Actually it's a piece of unraveled nylon rope that catches them best... no hook! The three words that describe Gar the best are... and I quote!... "Stink", "Stank", "Stunk"!!!

I use muffs on mine all the time and never have had a problem, usually the impeller goin' out is a gradual thing... but I'm sure it can go all at once too. How old is your motor and when was the last time the impeller was changed? If it over 3 yrs. old, or hasn't been changed in 3 yrs. you need to do it... it'll save you problems like this in the future. Even if it isn't the impeller, but has been longer than 3 yrs. You should have it changed.

That's one of the bad things about renting!... It could have been just one.... or a whole family of tub urinators that lived there before you... and they coulda had a whole slew of tub urinator friends too... may have had parties with that theme! Ya just never know...

You wouldn't have happened to have made the mistake of docking the boat with the transom (motor end) pointed to open water and the bow pointed to shore? I know people are saying there wasn't any wave action, but from all the fishin' reports... it sounds like there was alot of boat traffic out there. Boat wake can be worse than natural wave action.

The area that you circled was on the transom and well above the bilge... I doubt seriously if that is where the boat leaked. You need to launch the boat again and find out where it's actually leaking from exactly!... before you take the the boat back. If you have to, fill the bilge with a garden hose to see if you can spot the leak. If you can't find anything there you need to test the livewell and baitwell systems.

Personally, I prefer the round ones!!! Michelins are the best!!! When the time comes, I replace all my stock tires with Michelins... if you really love your truck, you'll buy it a set of Michelins. Duellers are pretty good, but won't give you the traction or mileage a set of Michelins will.

First you beat it to a bloody pulp with a baseball bat (or hockey stick), then gingerly remove the hook!

I embeded a treble like that in my knee one time, knelt down on a 1/2 oz inline spinner while tying up the boat! It went thru my blue jeans and into the knee. Had to cut the hook off as close to the shank as possible so I could get my pant leg up to work on it. Pushed it up and thru myself, no local or general... just lotsa cussin'!!! I never will forget that.
