  1. I've parked there to use it as a launch point for a canoe trip. Nice people, relatively clean camp...pretty basic accomodations, but didn't look bad at all. Easy access to some decent fishing....just look for rapids, weedbeds and islands...many of which you can find between Dry Pine Bay and the bottom of Five Mile Rapids
  2. Was a great day out...thanks for posting the report 'cuz Only 17 days till Long Weekend shenanigans....possibly a repeat performance?
  3. Now that's a great way to make an entrance Welcome aboard....2 great reports...looking forward to more
  4. Oh man...that STINKS! Insured?
  5. Very nice....I fish river smallies with a 7-8 weight and even the little guys give a great account of themselves....would be a real battle on the 4w for sure!
  6. Hey -- my lady says it's not the size of my dingy that matters....it's how I use it...and she always has a good time
  7. 4+ or 5...doesn't matter...that's a gorgeous bass! Well done man!!!
  8. Way to go! You are really getting the hang of this vacationing dealy
  9. Great stuff, ccmt....can't beat quality time like that. You have a seriousl little fishergirl on your hands there!
  10. Ha! I never noticed the pinned message...thought the site was down for a record period of time Tried coming in thru Google yesterday...that was a no-go. My "favourites" link worked today though....and I haven't updated it.
  11. Congrats on the wedding....hope you enjoy the marriage for a long time to come Never been to that particular resort....let us know how it goes
  12. Beautiful fish. And uhh....the first one's a largie (I'm sure you knew that) I fish close to Minden, and have had the fish destroy surface lures one year, and ignore them the next...even though I still see them hitting bait hard at the surface. I think they get really picky about what they're feeding on. The challenge this year is going to be chasing them around on the main lake on calm days. Caught a nice one last year on a surface bait over 120FOW...and had a few beasts following jerkbaits in...just gotta hone that technique a bit
  13. So how did you do? Only reading this now....my go-to tactic would have been weedless surface baits in the thick stuff....curious to hear how you made out
  14. If it's a Sto'n'Go Grand Caravan, and you want the hitch to be completely hidden, "like factory" it is not a cheap endeavor. But bolting one on that hangs below the bumper is just as effective and less than half the cost. Sounds like you already solved it anyway
  15. The down easter's are really great....and you won't end up getting a quality rod holder with base for less than $40 anyway. I use a Canon very similar to the Scotty baitcaster/spinning rod holder...except my Canon has the plastic cuff that the SCotty "powerlock" model has. I originally just bolted mine onto a piece of wood, and clamped that to the boat with a c-clamp....but this year I ordered the Scotty 449 clamping base....totally worth it. Way more secure, and goes on with far less hassle. I paid $20 for the holder last year at LeBaron, and $25 for the clamp-on base this year. Had the guy at Shortwave, who is a Scotty dealer, order the base for me.
  16. Awesome stuff....as usual
  17. Awesome stuff...and yeah, I can see how the bass are less appealing now :D
  18. Gorgeous fish! Gotta love being out on the lake on these calm, hot days...makes it hard to come back to shore
  19. I'm barely into part 2, and I've got to go...work related...rats! So far....just epic...can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate the work you put into these posts!
  20. I've been running 30lb on an MH baitcaster and a M spinning outfit....same spool of suffix on both. Not a ton of bleeding....zero breaks....and I have to say...I no tip-wrapping issues to speak of. Having been a long time PP user...I don't see many significant advantages in this stuff....but perhaps it floats a bit better, which I love when fishing the wacky worm.
  21. Ahhh man, you're livin' the good life! Keep the pics comin'
  22. Yes, I've been using Premium....but wasn't aware that it could still have ethanol. *edit* Did a quick google search on the subject...and it seems like and unsettled issue as to whether you can get ethanol-free gas. Many posts I read claiming that you CAN, were pre-2011, and it's my understanding that as of Dec 2010, the gov't mandated a minimum 5% ethanol in all fuel. That being said, here's a link to "pure fuel.org"...a list of supposedly ethanol free gas in Ontario....still not sure how accurate or up to date it may be. CLICK HERE Pretty sure some phase guard 4, or other ethanol neutralizing additive is the simple way to be sure you're avoiding the nasty effects of ethanol
  23. Very impressive man....well done!
  24. So far, July has been a great month for fishing! I've been out 3 times in 4 days, on 4 different bodies of water! I'm pretty sure Bicephalic is going to post a report containing the bulk of that...so this is just a quick report on some awesome Lake O action last night. Bicephalic, our pal Frenchie and myself took advantage of a clear schedule and light winds, meeting up for 6pm at the Bronte launch. None of us had ever done this by ourselves....that is...we've always had someone a tad more experienced in the boat. Thank goodness for the reports online and the help of a good friend who's out there daily and texted us a few pointers. We rigged up a few dipsy rods...hemmed and hawed about clamping on my portable downrigger, but decided to leave it behind...and got Frenchie's beautiful boat in the water. We headed out to just shy of 200FOW and dropped our lines with an assortment of spoons on. First fish on was on my rod I was running a watermelon coloured spoon and it was rapidly heading in the other direction!!!! Unfortunately....this was all I ended up reeling in. Only good news here is that I didn't lose the dipsy, and I took small comfort in knowing it wasn't my knot that failed. GRRRRR. As it turned out....that really wasn't the FIRST fish of the night though...about 20 minutes into our troll, we noticed Bicephalic's rod bouncing around. It was so subtle though....and his rodholder was the only one mounted to the transom, so we convinced ourselves it was a motor-induced shimmy. Once he reeled in to switch spoons though.....TADA!!!! A quick check in the sportfish ID guide confirmed, much to his disappointment, that it WASN'T an Atlantic Now don't let the size fool you....this fish was VERY significant! As a general rule....when we're together, Bicephalic catches the first fish....and I get the bigger fish To sweeten the deal, I had a spoon on that I "borrowed" from his box...you know what happened next..... And this time he didn't get away... Great night on the water....going to be hard not to buy up a bunch of spoons now....and maybe a boat.... Lookin forward to the next time
