Would be about 20 years ago when I saw a musky around 30" cruising around the Port Credit harbour....gotta be some giants out there for sure.
-
Great read, Garry...I think I'm more like you in the sense of not putting so much value on saving a few ounces and losing sturdy materials. I have been wowed by a few lightweight combos, but usually, my wallet is even lighter, so I don't pine away for too long.

Question about Native status and fishing in my boat

Dude....does this mean you're going fishing?!?!?! -
Toronto Sportsmen's show is moving again
johnnyb replied to kickingfrog's topic in General Discussion
It's time we put the petal to the metal! Interesting move, putting the show up to February....I haven't gone in a few years now...don't really miss it. We'll still have ice in Feb....so unless I'm stuck at home, I'll happily take fishing over shopping. -
Ummmm....your photo's are getting REALLY good! Great report as always, I feel a bit more relaxed just having read it.

Dusey Lake Outpost ~ Journey To A Brook Trout Zoo

Truth be told, she would absolutely love it. If there's no shower, she just washes her hair in lake water. It's really quite fun, being the rinse boy, when the lake is 55F -
Dusey Lake Outpost ~ Journey To A Brook Trout Zoo

WWWWOOOOWWWW. This one was amazing! I mean, they always are, but, wow! This one grabs you by the shoulders and shakes you around a bit Great work on putting the trip and report together....I'm super impressed. Also....shower. That means the wife will be quite happy to come. Dilemma....do I tell her about the shower or not.... -
I definitely plan to troll it for lakers....and look forward to some deep, open water smallies that like to herd bait balls
-
I honestly think that a lot of those guys save'em and put them on their windshield to prevent further tickets....I say that because there is a guy who lives in my building and has a delivery van....never takes the tickets off the window.

Fantastic pics MJL....great start to your season for sure!

Great report -- you need to post more often! You said it was an 8 out of 10....what would have made it a 10?
-
Just a heads up....hook and bullet is completely useless for species lists. Go back and look up the same lake a few different times. You'll get different species. When you see sturgeon and salmon in small landlocked lakes, you get the idea.
-
Pretty sure these are 8's....I will make a few tweaks next time and see what happens. Thanks for the input, guys.
-
Nice to see everyone agreeing with me on colour....sounds like I need to tweak this thing though. I KNOW I should be flingin the Handlebarz bling...this was super cheap so I grabbed it. Sigh. I know.

Blades def'ly aren't hitting the skirt or hooks....this is a straight-shaft as well.....the clevises intertwine. Here's a pic of the exact bait:

I know we have a bunch of great musky anglers on the board, so I figure you can answer this pretty quickly for me: When throwing double-bladed spinners, should I be expecting more resistance than a single blade? I predominantly throw singles, like big buchertail straight-shaft spinners, but last year I saw a double bladed model on ebay that caught my eye, and was cheap, so I picked it up. Finally got around to throwing it on the weekend, and was surprised at how fast I had to crank just to keep the blades spinning. Also noticed that they would skip really easily. I'm used to the big blades on my singles giving me lots of resistance and really throbbing....so do I have a crappy bait, or do you really have to burn these suckers in? P.S> just thought I would add that I used a combo I picked up from OFC'er Dave A -- a 6'10 St.Croix with an Abu 6000 on it.....blew me away! Was not expecting the reel to be soooo smooth, and handled the heavy cranking with ease If you see this guy clearing out tackle, jump on it -- he prices his stuff right and takes really good care of it...felt like I was fishing brand new equipment. Thanks Dave!!!!

25 hours in the boat -- AWESOME!! Just a little under 2hrs per inch for that pb Way to go on the great fishing...looks like a fun bunch of guys to hang with. Keep the reports coming
-
Here's the reel -- looks pretty cool, but I stand by my original answer, Ricardo Maybe a nice trolling reel to keep in the boat for posterity

Depends on a combination of wifey's work schedule and babysitter availability. Somewhere like 3 Mile in Muskoka or Gull in Minden, with possible back-up plans on Rice or Orangeville Reservoir. Well...Orangeville is more like an emergency measure than a backup plan....but I'll take what I can get

Awesome, awesome awesome! Love that black one....never seen anything like it. Great read as usual....I love soaking up the appreciation for this sport that you so deftly put into words
-
Oh my goodness!!! Very nice action there, Simon....that is an absolute TANK that Cliff got! Love the shot of double walleye....and nice ling too! You sure know how to pay a guy back...well done
-
Great looking stuff, Brian...if they're striking short, change up the fly. I'm always amazed at how hard they hit when you have the right fly on, even though they'll peck away at the wrong one, making you think it's what they want.

crazy thunder storms and flyfishing for crappie.
johnnyb replied to limeyangler's topic in General Discussion
Are you sure you have a stringer? Nice walleye mixed in.....and sauger too....love that you get into these crazy multi-species runs -
Really amazing spots you can find up there....always a good day on the Upper Credit...thanks for sharing
