  1. I found the ones that BassPro makes to be pretty good...nice wide gap hook on them, and the leadhead is made for going in the tube. Not sure though, if they go over 1oz...think the ones I have are 3/4....
  2. Love the self shot with the 40"er....and congrats on upsizing to the 41....great report!
  3. Yup...if you haven't eaten bread yet, try that. Also...the sensation of having the bone in there will be around long after it's gone....going to the ER won't be pleasant if it's really down there.
  4. Great report RLW....too bad the catching wasn't better, but, it sounds like it could have been worse. THe info is greatly appreciated
  5. Best way to figure out the Credit is on foot. Especially this time of year when you can stay cool by wading in an old pair of running shoes and your shorts. Orangeville's Island lake can be good....better with a boat IMO...which you can rent while you're there
  6. I'm surprised the 3-way setup didn't work....if you are POSITIVE that you were running at 40-50 feet....you should have been in the zone. I would try it again, with a couple different lures. Grab a Williams Dartee....my go to colours have been the silver ones with red/blue prism tape on them....2.5-3.5 inches long. I find that a lot of flash really helps bring the lakers in...they see it from a long way off and they like to chase. Consider using a gangtroll with a spoon, swimbait or spin'n'glo at the back. Also, try doubling the weight on the 3 way swivel and drag the whole presentation along bottom.
  7. Was just gonna suggest Jacobs....Brian beat me to it.
  8. I just thought it funny that the title of the post included the words "crotch" and "virgin". You should only lose your Crotch virginity if you feel ready.
  9. Simply fantastic as usual....still kills me though that you can catch walleye more easily than bass up there
  10. Having never been to McCrae lake, I can tell you it has nothing to offer Seriously though, based on what I've heard, and compared to what I've experienced in Temagami....it's a no brainer.
  11. That's awesome! Go live the life....and take some pics for our vicarious enjoyment
  12. Kind of like basting a turkey Will definitely cool you down, but make sure you keep the sunscreen going.
  13. Awesome fish....nice and dark Good job on the firefighting
  14. Pics look good and vertical now....great report! Nice old Mitchell reel on the green Silstar
  15. Gorgeous boat....great price...but yes, you really have to make sure you have all your ducks in a row. Proof that there is no lien on it...know what to expect at the border, etc.
  16. In the information the MNR released to the newspaper, they included the fact that there was a copy of the regs on the dash of the truck, and Mr. McWilliams opened it right up to the page where Havelock Lake is listed as having the slot size. So he "forgot" his license...honest mistake. But "forgetting" what the regs say....when there's a copy of them in the truck? Sorry...he was either too lazy to check the regs, and deserves the fine, or he is an outright liar, and deserves a bigger fine.
  17. You said....PLUTON That's a reel I want to try
  18. Awesome that you are getting up there, Terry....have fun!
  19. Then it should fit the bill nicely....not too far off the highway either. Oh...I recall the launch ramp being kind of steep....but lots of great scenery and fishing. Good luck...let us know how you do!
  20. Well that old guy sure knows where not to fish...sounds like he hits the same spots every time, and likes to complain Great job on the fish....too bad about the water levels....WOW
  21. Awesome to see the Minden boys bustin' chumps. Really burns me up to see people keeping the slotters that I release. A cottager across the bay last summer says "yeah, we just had a big fry...cooked up 18 of'em....been savin'em." Not even bothering with possession limits, I ask him if he is aware of the slot limit. "Oh, yeah, I heard about that, but, we don't catch that many, so we just keep whatever we get." HE proceeded to describe his boat to me, so I could say hi when I'm on the water. I proceeded to text that info to the Minden CO
  22. WHOA! Nicely done
  23. You have the right attitude Thanks for the laugh
  24. I didn't notice the price of suffix...what's it on for? $14 I'm guessing? I DID pick up a 4-pack of 10' ratchet straps though...only $10, marked down from $33. Perfect timing as mine are getting skeered. I mean....frayed.
  25. Craziness! Way to roll the dice and come out ahead...some very nice fish
