Real idiots on a jet ski....hopefully landed hard enough to never reproduce. The driver may have actually landed that if passenger wasn't hanging onto his neck. Hope they took insurance on the rental.

Musky and the Conservation License
Zamboni replied to lookinforwalleye's topic in General Discussion
Heard same from 2 guys at Cesarea launch, mnr told them same lookinforwalleye was told-their not allowed to fish for muskie with con license. The regulations are clear-how can guys in field not know its legal? A few times a summer I'll have guys with me who only bought conservation license-guess I need to carry regs. -
Time is off the essence-read posts on submerged motors on iboats site and start immediately-little rust will kill bearings/crank etc. follow steps on there-owners manual should have instructions for dealing with submerged motor also. The engine can be saved, few were last year from tornado's that ripped thru Haliburton-starting immediately is important. had quick look-good info in this link: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=...light=submerged

Its hard to tell from pic but that trailer does look short for boat-transom might not be adequately supported. Is the bow stop post moved as far forward as possible on the trailer? Before upgrading I would find out if your trailer can be 'fitted' to the boat, post moved forward a bit and longer bunks put on. Was the trailer actually fitted to the boat when you upgraded? Any trailer shop can set this up with beefier rear bunk support to stiffen/support the longer bunks. Steep ramps are usually fine for bunk trailers, its shallow ramps where having a roller trailer sometimes helps when retreiving. I'm thinking if post can move up 4-6 inches and you add longer bunks the trailer will work fine. Maybe consider a self centering keel roller to get bow on track when retreiving. Go to trailer shop if your not DIY type and see if it can be fit better.

A good way to fine tune the alignment is to slightly flex the dish without loosening the bolts/nuts when pointing a dish for max signal. Do this on the weakest transponder with someone watching the signal meter-you'll be able to figure out how to 'tweak' it for best reception....then loosen nuts and barely move it. Gets complicated with oval dish receiving signals from 2 sats-this method allows you to see if any gains are possible-just get behind dish and very little force is needed to move signal meter. Often upping signal on 110 loses signal strength on 119 with dishnetwork so its trade off-see what effect re-alignment will have on a few transponders before committing.

NAPA stores carry Seafoam-its a listed item they can bring in for you if local store manager is not stocking it. Great stuff for cleaning carbon out of 2 stroke engines-nothing better for a decarb. I have no experience putting it in the lube oil as suggested here-would you do an oil change right after the 'flushing process' that way?

Wife wanted with fishing boat-please reply with picture of boat.

Sent you a pm GODDY with links-I'm next door in Whitby and there are a lot of choices close by. You can be on Scugog at launch in town or Cesarea in 1/2 hour-better choice most years for weeknight get away. Were close to Kawartha's-bottom of Clear lake launch puts you on Stony also-just past Young's point lock. Pigeon-Buckhorn etc are all an hour and half pulling a trailer-lots of options.

Looks like my boating season is over with..
Zamboni replied to Gerritt's topic in General Discussion
Post some pics Gerritt-lots of us here have done complete renos on boats. I rebuilt wear rings on aluminum pumps of merc sportjets with 2 part epoxy you mentioned fishnfiend-great stuff for some aps. Not sure it would be right choice to repair the skin on a tinny tho-maybe to smooth out an overlapping patch tho. If cracks far enough forward a patch rivetted on, gluvit on seams and then epoxy as body filler would be good-with a keel guard on top. -
Buy DVA meter with tach instead of dash mounted tach. You can check revs if its in question, DVA is good for merc ignition, electrical probs. Be able to check stator output, check triggers, switchbox-handy to have.

LOL-sin van???....its all window! Looks good Loonietoon-set up for camping?

Thanks guys-I'll scout both out next visit....can't launch at Water St alone without a dock. They should sink 2 poles beside the existing 4' of cement jutting into lake there so we could tie up while moving tow vehicles.

Friend sold his place on Lake Katchewanooka, now I'm lokking for spot to leave truck/trailer when we day trip there. I launch in front of Marina down below the beer store, marina closed yesterday so not sure if a guy caan park there-not much room and didn't see tow vehicles on grounds yesteday. Only truck/trailer I saw was on shoreline to left of launch-occupying the one spot. Where do you guys park-beer store or is there a lot down shoreline I didn't see? May be moot as we planned a 3 day weekend end of July and now owner emailed me that someone wants to rent for week so I must match price so he doesn't "loose money"-Nice! Anyone with trailer/cottage vacant July 27-29 pm me.

I don't think there is a good chart with depth marked-all I've sen is a fishing map with general outline of shoreline/islands and suposedly where the fish are. PM me an email addy if you want that sent over-its not much help for navigation.

Columnaris Bacteria Found in Scugog Carp
Zamboni replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
http://www.thepeterboroughexaminer.com/web...name=Local+News Its keeping us home, usually get on the Bog one weeknight evening. -
Waterfront Trail map gives you a good idea on parking and access points Memart if you want try Lake O shoreline: http://www.waterfronttrail.org/maps/wt-3_08.pdf That's Wilmot Creek, Whitby-Oshawa are on other pages....I've seen guys fishing the pier at Oshawa harbour, especially in the fall.
-
My wife heard same about Scugog from co-worker that lives in Port Perry-I dismissed it as nothing on here and in news. Sorry about that recomendation Memart, maybe renting a boat at Rice would be best local fishing in Lake O isn't apealling-not sure if there's shore fishing spots on Rice. Thats really bad news on the Bog, we used to fish there often and kids often swam at Goerski's or sand bar across from Cesarea launch. When will MNR tell us what's going on-with carp die-off in Sturgeon also and now other species affected in Scugog its troublesome.

Lets not get too sensitive here guys-Stoty's post is far from offensive. Mine pointing out to Stoty that Ottawa river is border etc could be taken wrong way also. I sometimes visit GTHL hockey forums on N54 to see whats going on with sons opponents. Posts there are as bad as the net can get-people slaming 10 year old kids, coaches, teamates-each others wifes!....nothing is off limits. This site is great with so few arguments.
-
You can fish Lake O tribs in fall when the salmon run starts, ccmt has few threads on shore fishing recently. Best local shore fishing I'm aware of is Scugog-maybe hwy 7A (7?) causeway just out of Port Perry on way to Cesarea but its often looks crowded. There's few charters for Salmon operating out of Port Darlington-if nobody has a recomendation here try Spoonpullers site. Little early on North side but some large kings being caught.

Reading that makes me realize how good we have it here. I have 16.5 boat that just fits in garage-we put 15-20 hours on engine fishing, tubing and just sightseeing around Kawartha lakes most summer weeks.....only cost is price of gas/oil and the occasional restaurant meal.
-
Ottawa River is the Quebec-Ont border there Stoty-their fishing the river West of Ottawa almost to Pembrooke. Not sure on shore fishing Scott but its great area for eyes, 2 friends both got PB's near Calumet from boat on same evening.
-
Ottawa is a great fishery-we get there at least once a year. I never come close to trophy reports I see posted here-maybe this summer. Good luck-check your pm's-sent something you may find helpful.
