I was watching the Discovery channel about this and the best bear deterrent is a combination pepper sray/air horn device. It sprays the pepper and makes the loud air horn sound like the one used at sporting events... although I've not seen them on sale anywhere. The air horn by itself will also work.

White Bass and White perch are both Temperate Bass, White Perch however occur in waters with a higher saline content. White Bass cannot tolerate high saline levels. Since Mikes fish was caught in a "Fresh" water body, it is a White Bass.

Great report and pics Bernie!... but I'll tell ya, the way I see it is it wasn't the weather that had anything to do with your lack of fish. It's obvious to me that the old Cabelas Wobble Head jig mould is worn out and won't catch fish any more... so I'll give you $5 for it right now, but don't wait too long to take me up on my offer... because tomorrow it drops down to $4! Hope you have better luck after you buy a new mould... I'll be awaiting your reply.
