing to kill a fish for the records. A friend of mine landed a 56lber on the St. Lawrence which won him a weeks stay at a motel that caters to carpers.
  22. Nicely done
  23. Very sweet Paulus Great report and pics...Thanks for sharing
  24. I've worn my lucky hat since the 12th grade... Other than that, I go to the bathroom before I leave the house
  25. I can't say I've ever used a Nikon DSLR that didn't give me excellent results...It boggles my mind trying to understand why every Nikon P&S I've ever used or owned just didn't perform well - compared to other P&S even for less money - when it came to image quality When it comes to P&S cameras, Canon and Panasonic have performed very well for me over the years.
