How can a name get added to a property title
Zamboni replied to motv8tr's topic in General Discussion
Probably just that your entitled to right of way on the easement-and that your paying x dollars for your own property is what gives you that right. Seen similar on shared lakefront access/beach for properties on back (non waterfront) lots. -
Shell premium contains no ethanol-yet.

If you launch at Cesarea you have a lot of choices to fish the east side of the lake....you can go right towards the Scugog river-straight across to sand bar and bay just left of it or where many go, directly left, can work that shoreline and all way back to slop at causeway. Pm'd you.

Cut my foot Saturday on Rice lake, stepped on glass in water just beside beach area of golden beach resort. Kids tubing, I jumped out to hold boat while my buddy set up his little guy. Crocs laying on floor of boat, I often kick them off driving around and fishing. What kind of moron throws his beer bottle in the lake-see it in parks/playgrounds in Whitby also-what are they thinking. Going to wear sandals in boat from now on-never know. Bright note, the cheap Airhead tube at Wal Mart is terrific-squirrly ride at slow speeds (20mph) Things unstable, sits too high in water not even close to overinflated....kids loved it. No need to drive fast to dump them or have them 'catch air'....slight turn whips the tube outside the wake. Kids really enjoyed this tube (Cyclone)....the 'expert' dads didn't-got dumped too easily.

That would work Roy- I know from rope twist I generally tie around same length on Scugog and longer off shoals/islands on Simcoe. Curious if others are going to trouble to hook to that eyelet-if small boats do 'ride' wake & waves better than anchor tied over top of bow.
-
Lew's insane boaters thread has me thinking-a few times in past few years I've had cruiser wakes come over our boats bow. I tie the anchor to boat by simply wrapping rope around cleat that's about 1' in from very front of boat-cleats convenient as right in front of trap door for anchor & rope storage. This seems to hold down the bow when riding over waves/wakes-I generally put out plenty of rope to get good angle -not necessarily 7-1 but plenty so anchor doesn't drag. Our boat is one of those mid 90's 'soap dish' style jet boats-lots of freeboard. When not at anchor it handles rough weather, whitecaps well compared to other boats around its size-16.5'. Does anyone lean over the bow to tie anchor rope to the eyelet used to winch boat to trailer? Hooking there would allow a boat to 'ride' wave action more naturally and not pull bow down between crests exposing it to the rogue wakes. On my boat the eyelet is 20 inches lower than top of bow-it would be dificult to hook to eyelet but maybe worth the trouble at some locations?

My kids chipped in and bought themselves a Wii last month-plenty in stock in southern Ontario. Best Buy in Whitby has them-can you just call or email the stores and they ship it-pay cc? Comes with 5 games on cd.....kids played with it 2 weeks, hasn't been on since.

Nice report-sounds like fun day on the water. That first pic made me look twice-looks like your seat is on the engine cowling

While anchored fishing well away from main channel a cruiser threw wake over our bow-scared crap out of my kids. Why go anywhere near a boat fishing if its not on their destination, seems some guys come close just to be agravating. The OPP need to spend more time protecting public safety by targetting 'moving violations' instead of checking our safety equipment. I have never seen a jet skier or boater charged for an unsafe practise-but most trips out I see a few that should be. One OPP boat on large lake, few cars or officiers on foot at good vantage points with binoculars would get worst offenders off water.

WOW-congrats on a great day. Late afternoon too, I've had some luck on Simcoe at nightfall but that has me putting boat in garage at 11pm Can you share what you guys were using-mentioned jig for the hawg under the boat? Looking at pics all I notice is the blue Doritos bag

Johnson synthetic is good-all low ash really cut down on emisions and engine deposits/fouling. You'll find carbs if you need to try the carb cleaner....follow linkages, pull throttle-look for butterfly moving in opening.
-
Hmmmm....what if they don't count and you notice there's 10 in bag-feel cheated?
-
The carb/choke cleaner goes right in carb while running as dealer said-hold off using it-sounds like you just had fouled plugs. Resist the urge to spray carb cleaner in cylinders when installing the new plugs-it'll strip lube off cylinder walls. Buddy called me last Nov in a panic-while spraying fogging oil in cylinders during winterizing he lost the extension straw-shot right in! Good synthetic oils really do cut down on emissions and fouling-I work on merc SJ's as sideline and it really helps those engines-cuts way down on fouled plugs in no wake zones. Amsoil is excellent.

Start by changing all plugs-verify heat range/correct plug, don't assume previous owner had correct plugs in there. Here's article on doing a de carb, using concentrated method....much better than simply adding some to your fuel. Not every Canadian NAPA store carries Seafoam-call around, it is a listed stock item for them. Do note to add oil to gas can your going to run off-many forget that. All you may need is plugs but doing a decarb on muffs in driveway is great way to meet every kid under 12 in neighbourhood-there drawn to smoke/noise. I did a merc SJ 120 and it was unbelievable the crap that came out the exhaust, ended up with gunk on driveway-pull well forward of garage doors if running on muffs on trailer for decarb. Best is at lake so you can rev it up. ---------------------------------------------------------------- A Simple and Cost Effective Way to De-Carbon an Outboard By Capt. Bob Dunkelberger This works for Carbed, EFI, Ficht, HPDI, Opti-max and even 4-strokes... and should be administered after every 50-60 hours of use. First you need a separate small fuel tank. One of those 3-gallon red Tempos works well or an empty gallon milk jug in a pinch, but it might be a bit messier. I use Seafoam over the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) stuff like OMC Engine Tuner or Mercury Power Tune. Note: in the last few years they changed the formula and you have to let them sit up 12 hours. Who's got time for that? Seafoam does the job in 15 minutes and can be purchased from NAPA, Car Quest or other auto stores. You'll need 3/4 gallon of gasoline and one 16oz can of Seafoam for each engine. Don't forget to add 3oz of oil if you are pre-mixing in a carbed engine. Use a 3 ft piece of fuel hose off the small tank. Connect this tank to your engine by pulling off the main tank fuel hose from the intake side of your water separating fuel filter and plug the hose off the small tank onto that fitting. Or you can separate the fuel line on the tank side primer ball, so you can still use your primer. If your engine has a fuel plug then you will also need a fuel plug on the smaller tank's hose. Start the engine, let it warm up and start pulling the mix into the engine. You may have to increase the idle to keep it running once she gets loaded with the Seafoam. Run the engine 15 minutes at the dock or just cruising around under 2500 rpm's. Then shut it down and let it sit for another 15 minutes. Restart the engine; the smoke you see is the carbon burning off. Do the whole thing again and let her sit again for 15 more minutes. If she smokes after the second time do it again. I've never seen one still smoke after three doses. (I bought a Bronco two years ago that had 95,000 miles on it. When I used Seafoam on it I had the neighbors hanging out of their front doors looking for where the fire was after I started it the first time there so much smoke) The gallon mix should be just enough to do this 3 times. You don't need a wide-open throttle and you don't need to change the plugs. The plugs are cleaned at the same time as the combustion chambers. My suggestion is that every 50-60hrs is the optimal time to change plugs in most engines. I cleaned an antique Evinrude once that had a 1/4" of solid carbon on the exhaust chamber walls by running a 1/2 gal of the aforementioned mix through it. Seafoam, a great product, has been around since the 1930's and it's what they used when they were burning straight 4 stroke 40SAE oils in outboards. For you guys with the 4 stroke outboards? Those engines work 10 times as hard as any auto engine ever will and they too will carbon up. Too many are under the assumption that it's totally the 2 stroke oil that causes the carbon, Wrong... it's also the additives they put in the fuels today. The carbon inhibitors in 2-stroke oil are there for this reason also. Remember when gasoline used to smell like gasoline, today it smells more like bad cologne. For those guys that like to work the carbon treatment by spraying it down the carbs, Seafoam also comes in spray can called Deep Creep. It's the same stuff under pressure and notes on the can, "Oxygen Sensor Safe". After that, if your engine manufacturer recommends a daily additive treatment then do so. The tank and hose are a one-time purchase and the Seafoam is only costs $5-6.00 per can

I was typing while you posted-"nowhere to navigate to"....interesting, guess that explains it. Even though its not a pass thru to another lake, if someone said they were on a pre-existing navigable body of water its no defence?
-
That's good point on the water not being their's-never thought of it that way. Tresspass charges stuck so it sounds like ownership of land underneath is enough. What of existing navigable waterway-someone bulldozes and makes a lake cavity or floods an area by building a dam....if someone boated through new lake where old channel existed, or claimed to attempt to be doing that....its not tresspassing.
-
That was a good read-thanks. Rumour the carp kill started in there is enough to keep me out
-
Start with cheapest and most likely culprits-fouled plugs. If spark plugs aren't the problem next I would do a decarb with Seafoam....trolling often results in carb deposits.

I always heard the public couldn't fish south side of causeway(just past Port Perry on 7)-that it was private. Last year I noticed the shore fishermen fishing both sides, last night I saw a canoe putting in on south side. Status changed?....I'm thinking the club must have their own access so doubtful the guys in canoe were members. Or maybe they just ignored private property postings? Couldn't bring my boat in there big bass rumours and quiet might get me to borrow a tinny if its legal.

Which lakes in the Kawarthas currently have 'floaters' washing to shore? I'm thinking of fishing Stony on Sunday, wife/friends would meet me later for an afternoon of swimming/boating so I want to choose a lake without dead carp. Be useful for everyone if we post different lakes status-I was on Scugog yesterday and as posted in other threads its over with there-not one dead carp seen even in weedy bays.

How Is Boat Traffic in the Otonabee River These Days?
Zamboni replied to Golfisher's topic in General Discussion
Yep, next few weeks are busy-plus good weather will add to traffic. Guy I know with a cruiser is thinking by next year the current gas prices will seem like a bargain so getting in as much boating as possible. -
Interesting-last weekend the Toronto Star ran front page article on how the warmer weather may start a migration back to Buffalo & Cleveland and spoke of climatic problems in Phoenix.

anyone familiar with this motor? some help please...
Zamboni replied to ilario's topic in General Discussion
Most NAPA stores have Seafoam....Marvel oil is said to be the best penetrating/lube oil but not sure if that's true-any of good industrial penetrating oils should be fine. You may wan to read "Awakaning A Sleeping Outboard" at iboats. -
Split crank, clean with acetone and apply omc sealant....under $20. Gear shift-often the rod itself rusts out on those engines-flexing instead of shifting causing that intermitent prob....is ebay seller local so you can have a look? If its violently jumping out of gear that's different, more $'s....clutch dog-possibly new gears.

Excellent price, marina would have to do 2, possibly 3 oil changes (with filter) on a 4 stroke alone....plus blow dry electronics, some alchohol or ether to eat water in cylinders, some lube like marvel oil.....$120 is cheap. Hopefully there is no secondary probs like corrosion affecting electronics later-saw a merc 175 sj with flywheel magnets pop off this spring, submerged last summer-ran well after. Tell your buddy to look for any signs of corrosion in next few weeks, he can do backyard mechanic light misting of engine with wd40(non flamable version)....much better would be an aeresol like Repel....bill may show marina did this but do it again in 2 weeks.
