Nicely done, Jay! As usual, your patience has paid off....what's the pattern so far? Are they relating to structure at a certain depth, or are you looking for baitballs, or...?

I can only comment on putting the rod tip in the water....this helps immensely if you want to prevent them from jumping. If the fish is already aiborne...I don't know how much good it does, but I don't think it has ever resulted in me losing a fish.

Maybe it was just tons. Not tonnes. Muskiemaniac....it's hard to argue with success...I'd have a hard time not going back to Buckhorn based on your first trip there. But lots of other lakes....I've found the SCugog muskie to be co-operative...not always huge. I've never fished Balsam...but I think it's next on my list.

You can make a mounting bracket for it to hang off the side....but how much faster will you really go than by paddling?

Call the Bracebridge MNR office....if you ask to speak to one of the biologists, you can often get some good info. A bit hit and miss, as they don't know every lake by heart...but worth a call. I'd expect bass for sure in that area.

Yep...you will be getting choked up with weeds pretty good....not too bad if you can drift along a weedline and use a paddle....but that's a big boat to paddle, and I think you'd end up buried in the weeds with them wrapped around the prop and lots of frustration. I marked a ton of stuff down at 20' trolling through Hammell's bay....but I think I should have been drifting, as I couldn't get bottom bouncers down too far....little 8hp just won't idle slow. I've heard good things about smallmouth on Skeleton....but I've also heard people striking out big time. I don't know much about Mary...but the pike and bass on Vernon are supposed to be pretty good. As for Young...used to be a nice quiet spot for skinnydipping....but it's a bit busier now....best if you keep the swimtrunks on. Tough to get anything more than 8-10inch smallies from shore there. Your boat will get down the hill no problem...but might not float once it gets to the water...and certainly won't be coming back up the hill

You've got very small and very large lakes listed there....what kind of boat do you have? Pretty sure you have a place on 3 Mile, from your posts earlier in the season....largies were super aggressive in the shallow weeds last weekend.... Rosseau can be great for lakers if you can get down to 40-50 feet....also great smallie fishing on typical stucture....rocky points, steep drops, etc

Good point on the burping....lakers seem to handle the depth change quite well....I've noticed they are no fan of warm water....had a good sized one years back in the canoe and we drifted into shore by the time it got landed. Had to paddle out to the deeper water and he perked right up and kicked away strong. The slot limit in Minden has me releasing lots of lakers and they all swim straight down with no issues
