  1. Hey Wayne, I had know idea you were online when I posted (wink wink) I found another thread that has a guy quoting it cost him $1200 without the tracks.
  2. The batmobile thread on you tube showed a link I had come across before and would really like to get some input on how difficult this build might be. I have a general exposure to most things mechanical but no real heavy duty experience. First thing missing is a welder but you gotta start some where I could see this pulling a 2 man hut across simcoe easily as long as there's not too much snow and slush. Anyone got about 100 spare hours, a fabrication shop, and know where to get these odd parts. I know how to get beer. coffee, can take good instructions and clean up well. If you could buy this new what would you pay?. Seems like a neat low cost alternative to an ATV and just as fun
  3. I bought a 7' Medium BPS Tourney Special years ago for walleye and still use it today. In the boat it sits right beside my St. Croix and Diawas and other BPS Extreme rods. Has caught loads of fish and for a first multi species all round rod you can't do much better for the price. I have the 4-10lb but it's more like a Med rod. The 6-17 model is quite stiff.
  4. DD chucklets do not catch fish - throw them all out. Better yet just send them to me
  5. Had a so-so day today (saturday). Marked more trout in 125 and a little deeper. We fished in 109 to start, minnows and spoons. Moved to 135 and went 2-2 on successive drops. Bigger shiners just got knocked around with all the small trout. We had a couple 8"ers typical joseph fish 12-14" and lots of them. went 14-20 with alot of fish later in the day taken on small meegs and minnow with a stinger hook. Fished right on bottom just like fishing for whitefish on simcoe. We walked out 2 miles pulling the 2 man hut and hardly noticed it on behind 18" laker was todays big fish, saw one group with a 3-lber wear cleats as there is very little snow and it's slippery
  6. I'll see if I can dig up a few tonite.
  7. try mls .ca and search in around the trent river by campellford You use this to search most cottage areas
  8. Hey Geoff here's my two cents. While I don't know what the Enigma is like, about 6-7 years ago I bought a BPS Extreme as a patch reel when I needed something instantly for pitching and flippin but didn't have the cash for a higher end Shimano. Today I own 6 Extremes. RH's, LH's and recently a 200 size for frog fishing. I tend to abuse my stuff (ran the 200 in the downrigger for a couple of weeks in Temagami cause I forgot my other trolling outfit. Do they perform the exact same as the +$250 reels _ no but pretty darn close. All I can say is I have 6 reels that can cover all my pitchin, flippin, casting, crankin and bottom bouncing needs. They've perfom flawlessly for me. I bought most when they went on sale for $69-79 and yes would buy another if needed tomorrow. I bought 1 Pro Qualifier on a pure impulse last eyar and spent more money but don't feel any differene to the Extreme.
  9. Was over at the local Oakville Home depot and as a precuror to their big Contractor sale tomorrow they had a bunch on in store specials. Picked up a Dewalt 18V impact driver for $99. Includes the 2 batteries and 1HR charger. Normal $ on the web site at HD and CTC is 299 I can drive a 4" #12 wood screw right through a 4x4 with this baby! They had 2 left at Trafalgar and QEW store and said he was pretty sure all stores had them on clearout. Guess there only going to carry the NiCD line up going foreward
  10. When the bass aren't biting we throw small senkos in white and keep them moving just under the surface. The ones that don't sink so fast work the best. It's sight fishing for us so it's cool to cast and get a reaction. Lots of bites but not so many hook ups. I kind of like it that way though
  11. Hey OFC, I have started the search for a used atv and been searching the web to try and find out the steps to transfer ownership and get the plates in my name. Anyone gone through this recently. Not sure if the plate stays with the atv or if the plate stays with the owner
  12. picked up my first one 2 years ago when my browning fell apart after the moose hunt. Went out and bought another immediately for the boat. Just a great flashlight and have never seen another even $100+ that throws that much light. Lights up the trial like a full size transport truck with the high beams on. Just picked up my third this week, a nice yellow one.
  13. I'd just like to go fishing. 2010 has got to be one of the worst years for number of outings and quality fish. 2010 winter was so so, missed opportunities, lost fish and being stranded on the ice almost dead centre of lake simcoe. No trout/salmon trips in the spring Fly in trip in June was OK, couple of good walleye but boy did we have to work for each fish A complete waste and barren rest of the summer with work, bad weather Missed BOQ walleye, deer and moose trips this year because of work Maybe OFC will help me turn it around in 2011
  14. If you want check out the post I made for an older Garmin 12. Exactly what I used that one for - no mapping though just WP and tracking/trail function Hopefully we can hook up on the other stuff before ice fishing ends. Your Dec/Jan sounded a lot like mine. Paul
  15. Not sure about the size your after but Liquidation World had some 3000 BTU Coleman Black Cat heaters on a clearout price for $35. I have a 2 person Clam Nanook and the Black Cat cooks that up so I can fish with long sleeve shirt and no coat on most days. On full blast a 1 lb tank last a little over a day in the Black Cat.
  16. There is one at the temagami dump that has a belly that drags on the ground
  17. Have been getting them more frequent as I get older and Aleve has been working for me recently
  18. 6" all the way. I'll never drill through 2ft of ice with an 8" again. My heart won't take it. We timed cutting holes on Joseph last year - side by side 10" Power auger vs my 6" Finn Bore with brand new blades It was close but the power auger cut 6 holes about 30 yards apart a minute or two faster than I could with my manual Ice was somewhare around 14" thick Later that day I pulled a 17 lb trout through a 6" hole - no problem As back up I do carry a 36" demolition hand saw that makes short work out of joining 2 6" holes drilled side by side Keep your blades sharp and 6" is all you need
  19. Lebarons had several models in the knife case when I was there
  20. sometimes its more about the message you send as a coach
  21. The same marketing that tells me I need a new $500 driver in my golf bag every 2 years
  22. If it was bronte it would be a shopping cart or a roll of orange snow fence Nice work
  23. four most powerful words I know TAKE A KID FISHING!!!
  24. In my early days I spent a lot of time on a charter boat on Lake Ontario (Port Credit). Used pretty much everything over the course of about 8 years out there helping buddies with their business's. Spend a bit more and pick up Cannon's, Big Jon or Walkers. You'll never regret it. I bought my Mag 10's (2 of them) in 1989. They've transitioned through 3 boats and are still going strong. These are not one-two times a year use either. I fish Lake Ontario all summer and Temagami for 2 weeks. I like my downriggin! In all that time I've only ever changed up the clutch drag washers on both and had one end pulley crack. In total a $50 spend in parts. If I ever have to buy new again I'll buy Cannon's again but with four foot arms this time
  25. G2G at the firehall. Tuesday night wing special
