  1. Unless you have that "dock" out of the water far enough to stop wave action from slamming the boat around, I would really not trust it for one minute. I would be more tempted to use an old bunk trailer, not something you would leave there unattended.
  2. Superb work, sometimes not appreciated until we see what goes on in the background.
  3. Well give us a hand and explain roughly where it leaks. If it's under the seats, then you may well have to remove the seats to reset the rivets, a bit more work.
  4. If it's a reasonably well sealed and insulated hut, the smaller rectangular one (10K btu) will work okay, the other round one really puts out heat. The only thing is if you get the kerosene on your hands, it may affect your catching for the day. Stinks like diesel.
  5. It all depends how "ripe" the eggs are. You can very carefully scrape the eggs off the membrane with a dull spoon and then process them, or cut up small chunks, dime size, and store them that way. They should be rinsed in stream water, not clorinated tap water. Some guys will cure them with a variety of egg cures, you can buy it in the store, some use a home brew of borax and brown sugar. My son freezes them in small batches in pill containers. Good luck.
  6. Can't say from personal experience, yet, but I do believe the info from their site indicates about twice the distance that the human eye can see in stained water. So if you loose sight of your lure at 2 feet, you might get to view a max of 4 feet in those conditions. I will get to see first hand in a month at Nippissing...if it freezes.
  7. Ah sweet, nice contrast, much easier on the eyes, thanks.
  8. Sure...rub it in real hard
  9. That can't be from around my area, the Notty looks somewhat like light brown chocolat and 6 feet too high.
  10. Time to start lobbying Cabelas... we want a store rah rah rah.
  11. I'm sure there would be enough interest to support a Cabelas around the Toronto area.
  12. With this weather I can also understand the trend that ATV's are outselling snowmobiles 4:1, like hawkeye said, no cold in the long range.
  13. This will drive you nuts. http://www.hurtwood.demon.co.uk/Fun/copter.swf
  14. 320.3
  15. Just because it's "poopular", doesn't mean it's correct, there's a lot of hype involved and if you allow yourself to get swept up with the masses, you pay, a company makes money, advertising works, but, are you really catching more fish. I still like mono, more foregiving with it's stretch and it's still cheaper.
  16. Pigeon troller has the right answer, to many nitwits practicing their parking like it's Walmart. The ice at a given thickness can only support X amount of weight spread over a limited area, beyond that, I don't care if there's holes or not, you will sink. It's called Physics.
  17. Have you ever seen what happens when you have something insecure in the truck bed and you come to a screetching stop? Insecure items keep going until they hit something strong enough to stop them. Ever figure out the energy of a 60lb slab of cement? As much as adding weight will give you a bit more traction, once you have lost traction in a slide, the extra weight will also keep you going in the slide.
  18. Well McSquinty and his gang of lying thieves have to get their 28% pay increase from somewhere, maybe we should just have a little blanket party and thump some "cents" into him instead of thousands of dollars. Maybe we should do those who voted for him too...
  19. Like Dan said, period. That integrated junk can cause you headaches down the road. Hardware like the monitor, speakers, etc can be bought separately with no problems if it breaks down.
  20. Okay, did the exterior inspection, no rust, still looks fine. It appears to be a 6" exterior, 5" interior. After seeing Gerritts 4 tube heat exchanger, I'm beginning to wonder, mines only a 2. Mybe time to start looking for something a bit more efficient. 65000Btu input, 49oooBtu output.
  21. Daplumma: Question, if I'm going to install a new gas furnace, do I have to replace the B vent chimney that's in there now? It's been in there for 20+ years. Thanks.
  22. Pair of pliers and squeeeze, Manitoba has them too.
  23. How about a scratchproof screen, even when carefull you end up with a hazy screen after a while. Make the case out of a lighter colour, black in the sunlight can't be good for the electronics. Connectors should be non corroding. How about a transducer cable thats 5 feet, I always have a ball of spaggetti wrapped up in one corner. Good luck, hope to see a prototype.
  24. Glad it worked out huey graphite, better to keep your dollars in your pocket, thanks for the PM.
  25. Well for line, depends what you are fishing for, the small stuff like perch, 4lb line will suffice, lakers and whities, 6-8lb will do. I prefer the Berkley mono lines, each to his own. As for hooks, don't waste your money on bent nails and bobby pins, go with quality hooks like Gamakatsu, Daiichi, much much sharper. Again, for the small fish, #6 hooks are my main ones, #8 if they're finicky. For the larger fish, I stick to #4. I hook my minnows through the back, right behind the dorsal fin and above the lateral line, keeps them lively and swimming around, looks more like an injured baitfish trying to escape from becoming lunch.
