  1. If they are endangered then they need protection. Down here they are not and they make a delicious soup. There are lots of different animals that some look at as food and other don't. If you harvest from the land and use it then I feel it is the correct way to use resources. If you are just killing them then I feel it is a crime against nature. Art
  2. I wish you and your wife well for sure. Sharing that as an answer would not sit well with me as well. A shallower answer of I have lost interest is all the info they might need. In the situation you are in you might decide to just keep it till life gets better. Art
  3. You appear to be of the mind that you are doing the buyer a favor by selling the boat. While you may feel like that the Buyer feels he is doing you a favor by giving you money for something you no longer want or need. This starts the sale off butting heads. If the seller appears to be glad that someone is giving it a good home and the buyer feels he is helping a person out then it is a happy sale all around. You have the right to be as gruff or put off by the questions and the background of you and the boat but it is the buyer who decides how long the boat sits in your driveway. Answer their questions it will cost you nothing. Make it a pleasant sales atmosphere and you will reap the rewards of an easy sale and closer to your asking price. Just some advise from my many purchases and sales over the years. Art
  4. I run a 1989 Evinrude 150 and while it gets bad gas milage I am not tempted to get a new one. I like that I can work on it when it needs it (not often). It runs like a scalded dog and it weighs less than a new 150 either 2 or 4 stroke. I am maxed out weigh wise on my Ranger so I decided to rebuild it. I was able to easily locate all of the parts needed and as I was rebuilding it I found out it was actually a GTX150 under the GT150 hood.....Bonus. I restore older cars and motorcycles and to me the late 70's to late 80's was the golden age for serviceable and reliable engines. BTW if you didn't know Bernie Giesler of "Giesler cedar boats on Lake Nipissing" has been restoring OLD motors and has a few fine looking restored boats he is nice enough to show every once in a while. Art
  5. I always ask to gauge the atmosphere of the sale. If it is an honest answer then both parties are made comfortable and it will be a much more pleasant sale. If that is considered rude or it puts someone off then I am not interested in dealing with them. Art
  6. Well done nice looking shark Thank you for sharing the video. Art
  7. The channels will not wake up till 55 degrees most times. Art
  8. You really want a marine survey. Contact your insurance company for nams in your area. The charge will be more than a mechanic but he will inspect the whole boat and offer an honest evaluation on how the whole boat is. Art
  9. You might be able to talk Spiel into twisting up a few rods for you and as you said you pay what you get. I Have been very fortunate that he has made the time to build a few rods for me. You can view some of his work on his facebook page. Spiel Custom-Rod's photos. Art
  10. O.K. my bad cat joke. " You know how to turn a cat into a dog? Cover it in gas.... strike a match...........wait for it......... Drop it on the cat and WOOOF". I would think along the lines of a middle aged dog with short legs for your new walking buddy OI. Art
  11. I have no info on the goldendoodle. The issues on the dogs appeared between 2 years and 6 years. They started as minimum symptoms but after lab tests they became expensive to diagnose and treat. Realise that we treat our dogs like kids so the money we spent is not what some people will spend. We could have taken the easy road and keep them pain free for a year or two and then put them down. We had one had a lung removed and a jaw removed and rebuilt to give her a longer quality life. The other is going on some really expensive auto immune program that started out like it was a pulled neck muscle. Don't get me wrong this could happen to any dog since my Coon hound has not been inexpensive in himself. Most of the mixed breeds in my opinion are less prone to breed specific issues just from my informal investigations from the dogs I visit in life as a plumber. To note also only one of the dogs were purchased the others where from the shelter or from our vet helping rehome them. I would say to contact your local shelter and tell them what personality of dog you want and have them call you when he comes in. I have had a few dogs in my life that breed wise should not be a water dog or good with kids but were never told, the case in point was a bulldog that loved water. Art
  12. My lures have been cut down to Chrome rattle traps, Heavy casting spoon, Topwater chugger bug. Sabrinki Rig, and jigs with tails. The balance is hooks and lead with 20lb mono between the hook and sinker to easily pop off a sinker snag. Art
  13. Had 3 labradoodles in the family to date and they all have had issues mostly cancer and autoimmune variety. They have been expensive to keep healthy. These dogs came from national breeders with papers and excellent breeding practices. We will not be getting a 4th. A full blooded standard poodle is the next puppy on the farm You might want to check them out you would be surprised how outdoorsy they are. Art
  14. I would wait them out and just keep documenting communications between you and them. Art
  15. I would bring a spinning rod and with bait you can have a good time on the reefs. dawn and dusk are the best times to fish. 1 oz sinkers and #10 hooks bring plenty the snags eat alot of them. I usually use 65lb braid if you get a strong fish you can clamp down and turn him or force a release before he spools you. Good luck and enjoy Art
  16. I love the trunk monkey there is 3 or 4 of them now. Art
  17. If you got a Ford you can get this option installed at the dealers Art
  18. Time on the water with a controlled environment is the key. I actually took a fish and put 4 oz of weight and lowered it thru the transducer field to see what a fish looks like vs floating debris. The other key is to be able to grasp the concept of what the bottom is made of by reading the strength of the returns and what adjustments are doing. I have spent countless days just reading the water looking for future spots to fish based on the environment rather than looking for fish. Here is a great link to read http://www.defender.com/html/fishfinder_info.html Art
  19. I keep mine in place always it makes people think twice about parking carefully behind me. Art
  20. Perchin fr MS has been cancelled go to the website for prize drawing http://www.perchinforms.com/ Sorry to see this one cancelled as well

  21. Expensive to repair with few dealers for parts. Slow moving on land worst on the water. Test drive one before you buy it, you will find it actually does nothing well mostly mediocre. A boat is a good boat and a fourwheeler is a good land vehicle. Buy both and be happy. The parts and dealership are for the USA it might be better up North though. Art

  23. It isn't the size of the spider you need to worry about it is the hole in the wall he made. Art
  24. Spend the money to have a mechanic look it over he can tell by looking at the pistons, plugs and possibly hook it up to a computer what shape it is in. While he will not give you a guarantee he can make you comfortable with the price you paid. A good maintenance program has keep my gtx150 from 1989 on a ranger boat running like it is new for 28 years. Art
