  10. My buddy ran eco tourism business out of Collingwood for a while Dogsledding and icefishing in the winter hiking canoeing fishing in the summer. No one really wanted to do that stuff and it quickly evovled into bus trips to the casino.
  11. Nows a good time to get out and catch some chub. Cut off their tails and throw them in some pickling salt. Top your spoons off with a salted chub tail. Huge diff in the number off strikes.
  12. No boats on Bannister its a very large heron rookery. Both lakes have pike and crappie but suffer a lot of winter kill.

  14. Brought a huge smile to my face. You do realize however that if she fishes AND can catch bait you wont be able to keep the young men away from her when she gets older. Now all you need 2 do is teach her small engine repair
  15. Yes Im pretty sure thats the case .Cut up sucker works pretty darn good and they are plentiful and easy to catch
  16. Contact the DFO they have the highest juristrition and can and have charged other levels of the government including CA's and the MNR.
  17. Theres not a lot of money in the industry in the retail end of things. I managed a tackle shop for 4 yrs. It was a great fishing experience but didnt help my retirement plan any. Being a jobber(independant tackle supplier) is a cut throat business and most dont last for a long time. Really the best way of having success is to open a tackle shop. That said almost 90 % of them fail in their first year.
  18. That would be a very handy bird for basements projects. Honey Im building a spice rack(game and beer)
  19. The above bolded is the correct statement. You have to take into cosideration the physics and engeneering of a baitcaster as opposed to a spinning reel. On a spinning reel the line freely comes off the spool. On a baitcaster the line comes off only as fast as the spool doles it out. The easiest way to remember it is your rod should stop its casting motion 90 degrees before you would normally stop it with a spinnig reel. You need to give the line time to get off the spool until the energy of the lure(cast) is spent. This is why you should buy things from small local dealers. When I use to work at one we would always give newbys lessons before they would buy a baitcaster. Because once they are confidant with one they will have to buy a few more.
  20. Thanks for the report. My dream canoe trip would be the Horton or the Thelon.
  21. Here is an undercast its exactly like a spincast only set up like a spinning reel. Instead of a button on the back of the reel it has a trigger at the front. The next logical move after that was a Quantum Quickfire series (which has the same type of trigger and picks up the line for the child) and the transition was flawless. A spincast is an okay reel but doesnt train the right muscle memory for learning to use a spinning reel.
  22. Ive caight many a ouannaniche in my time and yjey are an amazing fight. Id like to see them brought back but the habitat might be just to degraded and a waste of money somewhat similar to the reintroduction of musky into Simcoe......Oh no he didn't?!>?LO
