  1. Unbelievable. ....$40!! I forwarded this to Whitby councillors-of course they won't bother but Georgina residents with stickers on windshields should be charged $40 when using our launch/parking to get on Lake O. Maybe if Georgina residents are treated in a similar fashion when using other municipalities facilities they will bring this up to their council. Love to see their mayors face if charged $40 to see his kid play hockey at another OMHA centres arena....Georgina businesses will never see another penny from me, I'll take the kids to Sibbald PP but not drop a cent.
  2. Thats good news for me-running a jet boat I often need to go in to clear weeds from intake on the bog-sure limits my fishing We'll be out on Scugog Saturday, late Sunday also....os bass were a problem that limited our walleye fishing last week, hope high water temps has moved bass spawn along and got them away from my spot for eyes. Hot enough this week to get those bass in the mood?
  3. Post how it goes Fisher, I'm heading to Simcoe in next week for Whitefish first time also. Caught some perch there last fall, haven't been on Simcoe much but plan on getting there more this summer. I have charts if you want, pm email addy to send to.
  4. There were few beavers around the railway island string last summer-my kids loved watching them. I guess its generally the case with walleye but the fishing really picked up at dusk....nothing for hours and then fishing was terrific. Late afternoon just before a storm the bite was on also....we got real wet that day. The chart I emailed should help you get your bearings-figure out whats reachable depending on your boat. We have 190hp and still found a few rides 'long' when weather hit-thats a big lake.
  5. Lots of good posts here on Rice Lake, do quick search. I pm'd you if you haven't left yet. What is deal with that sunken railway-why wasn't the railway who owned tracks forced to remove them and clear the support bed? First time on lake last summer, the structure is good for fishing but quite the hazard! Must have been a scenic train trip when it operated.
  6. Don't assume you can just take alligator clips off the existing wires and add more wire with a good butt connector. That may work, it depends what gauge wire originally comes on the Minn Kota, quite possible that extended length is not safe at that wire size and you need to replace the entire lenghth with a heavier gauge wire. Here's a quick, clean solution: from the battery back to a convenient place the existing Minn Kota wires reach run heavy gauge wire, that can end at nice posts the alligator clips can clamp onto. On battery end you can crimp regular battery lugs, makes for a clean installation
  7. That strong deet is great on bill of a ball cap, socks etc....better than normal bug spray sprayed all over. As other mentioned its melts plastic, be especially careful overspray doesn't get on your line etc. My kid needed his reel respooled after touching his caps bill then the line. I pm'd you links to charts, make sure you dl all 5 Georgian Bay, the key map in first file will help you put jig saw puzzle together.
  8. Pm'd you links to charts I scanned last year, Kawarthas-Georgian Bay and Bay of Quinte. Feel free to forward links to anyone that needs them, mods didn't want the links posted for copyright reasons.

  10. Go on iboats boat restoration forum, tons of info on foam. If you do put new foam in you need a closed cell type-how to's on install are important, foam is powerful when it expands so do read first. Personally, i'm in the no foam camp on restorations. All foam holds water, just not as easily....many boats out there are holding an extra 300-400 lbs of water in the foam.
  11. Before replacing the tank check the fittings, use water/dish soap mixture right after pressurizing. Spread your 'leak detector' fluid on valve stem etc.....you may get lucky and save a few hundred dollars. Is there an air gauge on the tank to check pressure-or a place besides the valve to put a gauge.....check that plug also. Our cottage neighbour had a brand new tank losing air very slowly out of the actual air valve-not the base/fittings. Put a plastic cap on valve and problem solved.
