  1. Okay, maybe someone closer can give you a hand, too far for me.
  2. Well the only thing I can say is you have some growing up to do..maybe you should do a couple of ride alongs and be part of the clean up crew. At 50+ over it's just a little harder to pick the pieces out oif the gravel or out from between a splintered telephone pole. Unless you've been to a couple of scenes of carnage, you don't have a clue of what you are spouting about.
  3. The needle should be opened 1 1/4 to 1/2 turns from shut, once you have it running make small adjustments. You may need a bit more open once you put it in gear. For the idle set screw if it has one, wait til the motor is warmed up before you adjust higher or lower. Remember that settings will have a different effect when you have the motor running in a barrel or on the lake. Where are you located.

  5. I would stick with something along the lines of dividend shares but where the principal amount invested is secure. At least that way the worst that can happen is no returns without loosing your initial amount. However that said, if you have a good banker and a reasonable amount, they will still give you "bonus interest rates" on higher amounts. Last two I did gave me 4.25%

  11. Ya sort of lost me on the explanation, a skeg is the lower most part under the outboard lower gear unit, it appears you are talking about something on the boat? The center keel perhaps?
  12. ...Any towed trailer should have 10 to 12% of its total weight as tonge weight measured at the hitch. Any less than that tends to make the trailer fishtail at highway speeds.
  13. Look at the specs on the container, something like TC-W3, if it meets the specs for the other motor then you're good to go.
  14. Man, those things sound like terrorist bearings,(AL - Kousa hubs) break down just before you get to the boat launch and screw up your trip.

  16. You can shore fish down at the bottom of Bayfield St, usually someone fishing there or at the little park area at the Tiffin St launch. Once the boats are out of the Barrie Marina, the hordes decend on the docks.
  17. Okay, take the hub off the axle, make it an Army habit of laying things out left to right as you disassemble, that way you don't have a cluster of nuts & bolts(races and bearings) that don't match. Remove all the grease from the hub and then look in, you will (or should) see two cut outs at the back inner side of each race, take a drift punch and alternately tap the race left-right-left-etc, then do the other. Degrease the inside with brake cleaner, and then apply a bit of anti seize where the races were. Take your new races put them in a plastic baggy and into the freezer for an hour. If you have access to a bench grinder, take one of the old races, take off a couple of thousands of an inch so that it will fall into the hub, great for replacing the new races or go to Princess Auto and get a bearing replacement tool, not expensive. Take the races from the freezer, one at a time, quick coat of grease and they should slide into the hub with very little effort. Make sure they are seated all the way. Get yourself some good synthetic grease, same as what the skidoo guys use on their suspensions, it's more water resistant, while wearing latex gloves, liberally coat the new bearing cages, carefully insert the rear ones first, replace the seal, make sure it goes in flat. Apply a bit of grease to the axle shaft, slide on the hub, grease the outer bearing and insert. Then replace the big nut, not more that lightly snug with a pair of channel lock pliers while rotating the hub same direction as the nut goes. Then back off the nut to the nearest cotter pin hole, not tighter. Put a plop of grease into the bearing cap and tap in. Done...remove gloves before scratching innards of personal nose. Any Q's? Dang Bernie beat me to it. One more thing, if you haven't got the new seals yet, go to a good bearing shop and ask for the double lipped seals like part #12165 SKF or Chicago Rawhide, they fit most of the standard 1.980 size hubs.
  18. Thou shalt never only replace the bearings, bearings shall be replaced as a set, race and bearing cage. You may have caught the rubber seal on the edge of the axle and folded it under on itself and then overheated and melted. As for bearing buddies, each to their own, I threw mine out, back to regular maintenace.
  19. No, it doesn't, load range B tires, 50 psi, load range C tire 80 psi, inscribed on the sidewall, these are not car tires.
  20. Innisfil Beach launch is only free to the residents, they get a township pass, they rest of us pay. But, it's got a humungous parking lot, and in winter it' free for all.
  21. Yup like Slowpoke sad, bad crimp or just a bad product, probably made you know where. If you're going to use a swivel alone, pay the price and get ball bearing swivels with welded rings, SAMPO and a couple of other companies make them, barrel swivels can hang up and still twist the line.
  22. Bad explanation..is the complete wire leader gone or is the swivel part still attached to the line? If the swivel is still attached, then it's a case of bad leaders, if everything is gone it's most likely a case of "you didn't wet the line while tying the knot" or "lousy knot tyer". Learn to tie a Palomar knot, I haven't had one fail yet.
  23. Ditto to what Fish finder said. Many years ago there was a spill of some sort, wiped out pretty much everything. Since then there are a few rainbow and sucker, creek chub and one other specie that I won't say, that call it home. There's the rare salmon that takes the wrong turn (probably female) , but that's about it. I wish they would stock a few salmon and rainbow in there to get things going again.
