  2. Great stuff Rich.....still lookin' for a Kawartha report infested with greasy sammies and ice-cream though
  3. Fantastic report....can't say much more than what has already been said. Thanks so much for taking the time to put it together and share that amazing experience with us
  4. Oh, my pets don't think so at all.....they feel it's totally natural

  6. A live mouse would undoubtedly catch fish. So would a bird. Anything floundering around in the water and on top of weeds is an easy meal, and I really don't think any fish is going to analyze what it is. They see an opportunity and they sieze it. Ultimately, is a live mouse that practical to fish with? Not really.....with so many great artificial options on the market, why bother?
  7. Beautiful beast....hope you can track it down in the Fall
  8. A great shallow running crank that has caught me a lot of pike is the Cotton Cordell Ripplin' Redfin. Pretty sure they still make them....I have had the most success by reeling it in very slowly, which gives it a great wobble just under the surface. Pretty much like a wake bait. Garry2r's tips are also excellent....keeping the line tight on landing is key for not only preventing a spinnerbait from sinking, but for preventing a jerkbait from tangling when it lands. Spinnerbaits will catch a ton of pike, and any bass cruising the area as well. One thing I do is take the wire from a garbage bag twist-tie and wrap it around the skirt of the bait a few times, then twist it tight and clip off the tag ends. This simple trick keeps the skirts on much longer, as pike are excellent at removing them. (Hmmm....possibly why they're such successful breeders..... )
  9. Man those are some impressive brookies....well done! One day I'll be up there....and definitely make a stop at the Terry Fox monument as well
  10. Yes, if I were going to do the transom mount, I'd be cruising around in reverse for sure. Still like the thought of a bowmount. And of course I should buy my own boat....but it ain't in the cards yet. YET. Thanks for the input guys
  11. I can get my hands on a transom mount for real cheap, BNIB never used by a friend. But if a bowmount isn't a lot of hassle, I'd much rather look at that. One tinny is mine to do as a I please with....but it's not the one I fish out of the most
  12. Very nice work so far, Larry....keep it up!
  13. Okay, so I'm at the point where I can no longer go fishing without realizing how much easier my life would be if I had a trolling motor. I'm talking about those times when I'm fishing structure and shoreline.....actual trolling is not an issue, because I'm just running tin boats with 9.9's. Here's my issue -- I have use of 2 different boats....a small 12' and a deep hull 14'. Ideally, the 14 footer is the one that could be modified to take a bowmount tinner, but it's really a communal boat, shared among a few cottages, even though everyone refers to it as "John's boat" because I use it the most. A platform would probably be fine, but a trolling motor might have to be a removable item. As for the smaller boat, I don't know that a platform and bowmount would even be practical. So general ideas and advice are welcome on what you think I should do. Is a transom mount worth considering? Certainly would be portable enough, and when cruising along, I'd just have the big motor up....but is it realistic to think that it will work as well as I want it to? I'm just getting really tired of poling through weeds....blowing around...not being able to methodically work an area if there's a breeze hitting it.
  14. Wow...you'd think the rod storage would accomodate....but either way....you need some baitcasters man
  15. Great weekend.....love Turkey Point!!! Some nice bass down by the harbour where the restaurants are at the end of the beach....
  16. Sounds like a great weekend....looking forward to the pics.
  17. This thread is great .... definitely inspiring me to try for more action shots....have a nice jumping muskie somewhere....but I think it's on actual film.
  18. Very cool video! Looks like some awesome bass territory too...wow.
  19. Very nicely done....funny how we will hang around a spot for another hour or so just to get that last fish.....
  20. I've done it for brookies, and lakers.....not sure I would try it for a rainbow, but, why not: Slash the sides every couple inches...pack the slashes with motnreal steak spice. That's all. Just grill it up. I also dress fillets with the same seasoning, then drizzle maple syrup over the whole works....grill it with the skin on. MMMMMMmmmmmm. Great if you like sweet'n'savoury
  21. Solid fish all day long there.....well done!
  22. That's one crazy dock! NIce work
