Hmmmmm.....was planning on visiting friends at Golden Beach Resort today....was that a one day tourney? Thinking may be no parking at launch, busy getting out....pulling kids on tube starting from beach close to launch not good if their running tourney from there.

Visiting friends at Golden Beach Resort today-after pulling their 4 kids and my 2 on tubes a few hours I may be able to sneak away to fish a bit. Anyone have luck on Rice Lake in heat of afternoon recently.....bass/eyes....what were you using? Thinking I'll try around the tracks, start with Senko's and then Rapalas....colours? May not manage to 'get away', kids love to tube and its hard to say no to other children who happen to be on beach.

Carp die off caused by poisened zebra mussels or weed control makes sense if it was contained to Scugog-way its spread makes it seem more like a virus/bacteria in water now. Weed or Zebra mussel control in the Bog might flow downstream into Sturgeon but would have to be diluted by then? I keep hearing the MNR testing rumours-have to believe they would have issued a public warning had they dumped something into Scugog and then carp started floating belly up. One guy in Port Perry is spreading rumour MNR tested/introduced a bacteria that kills zebra mussels....make a good sci fi movie but bad for property values

On weekdays right across from Cesarea launch-natural sandbar where people anchor to swim on weekends. Still may be some boats/kids over there on weekdays swimming on hot days but early/when its quiet smallmouth are on the gravel areas mixed in with sand....good shoreline to fish even though little structure.
-
Get ear phones if you want to listen to music, unless nobody else is around. Had a nice evening ruined on Rice Lake by guys old enough to know better, we moved as someone else requests for quiet were ignored.

Friend emailed me, new signs are posted-parking at JP is $6 an hour now....Georgina doesn't want us "day trippers".

Heard 2 tickets were issued off Bluffs on boat registrations recently-another case where warnings would seem fairer than a ticket. Got mine hidden in a baggy on the boat now-did cops ask for your boat registration also outdoorsman?....or do I recall smaller size boats aren't reg'd?

I sometimes see 14-16' boats floating off Whitby-Oshawa area when weather conditions allow. Keeping a respectful distance I've never had a chance to speak with anyone fishing that way, seems to be a combo jigging (raps etc?) and live bait (minnows)....similar methods as fishing whitefish on Simcoe. My 16.5' is ok for myself to troll-limited.....but I need to take my kids cousins out this summer and also sons hockey teamates another time. Wondering if anyone knows if those guys basically drifting around have any/much succes? Anyone here tried it? Thinking for kids having a rod in hand each, 5 in boat they'd enjoy that more than hopefully getting turn to fight a fish trolling-I'm only set up for 2 rods that way....in my limited experience I rarely get more than 2-3 fish on per trip trolling. Early September last year I had my best day with fish 'staging' in Oshawa harbour, trolling around in there and at mouth slowly. Wait till Sept and have hockey teamates fish with minnows? Rarely salmon fish so all advice is appreciatted.

I find a cold front has most effect on day time fishing-the early morning and sunset bite is still there. No scientific evidence to back that up-just from personal experience. I also find the more shallow lakes, especially Scugog are most effected by a cold front. Maybe a shallow lake sees the most temperature change? Looking forward to your report on Baptiste, I'm up that way in few weeks.

Older suzuki two stroke won't stay in reverse

That linkage may even be rusted out-they went to SS because of that prob....rods get corroded and bend easily. -
Nice pics-sounds like you had fun....maybe too much fun, missing the morning bite How were the horse/deer flies, I'll be at Benoir lake (connected to the north) in July-those deer flies were viscious our last visit. There's nice golf course a few clicks up hwy the lodge is on, I can fish with deer flies but not golf. You try top of Elephant, weedy channel that connects to Benoir? That and island were best our last visit.

Glad I read this, was thinking of spending a day there this summer.

Sent you a PM snackpack-can't openly post links here.

Perch Fishing. Cooks Bay or Port Maitland?
Zamboni replied to express168's topic in General Discussion
Sent you a pm with link to Cooks Bay chart if you decide to go there....not sure of launch facilities. I like launching at Sibbald Point PP when with family as kids can use playground, run around, swim there.....washrooms and picnic lunch in park is good. My wife won't fish all day but few hours on boat, few at Sibbald and back on boat works for our family-my kids are little older but still don't want to be on the boat all day. -
No way I can keep him home-he'd make our lives miserable. I'll speak with coach about sitting him more/my concerns.....soccer parents are as serious as hockey parents I'm finding out-possibly more.
-
Worst part is he's new to soccer-hockey is his game. He runs 5 times as much as other kids, comes all way back while playing forward....tries to make end to end rushes few times game I put him in soccer for conditioning so we didn't speak playing his position-may be time.
-
Can't believe their not cancelling my sons soccer game-kids are gonna die running in this heat.

Thought I'd bump this in case someone wanting charts missed it.

Going to try for big pike on Rosseau and Joseph myself this summer-no idea where but posts show the lunkers are in those lakes.
-
There's launch at Rosedale marina....that is probably the one Stoty means on river. There is another launch at Coboconk if your boating in from that river.....see launch at south bay I never tried.

Added some new charts recently to the ones I made available for dl last year. Lakes Rosseau and Joseph are now there along with the Ottawa River starting at Carillon Dam all the way back to Ottawa. We can't openly post the dl links in forums here but anyone wanting the updated list just pm me. All of the Kawartha lakes were already there along with Bay of Quinte and Georgian Bay charts, I'll update list again when I find time to scan in more. To be clear, charts are a free download-few guys pm'd asking.

WOW, congrats on a great catch. I launch at Grenville (across from Hawksbury) and fish the Ottawa once or twice a year-we have a cottage in Laurentians. Never seen Muskie over 48"'s in that section of Ottawa-hear they exist. Without giving too much info out which general area were you in? Just got my hands on Ottawa River charts this weekend, might pull boat to a business meeting in Orleans coming up.

Curious about cause of dead carp in Scugog, friend says its spreading into Sturgeon lake now. Is there any info available yet?
-
Friends who have freeloaded at our cottage for years are finally reciporcating with an invite to a place their renting on Lake Joseph. Is the pike fishing on Joseph comparable to Rosseau or should I boat down....looks like a long ride. These lakes are huge.....I wouldn't ask for specifics but is north/west end of Rosseau good-thats probably as far as I should realistically boat to. I scanned in charts for Joseph and Rosseau-both on site for dl if anybody wants links pm me.....not suposed to post links

I have the Rice lake chart scanned in if you want it....no crown land that I've seen. Wonder who owns Tick Island, Railroad ran right over it....that may be Gov't owned. Interested in camp sites you can boat to myself-my son would consider that a real adventure. Heard some of the islands on Stony Lake are crown land-someone mentioned it here last year.
