  1. Not taking "shots" at any group, age or otherwise or what the common underlying cause was or is. I can only surmise the guide or leader had one of those brain fart moments where unfortunate things happen in not much more than a couple of seconds. Like I said before I have family up in the region, one who did trail guiding and could grit teeth when the group "decided" to venture off. Who knows what happened other than a tragedy.
  2. I'm just wondering why the are not issued float suits if traversing ANY amount of water. I don't imagine tourists would go out a buy a suit for just a couple days riding.
  3. Just by chance I noticed the Go Pro 7 Silver on sale this weekend, but after reading a stack of reviews doesn't come close to the 7 Black. I may do some more reading about the other models TJ mentioned.
  4. For service call 1-800- WTH- MyCard.
  5. I still have 7 pairs, only for outdoor use in the cold, got to make them last.
  6. I think the funniest one was you torture testing the Bass Pro socks a number of years ago.
  7. To sweeten the deal I'll include a Mr Heater 4/9K heater and box with hose and filter.
  8. Pretty sad, but here's the prevailing answer: SQ spokesperson Hugues Beaulieu said the group deviated from the marked snowmobile paths — which are inspected daily — and went out onto the lake. "They must not have known the area well, because it's an area known for having critically thin ice because of the current," Beaulieu said. My FIL did some guiding years ago and said that was the biggest headache, trying to keep people from wandering(snowmobiling) off the trails. They don't know the area, especially on a lake like that.
  9. Definitely not beat up, in very good condition.
  10. I think it's probably closer to 65, maybe 70. When my back was ok, I could pick the whole hut up by myself to put in the truck. Cheers.
  11. Otter Flipover "Cottage" size, 30 x 54" sled size. Travel cover and quick disconnect tow bar with 2" coupler included. No tears or holes in fabric. Inside has one padded swivel sliding seat along with 2 rod holders. All poles are straight. Will include new in box set of Otter hyfax runners. Hut has very little use, my cranky back limits use, may as well see someone else have fun with it. Lots of room for one person and gear, have had two in it a couple times. $500, lowballers will be ignored. Located about 10 minutes west of Barrie.
  12. There's a pretty long crack from BBP all the way up the N/W shoreline, and looks like a bunch of smaller ones E/W direction. Unfortunately looks like temps are rebounding.
  13. Almost without fail, one forgets something on the first couple outings. As long as it's not the rod and tackle.
  14. . For some reason my British Leyland cars were never touched. Funny you mention that, couple guys that owned Triumphs and someone had a Corina knew to leave them at home in the winter, wouldn't run so I guess the bandits felt sorry for them.
  15. Ya, back in the day called the Que Prov Police or Surete du Quebec, actually uniformed Mafia but I didn't say that. Funny thing found out later it actually was a small blue car, maybe a Datsun or Toyota.
  16. Well, about 45 years ago, a fire fighter buddy and I were driving down the road, under speed limit, QPP red lights stopped us, .38 in driver door, .12 ga in back window. French not that great at the time, I told guy with .38 christ I'm an Army cop, badge in right rear pocket, the other guys a F/F. Short version, they thought we just robbed a bank. I'm driving a VW bug for god sake.
  17. I think with the temps coming back up tues/wed, I'll hold off trying to chip snow ice for a bit.
  18. A few more days and it's dropping to normal temps.
  19. Life is risk in itself, you have to evaluate every situation and make a decision, do I or don't I. With a healthy dose of safety, the majority come back home unscathed. Those that throw common sense to the wind may perish. The last one I remember that was rebroadcast from just over a year ago, was the one in Muskoka, snowmobile riding around midnight where the dad lost his sons. Bad choice.
  20. We have that same 1 inch of frozen sugar snow with another 3-4 inches of fluff on top. Snowblower just rides on top. Time to spread the salt. I'm amazed that for the amount of rain we got here the sump pump hole is pretty much empty, the ground isn't frozen yet and must have absorbed the brunt of it.
  21. Not quite that warm here, 9c/49F around 9:30. Took a quick drive to Barrie and on the way back it dropped like a rock down to 4C. I'm surprised after the crazy amount of rain there's no standing water anywhere, the ground can't be frozen yet.
  22. How about send to Lake Simcoe. At that temp the heater won't work.
  23. Last year I checked for the Mustang Integrity Coats, very hard to find and going for over $700. I checked their "Catalyst" series and felt they weren't much more than a life jacket inside a coat. Seemed like a lot of void areas. The one piece suits don't fit me well, need what would amount to an xxl top an xl bottom, inseams are too long. This is the one I was hoping for https://www.stevestonmarine.com/floatation-clothing/mustang-thermosystem-plus-coat
  24. A couple years ago we went because Simcoe was still open. Got there, the Hut Op pointed to the huts and said down there, never saw him after that, no fish either. Won't ever go back there.
