Balsam Lake is a good lake and campground but book early. If you plan on taking out a canoe, keep an eye on the weather. The lake can get pretty rough in a hurry. Been tossed around many times in that lake in a 14 foot fishing boat over the 50 years I've been going there. If the water gets rough you can hit the Gull river and canoe up fishing for good bass action or if you go around May 24, the walleye most years are fantastic.

Wow nice season of fish. Some pretty nice catches.

Nice, I am still looking to catch my 1st muskie.

The trout run in the spring and the Salmon run in the fall up Etobicoke creek. A friend of mine caught a 40 Pounder just past the pier on the Etobicoke side. They run up the creek but they couldn't get up the broken dam because the water was too shallow. I seen a guy catch them and release them up above the dam. There is no dam there. I think a lot of people complained about the fish not being able to get past the dam. They had taken the wood out so now the fish can happily swim up the river. I don't know if it is illegal to fish there or not or if they are still running around the mouth up to the dam or not. If I get a chance tomorrow or Tuesday, I'll go check. I live right beside the river just off Lakeshore Rd. Health issue keep me indoors most Mondays.

I use to go down to Erindale Park over 10 years ago and that was happening there. A lot of people complained and the MRN would show up regularly to nab people. I don't know if they still go there or not. I remember BASS would go down and pick up the dead fish and the garbage lining the shoreline.

Fantastic pictures. I didn't get up north or even fish this year to see what kind of pics I could get.

We had this type of thing happen when we opened trout season in Owen Sound about 15 or so years ago. The guy wasn't driving that fast and was in a smaller boat, but, he was trying to cut peoples lines.

Very nice. Glad he was able to go back and catch it

Me and my buddy clean up the places we fish. It is disgusting to see all the garbage that people leave. This year as extra bad. With the covid-19, there was everything from food and drink remains to human crap. They took the garbage can and toilet away. Even the dog crap wasn't picked up. This is right in the middle of a small town.

https://kawarthanow.com/2020/05/13/public-boat-launches-in-kawartha-lakes-to-reopen-beginning-may-14/ The municipality of Kawartha Lakes will begin opening public boat launches on Thursday, May 14th, just in time for the Victoria Day long weekend. Members of the public will be allowed to launch their boats, in groups of less than five people who maintain a physical distance of at least six feet from each other. “Kawartha Lakes continues to take all necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of residents and staff,” states the municipality in a media release. “Boat launches will continue to be monitored closely and the closures could be reinstated if the municipality sees any increased signs of risk.”

Thanks, Sorry for your losses. 1st Mother's day without her would be tough.

This will be the 1st time in 30+ years I won't be opening walleye season in my favorite spot. I don't know if public docs and piers will be open, but that is not the reason. My dad passed away 2 weeks ago from a ruptured abdominal aneurysm. Taking care of my mom well being is more important to me. To all those that are going fishing good luck and catch one for my dad.

I read an article like this a couple of years ago when peoples dogs were being attacked in Port Credit. There are a lot of them in the golf course behind my condo at Lakeshore and Dixie. I see and hear them all the time. There are enough of them there that they took down a deer in the Etobicoke Creek a few years ago.

Nice read. Every time I read you part about should I stay or should I go now brings up the song in my head from The Clash lol. -
That was one scary read and I am glad that you all made it home safe and sound my friend. I will never go ice fishing ever since I have been confined to a wheelchair. Ice can be really thick but if there is an air pocket, you never know what could happen.

Hope not. I may have to take up drinking again. I'd have to buy cases of impeachment snaps in case it is a big seller.

Glad it worked. I just built a rig over the weekend. Sadly I think I damaged my old hard drive with all my saved data on it including all my fish pics. Going to see if I can get it working or see if I can get a data recovery program and see if I can get as much saved files as possible.

Welcome back and hi. I don't think I was on here when you were last here.

That's the one I thought it was. I always like the looks of that park. It has gotten a lot bigger over the years with more trailers. Have a good Christmas Ron

Glad I don't have to worry about forgetting to renew. I use my disabled parking permit as my fishing licence.

great video, I haven't been ice fishing since I was a kid. Even then the only thing I caught was herring and a cold lol. Do the pike and walleye fight different when Ice fishing compared to summer fishing?
