sail actually has the hds 7 gen 2 on for 749, plus a 150 rebate, 2 would put you well below your target price, rebate is a visa gift card though -

the most appealing part for me is the broadband sounder for deep water kings, I am hoping there is higher quality, less interfernce

bought one, a roomba and returned it, you still have to move all the furniture out of the way for thing, might as well vacuum your self by the time you clear all objects

Hi guys/gals, I was looking for a new fish finder and was wondering about some opinions, I am a lowrance guy, I have been using a colour lcx15 for the past 5 years and am overall happy with the product. I was looking to upgrade and have been reading alot about the new lowrance series. My question is comparing the new elite 7 vs the hds gen 2 series 7 or 8. I now its tough to compare a product that hasn't been released yet, but the questions arises as cabelas has a decent offer on the 7. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Lowrance-HDS-7-Gen-2-Base-Kit/1436950.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch%2F%3FN%3D%26No%3D40%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dlowrance%26Ntx%3Dmode%252Bmatchallpartial%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts%26WTz_st%3D%26WTz_stype%3DSP%26form_state%3DsearchForm%26recordsPerPage%3D20%26search%3Dlowrance%26searchTypeByFilter%3DAllProducts&Ntt=lowrance&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products In reading about the new elite 7 http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Products/Fishfinder-Chartplotter/Elite-7-Broadband-en-us.aspx The elite 7, form what I can see is basically the same for quality and power, both having 250 rms and actually a high quality screen with 800 x600 pixels, and the elite 7 has broadband technology. I usually fish lake o with a little georgian bay and sinclair thrown in. So I don't need the hds for the net working capibilties of the hds series, so what do you think?

nice fish, real fattie!

Looking at the satellite maps, the whole lake looked muddy, the only difference i figure is that fish in thames are used to feeding in muddy water

I use a calcutta b with a 8ft compre, works nice, i hummed over the calcutta te, but figured if issues I could use shimano's reel repair service for 30$ or so, that being said I caught a nice fish on friends st croix legend rod 8 ft heavy, with a shimano tranx and that is a SWEET setup

Got out to Lake St Clair for the last boat trip of the year yesterday. Worth the drive. Fished the mouth and river at the "ditch" and ended up 4 for 8, Biggest was 50.5 and a 46 as well. The river was definetly more productive for us. All rips came on big nils custom painted, in blue perch and helin frog. Thanks to George/Wood Wacker for the awesome squirt job, I love it so much it gives me a "woodie"! lol heres some pics the hot lure

I had fished the spot quite a few times over the summer with nothing but pike, thought it was cool the fish returned to literally the exact spot a year latter

Was able to get to my familys cottage for a fall closeup, weather was miserable for the last 5 days, but managed one decent fish in the five days there during a break in the weather, Pulled this girl just off a rock point in 8 fow on a rainbow double cowgirl, measured her at 48 inches, first pic is of this year, cool part is I am 90% sure this is the same fish I caught last year not 2 feet away, on oct 17th 2011, which measured 47" 28lbs and was caught on black silver showgirl. the fin rips are 100% the same, although the spots are little less defined this year, first pic is of this year, second last year, check it out this year last year

henley boats from little current I believe

I use the shimano roller rod with the swivel tip, pricey rod, but nice.....a cheaper version is just any dipsey rod and change the tip to a twili tip, but instead of a regular door stop twili tip, I highly recommend the swivel tip from torpedo divers, a friend has that on his rod and very nice, actually works better than the shimano tip.......for leader material , i usually use 40lb flouro between dipsey and spinny, never had a break in that yet...with no snubber..... I am not associated with torpedo products, but I also prefer the torpedo 19 strand wire over the 7 strand just for the ease of dealing with kinks, I take a lot of newbies fishing and its easier not always having to cut back 20 feet or because of kinks

acme sells GNB-great northern battery and deka, great luck with dekas from there, very poor results with the gnb batteries and had one fail in the car too
-
why spend 400 on one rod, when you can get a couple of compre's with lifetime warranty for less and probably a calcutta to go with it, i just picked up the new verison of the compre muskie, and it's pretty sweet, I couldn't tell a noticeable difference between the compre and legend tournament
-
Acme battery has good prices, and loved the deka depp cycles I got there, but I had zero luck with their brand Great Northern Battery, I had 2 crap out in the boat and one crap out in the car, swithed to interstate, there is a warehouse in stoney creek that someone posted last year and so far so good, 2 trolling motor batteries and my truck battery going strong as well

Where's The Best Place Locally to Buy A Bowmount?

I priced out a 80lb terrova last year with ipilot and lebarons ended up being the best price, better than cabelas -
I always worry about the counter being accurate without using the proper spring, ie if there is any slide or slippage, grimsby bait has them in stock or I am sure talltales in cambridge has them as well, I keep an extra in the boat just for such occasion
-
welds vs rivets, cracked vs popped, one of the coolest things at the spring boat shot was seening the video of the lund with no drain plug and 20 3-4 inch holes drilled in it, and still driving due to the flotation properties of the boat, point is you can still get back to the boat launch
-
a 55lb trolling motor is not that bad, I use 80lb on 19.5 ft with no problem and had 65lb on a 17.5 foot boat
-
What does bankes offer for warranty? If your goona spend the dough, a new lund warranty might be worth the abuse you put your boat through, just a thought, cheers moe
